  • I make sure oil and fuelling is in good shape prior to the first start in 15 months, then fire up the mighty V8. I finalize the installation of the ‪@JHMotorsportsInc‬ external oil cooler, power steering cooler and a bunch of final assembly before going for a test drive. I reveal the new ‪@BBS_wheels‬ wheels and Firestone tires. Last, the car is treated to a ‪@liquimolywebtv‬ Engine Flush, fresh High Tech oil, Ceratec and Jectron cleaner.

    “I got a hair cut. It’s a little short. Moving on.” Favorite part of the video! Haha. Just picked up a B7 so I’ve been binge watching these videos. You’ve done an amazing job and your attention to detail is impeccable. Can’t wait to see more.

    Great update! I had a question on the wheels, do you notice any rubbing while turning? Looking to throw a 255/40R18 on my 05' S4 Avant. Thank you!

      Nope, it all clears - and I'll note the suspension is relatively stiff to be that low and not make contact with passengers on board or over significant bumps. It helped switching to the 18s though since that overall package was just ever so slightly smaller in diameter than the 19s before it.

    Hey Steve, Wouldn't the oil cooler remain empty until the engine warms up and the thermostat opens allowing oil to flow? 10.8 liters, eh.

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад +1

      So, maybe. One thing I noticed when I bought the JHM kit (and this was confirmed with @_blue4.2 on IG, who's another Albertan S4 owner), was that the thermostat is open in it's static, room temperature state. Seemingly. Those oil cooler theromostats are supposed to be 80-90 degree thermostats, though. There may be part of the design that I don't understand and it acts differently under oil pressure. Not sure. Point being, on the first startup of this video I was under the assumption oil was always flowing to and from the cooler and it was being filled - and to this day my oil level has remained full after the first fill. And that's the second part: the cooler will always be full, just not pressurized. Since this last series I've learned more about oil systems and realized it's a *bit* foolish to think of extra oil capacity as a silver bullet to temperature control and engine safety. For cars like these that need solid oil pressure to avoid timing issues, installing an oil accumulator would be the way to go and could be done in-line with this external oil kit. Food for thought!

    My b7 25q keeps dyin on me - need to replace battery or alternator- good for u tho

    • @FigureItAudi
      @FigureItAudi  Год назад

      Well, no matter which one of those it is, there's room for improvement while you're in there. I would like to swap my battery for something a lot lighter. And if you end up digging into the front for the alternator...the world's your oyster.
