A fun fact. Actually the pilots refused to put Kennedy's body in the cargo hold. They removed a bulkhead and four seats to accommodate the casket. Only then did they take flight.

What a treat. I had the great pleasure of working on this plane in 1974. I had just come out of depot for its annual and they "shelled" out an engine #2 on the left side (shell is when the motor falls apart internally). I was stationed at Castle AFB in Atwater California. I was a flight line supervisor and only 1 of the 2 people that had a top secret clearance on duty that night. The day shift crew had hung a brand new -79 motor on the old spot. (the motor had been specially flown in from depot under guard). It was my job to "trim" or in lay mans terms tune up the new engine. The entire time the bird was on the ground it had been under guard by Security Police with M-16 loaded and ready to fire if anyone went near the plane or anyone even looked out of place.
Upon arriving at 10 p.m. that night only the 2 of us jet engine trim team were allowed near the bird. I was Staff Sargent David Vincent and my partner was Master Sargent Maclaren. It was decided I would be up in the cockpit and Mac would do the ground work for the trim. We were both searched right down to out work manuals and and ID checked against FBI records. In addition since this would require a high speed run 2 times down the runway they also checked my flight qualifications. When after about 1 hour of waiting I was allowed under guard to board. Mac on the ground and me in the left seat and the crew chief in the right. I obtained permission from the tower to do the trim followed by the high speed taxi. Thankfully all went well and the adjustments were very minor. upon shutting down the crew chief invited Mac up to the cabin with me and asked if we would like a personal tour.
I can tell you that this video showed basically how the plane was configured at the time it transferred Kennedy back home. I can not tell you everything (nor have I ever told my wife of 45 years) what I saw on that plane that night. But it will be forever etched in my mind. The war room has been changed to the general config shown here, but, what was really in there was amazing. The communication section he showed you here also contained the switchboard for the entire world! All the president had to so was pick up the phone and dial. And yes those are the original phones you saw. The old AT&T princess touch tone phones ( no they were not dial but early touch tone). The other thing that has been modified is that there used to be a bedroom in the back of the plane behind where they stored the presidents coffin.
I to this day of hate and civil unrest still feel proud and blessed to have had the chance to see this plane and to have had the privilege to actually high speed taxied it. And to know all the intimate secrets that it held. Thank you for the video and if anyone ever has the chance to see this plane in person you will not be disappointed because as good as this video is when you stand there on that floor and look around it is awe inspiring. Finally and to know that in the flight records of June 1974 is my signature as of the Trim Team Supervisor is recorded for anyone that wanted to see it will be forever saved with Air Force 1. Staff Sargent David Vincent SAC USAF retired

Lol trust me you don't know any "intimate secret" nor do you know ALL the secrets🤣... You wouldn't even be able to comprehend it as a pilot if you were to be told. I'm a design engineer on the next gen air force one and have a lot of my creations on it and I don't even know all the design secrets/details of it. Not one person does - even our chief engineers. No one person will be allowed to know all the secret as that's a massive security risk. But I guess I appreciate all your exaggerations for a good story.

Hey Andrew, great to see you take some time to look at the museum. I love your channel and I live here in Dayton. This is the largest display of Air Force One planes in the country. Just so you know it mite not look like it but when they put the display together they made it so that they will be able to get the next Air Force One (the 747) in there when it is retired soon. That plane will also be open to the public. So you will have to make another trip.

Travelling aboard a C130 is not all that bad, provided it is not crammed with cargo or passengers. Otherwise, there is usually plenty of legroom and, once it is up to cruising altitude, you can even take your sleeping bag and stretch out on a flat space somewhere in the back. It is very noisy, but that’s what ear defenders are for. It is also pretty slow for long-haul journeys.

Great seeing this video pop up in my suggestion. My family and I were just there oct.10 and spent 5 hours there and couldn’t even manage to look through it all. We definitely will need to go again in the future. Awesome tourist attraction being that we lived all the way in Hawaii. It’s crazy to see how much history these planes have and what they went through, especially the older fighter planes with all the bombs on the side of the aircraft showing its missions it’s been through. It kind of gives you goose bumps! Hands down favorite aircraft was the A-10 warthog!
We even got to ride the simulator which I now know I can’t fly to save my life lol
Still was a blast. We stayed at the wright Patterson Air Force base which was a short distance to the museum.
Anyways don’t want to bore you with a story lol
Thanks again for making this video being that we missed some of the aircrafts that you walked through.

Andrew, I thoroughly enjoyed your tour. Growing up in the DC area, I had the luxury of going on a White House tour without my parents having to travel to our nation's capital for the purpose. I got to see Congress in session, and learn about other aspects of our government first-hand. We also had access to the Smithsonian, and often visited those museums on a whim. I was very fortunate, but we never had the pleasure of seeing the inside of the president's plane. I'm sorry my parents aren't alive to enjoy the gift you gave me this morning.
I will say this, too, for your benefit. Had my parents not raised me to know how to conduct myself properly in a public setting, we could not have done any of those things. They could take me anywhere, because they taught me how to behave everywhere.

I agree that kids should take control of kids, but THEYRE KIDS. I work with kids and I have to say, many kids dont listen to their parents. Unless you physically leash your kid, which many people will find cruel, kids will just be kids. You have to get out of that boomer mentality. Plus, the woman apologized for it (I'm assuming it was sincere and not full of sass, but I can't tell from this audio), so don't be so harsh on them!
