How did it take me this long to find this immaculate performance? I was staring up at the TV like a little kid seeing Live at The Quick for the first time again. That was incredible
This is a little diamond hiding out in the great big pile of youtube videos. Don't know how I found this but glad I did. New and fresh... These guys killed this.
Another reason to appreciate jazz not only for the embodiment of creativity, but also for the continuous expansion of the scope of physical capabilities. The triumph of Man as it is.
IDK if anyone was seriously doubting Louis as a drummer, but FFS, this should cement him as a great. Absolutely phenomenal performance by everyone in this video! We want more!
I'm also a big Cole fan yet never saw this video in my searches, and it just popped up... like a surprise Christmas in july, yay... really cool to hear him in this context too.
Damn! Matt Brewer is one of my fave modern double bass players (among many faves, admittedly, but still), but I don't think I've ever heard him on electric bass. This rips.
I grew up playing in the same Jazz Orchestra as John Escreet. He was an absolute prodigy, and I felt so privileged to be performing with him. Now he's playing with one of my favourite drummers! So amazing to see!
Insane performance by everyone, serious talent on display here & a good vibe. Mr Tall Skinny Skeleton led me here. Heard he slept with a metronome under his pillow waiting for the metronome fairy to give him a good time & it shows
Man... everybody is sounding great but MATT BREWER ON ELECTRIC BASS... on electric his lines and genius ideas come across with such clarity!! Seriously brilliant playing.
I didn't even know Matt Brewer played electric bass and here he is rocking out as a post Jaco fusion shredder complete with delay trail laden open solo.
A bit of a Gospel-like, Metheny-ish vibe in that piano part and whole conception in general (like Keith Jarrett meets Cross The Heartland), but Louis Coles' drumming adds a layer of 21st century sound to the mix and perhaps my first time hearing Matt Brewer on 5 string electric in kinda a Jaco bag, him and Louis really tight....Beautiful tune and performance/ ensemble chemistry. The solos are stellar, JE smoking on the piano and Really cool circular-esque sometimes open progression underneath DB's in-and-out swirling solo. What a great example of creatine, 21st century Jazz. OK it gets better around the 17:00 marker, all in, all out and back again. Instant favorite.
I used to be such a pretentious little fuck, about what "real music" and art was, when I was growing up. I'm glad I grew out of that. Now I can appreciate this for all the mastery behind it.
Wow, I remember first seeing Matt Brewer forever ago when he performed at the Grammy Awards in a child prodigy band that included Tony Royster Jr, Eldar Djangirov, and Julian Lage. I saw that again recently and wondered what he had been up to and lo and behold, just jamming on electric bass with Louis Cole.
300 likes WTF do people want to see ? How sick does a band need To be these days. Damn y'all cold yo. These dudes is getting it in giving up all this art and folks just treat it like it's nothing.
@@raiowyn my point was how hard is it as a fan to simply tap like on such amazing content? Of course more people enjoyed it then is reflected in the likes and views, but folks should show more support for such amazing art. Peace

Every few months I search for new Cole stuff, only now found this one lol
Binney has been doing wild stuff for decades, going back at least to his stint in Lost Tribe. In many ways this is more tradiational....
This is so good
it's so weird seeing louis in such a high quality video
and not in a port-o-john
and no one shitting on a keyboard
It’s all quality . Just not his aesthetic
It was just a matter of time.. Jazz is having an affair
But never in focus, because he exists in lo-fi. Beautifully done!
Louis Cole always has oversized shirts because they're fitted to his talent rather than his frame.
😂. U r right.
10:23 cymbal grab is MANDATORY!!

It's incredible how many different sounds louis can express with a simple kit like that.. mindblowing

Louis is legit the best drummer in the world rn, if anyone really doubts him as a drummer, they know NOTHING about drums
I have never known anyone to doubt Louis Cole as a drummer....

As good as the drummer from Clowncore!
Another thumbs up for drummer Louis Cole. He really held this together.
The drumming equivalent of a good rug.

