Pls continue this project. Decades ago I made my own "Modification" but only using pen and paper to just alter Squall's personality and decision-making and how he treats the people surrounding him. It was more like a "script-change" but only on a personal use basis as I played FF8 because 1998, technology was still limited at that time

I wanted to say lots of thanks for doing this! I absolutely like such fan things. I am so glad that these days we can not only read fanfics but see them become animated. FF8 is not my favorite but I still love it and I may be the only person in this world who doesn't like Rinoa, so I'm very happy to see absolutely new original female character! I really-really-really hope that Rinoa won't be the main love interest and in this alternative timeline Virginia will take her place. Please, let Squall choose Virginia, and let Rinoa stay with Seifer.

I have watched every episode in this series, and I just love the respect you and your team gave to the original game with the additional character scenes as well as with the musical recreations. I have gotten a new-found respect for Zell, especially, partly because the original game made him look like a buffoon, in my view. I'm already enjoying season two of this wonderful series.

@@mikebehan9970 , Laguna appears from time to time in this series, in a series of occasional "dreams of the past" initiated by Ellone. Squall and his team don't actually meet today's Laguna until after they get to Esthar, later in this series.
I think he meant the fact that in this series the first Laguna's dream is posponed after Virginia comes into play. Maybe he didn't see that part yet.
@@FF8FansChannel, here are multiple such dreams in the original game before Squall and his team go to Esthar. The episode you showed recently had Laguna and his friends fighting the dragon, and not long ago, in a previous episode, Laguna and Kiros were protecting Winhill from monsters. My point was that Laguna does not appear often before Squall gets to Esthar, just from time to time until they meet. It pays to watch every one of your episodes to capture your whole story.

@@FF8FansChannel Perfetto, in tal caso ti scrivo direttamente in italiano le mie impressioni, sperando che possano tornarti utili per la seconda parte. Dunque, le battute aggiuntive comiche di Zell e Selphie erano tutte sul pezzo, quelle di Squall (giustamente più pensate che dette) anche, ma a me in particolare è piaciuto da matti come hai riscritto il dialogo di Quistis al centro addestramento con Squall, lei mi piace molto come personaggio, il suo unico problema è quella cotta per Squall che proprio non posso soffrire, perciò grazie, ti farei una statua per averla tra virgolette eliminata, facendole dire che ha scelto di parlare con Squall per sfogarsi con qualcuno che la vedesse come una persona normale e non solo come l'oggetto di un desiderio (magari l'avesse avuta per Seifer la cotta!). Per i cambi di trama ci è piaciuto tanto come hai gestito Timber, rendendo il tutto più realistico, come hai spostato e rielaborato il sogno di Laguna, Ward e Kiros... e a proposito, occhi fuori dalle orbite per la rivelazione di Virginia dopo il primo sogno!!! Siamo super curiosi di vedere cos'hai ideato. P.s ho adorato l'aggiunta di Seifer nello scontro con Herbia, è un altro personaggio che mi piace molto e che spero si prenda maggiore spazio qui. Squall e Rinoa non mi sono mai piaciuti granché, confido molto nella tua riscrittura per riempire quel grande buco sullo sviluppo della loro relazione, per intenderci il passaggio di Squall da "Rinoa levati" di fine cd2 a "Rinoa non posso vivere senza te" di inizio cd 3, ecco lì manca un tassello che permetta di considerare i sentimenti di Squall realistici, è come se mancasse proprio um pezzo che fa vedere come passa dal fingere di snobbarla a provare amore per lei, spero che tu possa aggiustare la cosa con i nuovi dialoghi. A meno che Virginia, da come si intuisce, non debba sconvolgere anche in tal senso le carte in tavola... ripeto, curiosità alle stelle, e scusa per il papiro di messaggio. Penso che ti scriverò altre impressioni quando avremo finito di vedere questa prima parte. Intanto complimenti, è un progetto geniale, sappi che stasera ceneremo guardandocene un altro pezzo :)

Ci sono anche i singoli episodi in video separati se vi mette meglio. La coppia Quistis / Seifer la shippano in tanti. Io la posso capire la cotta per Squall, ma mi dispiace che una volta che Quistis si "toglie di mezzo" per fare spazio a Rinoa, il personaggio di Quistis non ha quasi più un senso nella storia. Avrei voluto che Quistis lottasse per Squall, probabilmente avrebbe fatto evolvere in modo più naturale il rapporto tra Squall e Rinoa invece del buco che tu hai citato. Sarà invece compito di Virginia favorire questa evoluzione e rendere i sentimenti di Squall più "realistici" (stiamo pur sempre parlando di universo fantasy)? Vedremo...
Mi è piaciuto anche il dare "più spazio" a Seifer finché stava al Garden, ora che è passato dall'altra parte è un po' più difficile, ma vedrò cosa riesco a fare.

