Someone said "it's very collegey" and i could not agree more and I mean that in the utmost highest regard. it's just pure unadulterated unfiltered talent that no studio or label could hope to recapture. it's the essence of musicality for music's sake. louis cole and genevieve artadi are national treasures and knower needs to be 1000x more popular.
I grew up in a small rural town where high school talent shows rivaled athletes for garnering popularity among the students. When I first saw/heard knower on youtube my first reaction was...omg this is like the best talent show ever.
I totally agree, what a great description that is! They held on to the collegy'ness after the succes. Spending budget where it musically matters, but otherwise keeping their minds as open and boundless as they have been. Fuck, I love this band, and anything Louis gets involved with.
One of the violinists in this video is a friend of mine. I have sent her the link and asked her to forward it to Louis and Genevieve, so they should see it. I met them both in London a few years ago (through my friend) and they are fantastic people. Great track and great reaction!
Knower really re-ignited my passion for making music. I can't imagine them not being cool. Especially with me tearing up almost every time I listen to Quality Over Opinion by Louis. I'm going to support what they do on Bandcamp any time I can! Hey Geebz. Cheers.
The absolute joy Sam Wilkes shows when playing bass on, like, every video I've seen with him in it, never gets old. That man could be standing there playing one single note through the song and he'd still look like he's having the time of his life.
Louis, the drummer, got nominated for an alternative jazz Grammy this year for his last solo album. He didn’t win but just getting the nom was pretty cool. I want this album to get nominated this year. The every track on this thing is amazing.
the album was released in 2023 and unfortunately didn't make the cut, unlike Louis' solo album (also, how much time does this fucking guy have in day?)
It was a very strongly fielded category, and I was super excited for him to get the nomination. Meshell Ndegeocello took the Grammy in that category. That's nothing to be discouraged over and I hope he knows that. At the rate he is going, he will get his someday!
Geebz, did you know that Clown Core play a few short clips of people reacting to their music videos in the middle of their live shows and there's a little clip of you in there? I saw them in Berlin and it ruled.
@naantjez there's actually a show that I saw recorded online, it might still be up. Sound quality isn't the best, but you'll get to see it if you wanna watch it.
I love ClownCore and Knower so much, everyone around me think I'm a stoner. My GF says to stop to share this on FB, thinks I look stupid and unfatherly to share this. Man ppl don't know shit about music. These guys make me believe in music again, so inspired by them.
Absolutely and you can almost hear the same rhythmic feel of the drums as clown core haha. First thing I thought was "Oh that sounds like clowncore drums? Oh wait it's Knower duh" lol.
I hope I get to see KNOWER live, but i got tp see Louis Cole live and it BLEW MY MIND (he was an opening act to Jacob Collier) BEST.DAY.OF.MY.LIFE Thank you for acknowledging this, one of my favourite tracks of Theirs 😊
I wouldn't know these guys if it wasn't for your first reaction. It's one of my most cherished discoveries of the last decade. And this track is fire. Thank you, man! Awwright!
THIS. IS. ART. Never was aware of Knower previously, now I'm going to dive in. Love it! I have heard Clowncore and loved that too! But this is just... WOW. Thank you for reacting to this! Excuse me, time to indulge in Knower!
The entire album is insanely good. The majority of all the parts for each song were recorded live and you are watching it happen. Dubbed or added parts are generally acknowledge by text (you'll see 'OVERDUB' text, for example) or, as in the case of this video with the string section, you see for a moment a PIP view of the string section playing the "second" part. This occurs at 2:53 of your video. This gutsy, old-school, earthy approach pumps up my admiration for Louis and his cohorts to levels beyond comprehension or explanation. It's just crazy. Immeasurable amounts of talent, and in so many fields. DIY 4 EVR!
When the strings hit ... OMG. Listen to the tension they build in.the second half of the piano solo. I bet Louis wrote every note of that. The man is a fuckin genius.
I just found this today after listening to this song nonstop the last few weeks. Your response was very very similar to mine. As soon as i heard that drum i knew it was clown core .. and i just get so humbled and inspired by these fine musicians through my core
I feel like the overarching story of the entire Knower fanbase is basically the continual process of music nerds showing it to other music nerds and being like, “You feel it too, right?!?”
I discovered this band just a few days ago with this track. I don't know why I never heard of them before, but I can't stop listening to them since, what a treat!
57 y.o. ex funk drummer here and 4:03 was my reaction also🤣 Every section is just great, chorus is true beauty but that outro is heaven. Song is on a loop in my head for 2 weeks now. True excellence 💥
When I first heard that song, I loved it but I wasn't expecting this outro. It's so short but man this took me to a whole different level. Absolutely fantastic.
I just went down the list of musicians in the strings and brass and googled every one. For a handful you need to add their instrument as a search term to get past some other famous person who shares their name, but it was well worth it. There are a lot of active musicians there with their own things going on.
I love watching people spontaneously expressing joy and laughter at art that is so incredible it makes you lol. Makes you remind yourself that wonder exists in the world. That life is beautiful.❤
It’s been golden to see you Struggle through all of this good stuff and be appalled. I’m no composer but you’ve been spot on, humble, and super enthusiastic to so much stuff that’s normally out of range to your generation. Next level, tackle one squarepusher track and let that settle while you process. First rate analysis. Thanks for all the adult supervision.
As a keyboard player I've been listening to the music for more the 30 years. I know thing or two about jazz, funk, soul and classical music. There a lot of legendary musicians, whoes styles and technique are amazing. And we all understand how much time and effort you have to invest in order to become someone. But this guy and his piano solo started at 3:15 left me speechles. This is out of this world. Bravo!!!
In some 50-odd years as a musician, on a handful of occasions I had the transcendent experience of being totally and utterly locked into the piece, feeling a communication with the other members of whatever band that was part psychic, part spiritual, part craft. It's the moments that a true player looks for, and lives for. It's written all over these people's faces, not only on this piece but damn near all of them that I've seen. They've achieved satori, and can seemingly examine each moment in time as though it were motionless. I've been rather jaded after half a century of playing/performing/recording - Knower brings back the life it feels like I've been missing.
I'm back after a month and I have listened to this whole album "Knower Forever" and F!!!!! It's is amazing! So glad you reacted to this so I had a chance to hear this as I am now a huge fan.
I had a rare moment of satori while listening to this for the first time, particularly about youth, and the ability of artists that exist during a certain part of history, and be so comfortably in it to become actual conduits of the zeitgeist. And at the very same time, the god-tier, piano solo tied it together reminded me how every single one of these history shattering artists have been standing on the shoulders of others. What hits so strong about knower is how they do this effortlessly. Surprisingly new sound, but one that hits and makes you understand immediately, reflecting the present like a fucking beat writer during the 70s, and at the same time respectful and loving of the form that came before.
I just discovered this song a few days ago and I was blown away by it. I’m a musician and I have been for about 28 years and this day I have not heard anything like that. At first, I didn’t know what I thought about the song so I had to listen to it a couple of more times before I can draw any sort of conclusion but this one is weird but cool at the same time.
"Pizza" was one of my daughter's first favorite songs and remains so. We will absolutely krump out whenever it comes on my Spotify. She's been jamming to "Do Hot Girls Like Chords" lately too!
Hey man, I haven't seen one of your videos in a bit, but I absolutely love your channel. Keep hanging on. What you give to the world is incredibly valuable. Thanks so much! Aloha!
Phenomenal project this lot have going! Ridiculous talent. Great reaction! If I were Bill Hick's ashtray, this music leaves me full of juicy spliff dimps 🔥

