Sam Wilkes gotta be one of my favorite bassists on the scene. Dudes thought process for variations on grooves is so original, so funky, and just nasty. Fuckin love it
Love me some Sam! When he gets grooving he's got a neck pump almost as good as Joe Dart! 🔥
yep, he's a total legend. Love everything he plays on
I just love how much HE loves music. You can see it with every strum
If every drummer could play as consistently as Louis, drum machines would never have been invented.
dude already is a drum machine
@@harrisonjones2938 They need to release a Louis Cole VST
I've always admired how much he manages to do with such a simple kit setup.
Louis and Joey Jordinson, Drum machines in diquise
Dude is a clown
man i miss live music :(
SAME
Nothing beats it mate!
perfect excuse to see the louis cole choir live on august 9th probably in LA idk where actually
I'm old, and I still think this is what it's all about. The trick is, "You have to have SOMETHING to say," and I think these younger people absolutely do. It's like Rave meets Jazz with some peanut butter in the middle (with an Oreo). 😎
Sam wilkes is a GOD
You think so ?
Listen to Jamaaladeen Tacuma.. 👍🏼
@@JerryT21damn straight
Totally.
Also Sam Wilkes, holy fuck. Those bass lines, they're like a synth.
Yeah just ask jamaaladeen tacuma
I like the way the girl behind Louis feels the music
The performance is insane, great chemistry on stage
Yeah except for the girl ...he's a male hipster
franckdebank with boobs...?
Drugs are a hell of a drug
@@franckdebank Welp imma pretend I didn't see that
I'm pretty sure that's Sarah Thawer actually, having the time of her life!
11:06 holy fuck, the bassline. that guy is unreal.
Listen to Bassist Jamaaladeen Tacuma's album show stopper " Sunk in the Funk . Should be on youtube ...
10:47 right before that, Cole on fire
@@JerryT21 thanks so much for recommending this amazing song
It’s actually the bassline to the song ‘Butts Tits Money’ by Louis Cole’s band Knower! Check it out! It’s awesome!
Sam Wilkes is an understated beast
whoever was dancing behind louis cole is, as the kids call it, "a mood"
I believe they also be the main character.
White pants lady. Ugg
Drugs are a hell of a drug
@@binobones or, drugs. I never said there was anything wrong with dancing your ass off while on drugs. In fact, I encourage everyone to experience it atleast once in their youth.
@@binobones bro just say you're afraid of drugs
Random sax guy appears and absoloutely kills it
iyi dedin
And then leaves, never to be heard from ever again
That's just what happens when your jam gets funky and powerful enough. Some magical entity with a woodwind materializes out of nowhere and jams with you.
It's like getting star power in guitar hero.
@@brandonthesteele LMAO
I think it's Jowee Omicil
seeing them play on such a raw video really made me realise how good they are.
the live sesh videos also do that, but this almost feels like i'm in the room.
8:46 Rai with the perfect crash sync with Louis🤣
As musical as it gets. A good strong funk beat can be danced to. Proof is the girl behind Louis.
So cool to hear an old live version of "Fail in a Cooler Way" - before it had lyrics, it seems.
Louis is a genuis. Amazing video.
A 21st century Buddy Rich!
holy shoot you're right
Track list:
Buts & tits and money - knower
Nightmare - knower (New album)
Failing in a cool way - Louis Cole
8:46 is some of the most wholesome collaborative energy i've ever witnessed
What the fuck. Rai had some insane awareness and timing there!
wow louis cole smiles sometimes
Damn that note stand. I want to see Sam play.
Never been so angry at a note stand
isn't the guy a professional?
ya don't see too many bass players front and center, on their ass, with a music stand obstructing...
is this rehearsal, or a live show?
@@mccarthybrien I don't think it matters whether someone sits or stands when they play, up to the player and how they wanna play
HOLY FUCK!!
WHEN YOU GO FROM AC/DC TO AD/HD IN ONE GENERATION!!
that's the kinda show I wanna go to!
Guuuuuurl, well done on dancing to the entire jam session. She's literally portaying how I feel on the inside listening to this, but I could never...😂 These guys are so frickin awesome.
Come on, just let go, remember I'm always dancing with you!
@@sugarhieroglyph Dancing girl?
@@oscargill423 um, no. I am dancing though.
@@sugarhieroglyph Oh okay. Well keep dancing. I will think of you in hardship.
@@oscargill423 will do, I'm about to dance while doing the dishes.
How quickly the crowd stops clapping after the first fill. 😂😂
Crowd: starts clapping
Lois Cole: oh no you don't
I love how the end part of this jam became "Failing in a Cool Way". Took a badass jam and expanded on it. Well done lads!