Cool this would have taken 2yrs to painstakingly work out every scene in such a way we as audience won't go to sleep on wake up 10hrs later and still not at the end but wow this guy's even gone as far as upgrade the entire visuals wow looks great sure hope of ff8 gets a remaster that they add voices

yep, This is the exact scenes that happen in FF8, Ultimecia kept on using Reverse time so she wouldn't die in the story since she knew from the very start that Squall and his team would always beat her.
Well she dies but also she still have to be born :) but the time paradox does not prevent her from dying

I kind of skimmed through curious as to what this was, but a lot of it seems the same, just maybe a bit of different wording? Obviously I can't really judge it since I maybe spent just 10 minutes reading dialogue to a 6 hour video, but I do wanna say good job on what you're doing with the channel, I'm sure your fans appreciate it. Maybe I'll give this a look later on when I got more time so I'll save it for later.
It's like a retelling with lot of extra scenes and more space to all the characters ☺️ the story starts as the same but there is something behind the scenes that could alter SeeD's Destiny. Thanks for watching.
*PLEASE* let this variation be bereft of that completely out-of-the-blue "Oh no! Rinoa fell into a coma and now i'm suddenly smitten with her romantically, oh woe is me...!" by Squall, seriously, especially since Rinoa already HAS a freakin' boyfriend *BEFORE* meeting Squall which, as she eloquently states, is Seifer.
I can only hope that a Quall romance blossoms in this variation since, again, I am *beyond sick* of that "out of nowhere" affection Squall suddenly gains for Rinoa in vanilla FF VIII, seriously... DX

Seifer was always so prideful but the weakest boss ever. I never understood why
Maybe because when he thought he had finally realized his dream he was not too focused on improving himself because he started to fight for the dream of someone else.
@FF8FansChannel that's a good point. Got hooked to the wrong lady it's fascinating how these stories are so close to real life. I miss the old final fantasies because of this. The newer one's tend to be a little too complicated. I do think that ff7 rebirth might be good tho

The true Identity of Ultimecia is actually Selphie but I wonder how will this alternate Destiny will steer the story on this aspect? From the original story, VERY LITTLE is known about Selphie's background since the ONLY info is in the data terminals in the destroyed Garden up North and what you can find there about Selphie's background is next to nothing.

I only came to this conclusion because it was Selphie who asked Squall on what was the name of the beast that was on his default Gunblade and what you entered became the name of the boss of the second phase of the last boss fight.
Second, Selphie's limit break skill. It's magic related and one of the randomized magic she casted feels EERILY similar to Ultimecia's.
Remember, of all the background information on the game's main party members, Selphie's info was THE ONLY ONE that was the most lacking and shrouded in TOO MUCH MYSTERY.

Everytime I see Squall's scene with Quistis feels really bad. Squall missed opportunity for a perfect partner, instead goes for the manipulative girl using her charms to get free soldier manpower, the girl doesn't really care who, clearly aiming for seifer appealing to his white knight complex, but somehow managed so snag squall too.

are there/will there be plans on making this playable for the public once everything is finished? just asking for the sake of curiosity
I would have loved to do that... But it was born just for the fanmade story adaptation. A playable version would have had a lot of limitations to coordinate every scene in the correct order and also to avoid some screen and battle glitches... so in the end it would have been totally another thing compared to what you're seeing. That's the reason this is just for entertainment and to share our passion for this game ☺️ thank you for watching.

Hi. This is just a fanmade mod. Virginia is an original character that meets Squall and the others in an alternate timeline. i didnt finish this on PS1... the cd keeps on hangging/lagging... and wont proceed.. you have to SAVE everytime you go inside a town or before any cutscenes coz 30% chance, the game will freeze!!!! and now that my game palate has evolve. seeing this kind of games doesnt give me any joy anymore.
I wish you could give this game another chance in the future. But it's okay if you like other kind of games of course 👍 thanks for your comment

Oh, man, differents so minor. Why it's alternative? It's almost like an original game.

Tbh it's really not fair that SE focused so much on FF7, when FF8 also have one of the best world too. It also have potential to be an online game, with players choosing between each gardens, competing between gardens to tame GF, there's also so much that can be done with the lore.
Ff8 was an equally good if not better game than ff7.
Problem is, ff7 has Sephiroth, best and coolest antagonist ever created
@@TheLimitTesterFF8 is never better than FF7. This is coming from someone who played FF8 first before FF7 years later. I used to enjoy the concept of Final Fantasy thanks to FF8 but I hated the fact that the storyline focused too much on Squall saving a damsel in distress so many time. Rinoa is not even likeable and his other friends are also annoying as heck. So then I started playing FF7 and damn the storyline is top notch. FF7 will always be better than FF8 like it or not. Just my perspective.
FF8 is loved because of a lot of unexpressed potential. When you see the intro cutscene you see what this game could have been. That was the first FF with graphic improvement and I think the developers were too focused on this side to develop a good background story. Still I think Squall is better than Cloud as a main character and I still prefer the FF8 soundtrack over 7. (And I also like Ultimecia more than Sephiroth if we considered Ultimecia as Edea in the 1st disc)
FF7 universe of course was better expanded and it has the best character of all the series (I think 90% of the success of this game is because of Aerith). Of course they did a great job with all the stuff to expand the universe (Advent Children, Crisis Core, etc.)
Maybe FF8 would have been better developed and considered if they had waited to release it (maybe after 9 or 10). It was too close and at the same time too different to 7.