David Binney❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That. Drumming. Is. Tight. (Yet amazingly creative). Louis Cole rocks.
Nice seeing Louis hanging very well copping a lot of stinkface-full original risky solid expressions throughout the band.
louis cole is one of my favorite modern drummers.
These guys talent, taste and obsession for disciplining and structuring perfection in musical expression, need to be saluted and respected
Hot damn. Bookmarking this one for listening to in the morning when I have time.
I didn't even know Matt Brewer played electric bass and here he is rocking out as a post Jaco fusion shredder complete with delay trail laden open solo.
How long the algorithm took to present me this collosal gem. thank you so much!
Symbiotic groove especially between Cole & Brewer.👍 Props to the Audio & Video engineers pre & post!😁
I caught myself holding my breath at points. Monumental high wire work.
Holy shit that timing feel is so tight and impeccable bunch of walking metronomes over there
Binney is one of my very favorite people to hear them SHRED.
That was amazing, you can see and hear them bounce off ideas from each other
This was a musical masterpiece! 👏
I think Louis needs a bigger shirt
Wow, incredible video! Thank you Field Jams, for filming and posting this!
Thank YOU for giving the best musicians in LA a home!
Nice! Actually held my attention all the way...that's unheard of these days.
Absolute masters. This is sublime
O so you're the reason when i said something was 'sublime' someone said the word was 'overused'

Man, I'm late to the party! I knew Matt was a beast on upright, but never heard him play electric till this!
Same here.
What a shred! Honestly, the energy is contagious, and LC lends instant tightness and punch to literally anything. Love this!!!
The drummer of ClownCore...a beast
Louis Cole: the only dude you know that can shred with a Snuggie on
Jd beck
One of my mates showed me some of Louis Cole’s shows, he’s a mad case
this is the best thing ever
John Escreet❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loathed jazz/fusion growing up, as I get older I find myself more and more into the freedom of it, and I still love hardcore daily

LC COMES IN AND CHANGES THE GAME
Absolutely Amazing.Just Beautiful Work from An Authentic Place.
Better late than never. Insanely sticato and insanely brilliant.
I interpreted for Binney one time, at a master class.

Tight! love the raw sound!
Was Louis baptized before, during, or after this gig?
At this point he just a whisp of talented air underneath that giant shirt.
@@bwgti; Funny!

Louis Cole❤❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing performance! What a great line up.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!! :)
4:50-5:00 that right there. That's it. He's got it.
Ça joue terrible❤❤❤❤❤
All these musicians are insane
They even mixed the drums like Louis nice
wow, this is wild
I keep having to search for this video from the top of my head. Searching "Louis Cole jazz live" is just not doing it.
Great Sound! What did you use to record it?🙏
Matt Brewer... so good.

That's the odd self-irony of today. Makes perfect sense, and it is sad as hell.
Just because it hasn't received the views it deserves does not mean that those of us who have viewed it didn't love it btw.

Muito bom !!!!!! Pure creativity
Mat Brewer❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow so many questions...When did Dave Binney and Louis Cole team up? Why is John Escreet playing a Kawai?
Anyway, this is a great find. Great music
1) 11 years ago. 2) that's the piano that was/is at Sam First
Killing it
straight up fire!!
Soooo Cooool!
Waouh !!!! Excellent .
We all know that Louis is 8 meters tall but did you know that his t-shirt is 37 kilometers long
Does anyone know if Louis Cole is wearing a 2x or 3x shirt? Love it!
Also, listen to it at 2x speed, blows your mind!
That's a 15xl shirt.
He wore it for a knower concert once.
Its not a shirt, its a tent!
It's made for a fat, lazy, wasteoid...which is neat.
i love the very very end.
incredible!!!!!!!!!!!
Great
That groove!
Holy...
yeah
🔥🔥🔥
UltraJazz
J’adore
unreal...
next level !! wow thanks. hey not related but anyone knows what on those wall ? like giant guitar strings ??
not sure, but the bathroom mirror is on the other side of that wall and follows all the curves. Super trippy!
the guys from clown core clean up real good
What an absolutely insane performance... and an inversely appropriate view count to match.
Louis Cole shredding over here looking like an altar boy 😂
7:20 is prime Louis Cole beat time!
Binney is no joke and neither are his mates
Its weird seeing the drummer for Clown Core not wearing his mask.
He's not ?! Uh-oh
Like he isn't in all LouisCole and Knower ?
this was 19 minutes short
Louis colee
kudos
Which album can I listen this song! So cooool!
it's the title track on David's album "Aliso"
I’m digging Matt’s Spanish flavor in the start.
Epic...
his drums sound like paper. real nice, well placed paper :)
Absolutely brilliant
OMG he drum good…v good…😮👌
Whats that wire going to the neck of the sax??
It's an internal mic. Called IntraMic.
insanity
The Louis Cole Quartet.
I want the pianist and Louis to swap T-shirts.
