NOW I realize what I was missing from their live performances all this time, ofc it's the saxophone... yeah, you're right, would be even better with it! Does Sam Gendel not wanna do live performances?
Thanks man, that was a great vid. I love the way they slice and dice the songs, really makes them exciting to listen to. How about that keyboard just before Pizza! Those chords melted my face. Sounded a bit like Holdsworth. Genevieve is really turning into a confident performer.
Somehow, first time I see this live performance on YT. Some very original versions of several songs in here, brilliant !! Amazing vibe also... About the sound : not surprised the vocals are a bit "under-mixed", I saw them live a couple of days ago, same thing.
wish they had let you record this from the board! this is so lacking in every aspect of sound quality. they are such an inventive, dynamic, and sonically rich band experience.
I'm afraid the real thing is not much better. It's called lo-fi, it's a thing, they do it on purpose. It is beyond me but apparently it is conscious. Artistic freedom and all.
@@MartinMaat That's not it at all. Genevieve's vocals in particular are not as loud as they should be (on the recording) because the guy recording is situated very close to the stage, right between the mains. If he would have been further back, there likely would have been a better mix but then the visual aspect wouldn't have been captured as well as it was. Knower has nothing to do with "lo-fi". Maybe "hyper-fi"?
@@effsixteenblock50 I heard him tell this in an interview in which he was asked about it. I didn't make this up. Did you hear the latest Knower teasers? He added noise, as if it were recorded on a late seventies ferro cassette tape. He's nuts.
@@MartinMaatAdding noise to a recording to give it a "lo fi" vibe has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a live mix. Their mixes live sound perfectly fine afaik. Of course the mix isn't going to sound good when just recorded from a phone as in the above vid.
If this video is monetized, the proceeds should go to Knower minus the cost of your ticket and beer. They worked their asses off and it's their property.
Hi Paul Remington, thanks for sharing this great performance. I wish to make a transcript of the jazzy 3 minute Rai Thistlethwayte piano solo on 'Around' starting at 15:25. Is there any way I can contact you to get the audio for this section of video so that I can use audio tools to better hear the keys which get drowned out when Louis comes in at 17:09 ?
Wow they need somebody working the sound mixer on their next show. This does not showcase their talent AT ALL because you can't hear half the song I'm still really happy to see them performing though
I love/hate the chatter in the back ground. Hate: Nothing of this deserves a lapse of attention. Wish her vocals were a bit better mixed. God dam you are always great! Oh love? I love the way there is chatter like the old days of jazz like when Anita O’day and Ella Fitzgerald sang over the cocktail din. It’s tradition. Jazz lives.

What is the intro called? I love it
I discoverred that band one month ago and can't stopping listening'em since that day !
Genius, genius genius !
Sam Wilkes blows me away.
An absolute beast
What I love most? The way that she *always* holds her microphone away from the stage monitor, to avoid feedback. Massive professionality.
So true, it's such a disappointment when good singers cannot hold a microphone properly. She knows how it's done, though.
I would hope this is standard.
my absolute favorite thing was how she remained standing the entire set without tripping over any cables or monitors. absolute class
I gave live birth at this performance.
Just discovered these guys. Can't believe they've been doing this for 10 years. I must have been in a coma. Great music.
I've never heard a piano solo that melts my face... until now.
Snarky Puppy - Lingus
Such a seriously talented band...but Louis Cole is the icing on the cake. A phenomenal musician.
have you heard Clown Core as well?
@@SlaughterEngine Oh yes! :)
drum machine, singer queen, keyboard master, bass slapper.
slappin da base.
Such a sweet performance piece. A rare gem for sure. That snare & kit sounds amazing!
The interaction between musicians is completely magical, here...their abilities on improvisation are endless...
Genevieve is so dialed into the music...She is so amazing...Tough stuff to sing...Does she ever nail it or what?
Love the energy from the whole band, Genevieve displays it perfectly
I've only gotten into this, but they are awesome. Musically they give me strength. All power to them.
Best band on the planet, best music in the galaxy
Lol
CLOWN CORE !
Thanks for sharing this is awesome!
She is BEAUTIFUL
I've been following Knower for about 10 years. Here from Beat Saber, I'm so happy to see a live version of One Hope.
Same here! Didn't know about them until Beat Saber, then Audica. Currenlty hyperfixated on this band, they're incredible
I am sad I never heard them till now, looks like a great session
This is fantastic, but I miss the Saxophone :-(
sorry, its gone.

Genevieve has such a pretty smile.

Great job filming Paul!!! 😁😁
5:49.... Genevieve on fire with the death lean!
Incredible.
Thanks for recording this!
Wow, they really brought out the 'old' stuff for the first half! Amazing as always.
that things about you rendition is AMAZING
awesome drummer
Knower along with Ghost Note, Corey Henry, a few others, my Absolute 21st Century favorites.
Awesome!
GO SAM, RIP THAT THANG UP!
Rai gots a muppet fro!! I love it
23:35 that left hand action you mad lad

Agreed. Vox are underrepresented among other glaring issues.

To bad I missed this. I wish I knew, knower was going to Grace Rochester with some real wonderful music!
intro tape is like vintage Todd Rundgren - brilliant

1:04:15 that was SO UNEXPECTED
@10:41 "Chinese Funk" became "My Buick"!
Yo he is a really good drummer i would rate 9/10
No freaking way they way came to rochester. Daaaamn
Same. DAMN.
Overtime just isnt Overtime without the whole group there
i fucking love u, guys
Sick.
I am diying to see this live
So Chinese Funk is My Buick?
I like that "DIVER DOWN" Van Halen shirt
Fuck yeah
Bass player should stand up. Great band.

Anyone know what left-side cymbal he is playing?
Bad sound quality hurts. Almost saddening..
Yep, almost can't listen to it, but performance is always worth "watching".

super , zupper , che zuppa !
Is there a soundboard recording of this somewhere? Hard to hear Gen's vocals.

Does anyone ever notice you can barely hear the singer?
Way too much room on the stage, I don't know how they managed to cope with it all.
Love the band. Can't hear the singer at all....as usual
59:04 😎
why Rai look like the stranger things kid
Chinese funk or my buick
Great band. Crap camera work
Bass player's great but he needs to stand his ass up on a gig.
C'mon man you want louis to stand while hes drumming too lmao let them play there music how they like
Why?
@@All7777Fever Because it makes him look like a lazy piece of shit.

Definitely needed a stronger singer to pull that off, she was sort of a distraction to the stellar musicianship that was going on around her.
The mix doesn't help. Soundboard recording would be a much better indication of the actual sound.
you must be new here? lmao