Discovered Louis and Genevieve a few months ago. I am 68, guitarist since I was 10. I drove from Ohio to Chicago to see them play May 1. Mostly youngsters there but I was sitting next to another 68 year old (bassist), and for the half hour before the show all we could do was to gush and try to outdo each other with our love and amazement and Louis and crew. It was truly pathetic and wonderful. These guys make us old musicians believe there's hope for music. And knowing there are so many others (Puppy, DOMi, Loops, etc.) helps slow down the feeling that the world is crumbling. Thank you, Louis, Genevieve, Same, and your network of geniuses.

Rippin! Reminds me of Discipline era King Crimson. I used to get to play with a bass player that this guy reminds me of. He loved playing really percussive stuff like this and working in jacked up jazz times/modes.
I saw another vid of them where they had a choir in the driveway in front of the garage : ) The who property was taken over by music! Found it... "Real Nice Moment"

Can’t wait to see them in April!!!!!
Saw Genevieve at the Baked Potato last week in LA. She was super nice!
The absolute joy Sam Wilkes shows when playing bass on, like, every video I've seen with him in it, never gets old. That man could be standing there playing one single note through the song and he'd still look like he's having the time of his life.
He's the embodiment of what a an old jazz bassist said to me a long time ago: you have to love every note you play.
Man knows how to feel music.
My conspiracy theory is that he's actually a golden retriever who was reincarnated as a bassist.
Take a look at Louis' song "My Buick" because that's exactly what he does in that hahaha.
"My Buick" amirite, mate?
Couldn't agree more!
On an album of absolute bangers - this is my favourite.
Knower never miss.😊❤❤
@@Aut0mati0n It's a bloody masterpiece
I think it was independently released so I doubt it would get a Grammy nom

That's awesome.
My favorite thing about Knower is that you can never get bored with a song.
It's worth mentioning, and quite fucking insane, that Rai Thistlethwayte's piano solo is entirely ONE-HANDED
