This is actually a great tutorial because it really shows how important it is to start off slowly. People have a habit of going way too fast when trying to learn things for the first time, but ya gotta learn to play it slow before ya can play it fast.
also it's typically "harder" to play slow and really in the groove, so even if you can technically play it fast, practicing slow helps the groove thang
As a guitarist, this took me damn near 7 years to actually accept. Eventually I got to a point in my playing where I couldn't just speed my way through something and have it sound really good. It still pains me to play shit slowly, but it's absolutely necessary to develop the proper technique.

Notice the right hand grip. The first finger knuckle bent to form a firm fulcrum. This allows the remaining fingers to pull for increased speed. Also notice the right wrist position not arcing down, this allows the hand from opening to much and helps the fulcrum from opening up.

I think Zach and Louis would actually blend in a very interesting way. I'd love to hear them play together. Zach Hill can really lay down a groove when he wants.
All the drummers on here are thinking - finally. Nice to see some breakdowns of the beats. Joyous. You have an elegant little finger... (pinkie for the Americans?). Thanks for doing this.

You're officially one of my favorite drummers bro. Thanks to Beat 2 I know what to do with all of those Taco Bell napkins in my car. A trick I discovered by accident at a gig one night, I placed a half full/empty can of soda on my side snare and it gave it that 80s electronic snare sound when I hit the drum head w/o thinking about the can being on there. Sounds like something you may have already tried but it was surprising. I used it for any electronic snare sounds I needed since I don't own any triggers or electronics yet. Love your music you have up on RUclips. You're one of the best drummers I've heard in a long time. Really original besides just being good.
I'm in the same boat. My brain just can't process my foot movement on top of what my hands are doing. I can do pretty much all these beats without the kick, but as soon as I add it my brain shuts down and the next thing I know, there is a drumstick pierced through the head of one of my toms.