Never noticed this. Such a banger. Can’t wait to see him and Genevieve live
Hearing now in 2023, the rest of the jam also became Nightmare from Knower Forever!
Three songs out of one drum groove
I just love the girl dancing behind Louis. Just feeling it. So great.
shes really gettin down for that "1 + 3" feel!!!!!!
Rai Thiss! Omitted but your skillz are acknowledged, wizard.
I got to see Knower last week. Louis and Genevieve were great but it would have been cool if there was a Sam or two there as well.
The way louis sped up and slowed down, combined with the synth solo, this reminded me a lot of "the wrinkle" by miles davis, a fun fusion funk jam from his 80s stuff
Yeah how does he do that that is some insane control and trust, both for himself and the ensemble
It’s from the knower song overtime.
Thank you for the recommendation!!!
all we need is sam wilkes and joe dart to collab.
or have a big physical fight
They are neck and neck
yesssss!
neckkkkkk!
louis cole has played with both dart and wilkes.
it gets funkier V could have a wilkes/dart collab
I loooooooooooove it. You just remember how much you live music. That room is feeding the musicians and the musicians feeds back. And that 'swing' you can only experience live.
Sam with the Jimi Hendrix "wind cries Mary" lick 4:50
The question is did he cop it from Noel or Jaco?
@@bilosmith177 Jimi
That shit had me rolling
nerding out has a new meaning
That bass player got clean groove
Cyborgs that listened to a lot of Prince.
i love Rai Thistlethwayte.
If I had to use one word to sum up this experience of a video, it would just be Joy.
You guys are just plain awesome.
Sam is a hell of a bass player.
Thank you for sharing! Quality jam!!
Wonderful! Thanks for uploading.
This is the music to the funkiest Mega Man level ever!
We need more music like this.
Absolute monsters. Love them so much!
That was so so so so so so beautiful
Everything these guys do is amazing. You can't find one video of them being anything other than epic.
This popped in the algorithm right after I watched the Suns advance to the finals. Damnit RUclips, you got me
just an absolute unit these guys
this is pure fire
Thank you for recording this, it's filled with so much energy and the performance is superb!
5:10 shows how amazing Sam's awareness is. So simply just bringing it all back together.
The magic of music!
So much fun to be had!
Alright, George Collier, you're up.
Seriously though, this looks like the funnest gig ever.
i love this video so much
This is awesome I'm very impressed I like the live on play it's really like the part when they go funky and the guy blowing the horn plus the bass sick the drums is just as sick too plus the key board wizard I really to see more of these guys keep on it real and good luck you guys are a game changer.
Jacob Mann, man... so laid back
THANK YOU FOR THE IMAGES
Saving these bass lines for later 6:27
love it!!
So good!
Slowing this to half speed so I can play along with Sam is my new favorite bass drill
"Louis Cole, Sam Wilkes" ok that is something i can get behind
I want to like this video so hard, but youtube only allows me to press the button once :(
fu34in insane jogger jazz pants wiggling shouting on the 4 beast mode jam.
Wow that solo at 10:38 ahaha :) Thanks for the recording!
would love to be in a wild crowd like this, so cool
They are amazing at Jaming and impro
sax player I believe is Jowee Omicil .... Brilliant musician .. I could be wrong so it would be great if anyone else could verify.. just recognized his sound/style
It is Jowee ! I was there
He’s credited in the description, now - so cool that you both knew who that was - never knew soprano could sound like that! He’s the anti-KennyG
@@Thomas_Gachod I’m very envious! :)
@@Thomas_Gachod I wish I had!!!!!!
Filthy Fantastic.
I hear Genevieve's voice in my head
Same here
The s's with the lines
Me too :)
Superb!!!!!!
Is this Jazz? Because if this is what Jazz is then I like Jazz.
what a moment !!
hahaha i love the ",but mean it" moment
A bunch of human radios that are absolutely on the same vibe. Just one big breathing grooving monster.
That is the dankest soprano sax I ever heard. My boy is funk
He was sexually abusing that soprano all the way through the solo (in a good way)
Yes!!!!
Relentless!
Haha trop bon de revoir ce live au petites halles ! Quel bon souvenir 😍
Hike up those pajamas girl, your moves are impeccable. 🙌
wow crazy bass‼︎
Come to Belgrade, please, please, please!!!!
Enorme !!!
That fast funky baseline sounds a lot like a baseline of the Groove Collective back in the early/mid 90's.
I was today years when I found that Rai from Thirsty Merc is the absolute beast on piano.
I want to know how this relationship happened.
SICK!!!
So dope
what talent is on that stage

Jowee Omicil !

Yo, can Rai get credit on here? Both keys and random cymbalage. This is killer though!
