- The showrunner announced that the show wasn’t supposed to be set at any specific time period, and this is why they decided to use a mismatch of technology. They use rotary phones, CRT monitors, and tube televisions, but at the same time, they also use modern devices such as cell phones. Also, in earlier seasons, you can clearly see some of the real New York skyline and actual landmarks in shots, but as the seasons went on, the editors slowly added more and more digital effects to disguise the New York skyline with Gotham architecture.

Perfectly capturing the timeless affect of dc history. It’s like the whole 20th century wrapped into one decade. Modern tech and seriousness, 20s gangsters, etc. Gotham is a good representative of America. As in it’s a melting pot of different cultures and times.
I guess that’s the reason why I’m so obsessed with it. I love a bit of vintage stuff, and modern stories makes it more watchable, a perfect blend of

My girlfriend and I recently started watching Gotham. I’ve previously watched it years ago and I described it to her as the 1920s, 1980s & modern day hybrid. It’s cute how invested she is..
And it just looks perfect🤩

Bro if you watch the show you can clearly see every choice is intentional. All the tvs are desaturated (not fully black and whtite). The architecture, the set design its all done so well. In the galas, the dresses people wear are from the victorian era. The show created a world. Youre just not used to that or the guy didnt explain it well. You have to watch the show, its intentional
