What a treat. I had the great pleasure of working on this plane in 1974. I had just come out of depot for its annual and they "shelled" out an engine #2 on the left side (shell is when the motor falls apart internally). I was stationed at Castle AFB in Atwater California. I was a flight line supervisor and only 1 of the 2 people that had a top secret clearance on duty that night. The day shift crew had hung a brand new -79 motor on the old spot. It was decided I would be up in the cockpit and Mac would do the ground work for the trim. We were both searched right down to out work manuals and and ID checked against FBI records. In addition since this would require a high speed run 2 times down the runway they also checked my flight qualifications. When after about 1 hour of waiting I was allowed under guard to board. Mac on the ground and me in the left seat and the crew chief in the right. I obtained permission from the tower to do the trim followed by the high speed taxi. Thankfully all went well and the adjustments were very minor. upon shutting down the crew chief invited Mac up to the cabin with me and asked if we would like a personal tour. Been to this museum....I recommend Everyone go! It holds WWII B-52 bomber "Memphis Belle", Stealth Bombers, missiles, nukes...even a Kamikaze plane. The range of aircraft, from Wright planes onward is an absolutely Unforgettable experience! I was SO Excited to find this video, when I visited, there was So much to see, we had to leave before I could get to Air Force One. We will be returning (with our well-behaved kids next time😉)! Even if planes aren't your "thing", this place will inspire your imagination and bring new appreciation for all the brave people who have used these aircraft to protect this nation and help defend others. 🇺🇸

Kennedy's plane had a third pilots seat. I got to ride in this seat on one short trip. I was a US Navy Photographer, and was invited to sit up in the cockpit. This trip was in the summer of 1961.
Hey Andrew, great to see you take some time to look at the museum. I love your channel and I live here in Dayton. This is the largest display of Air Force One planes in the country. Just so you know it mite not look like it but when they put the display together they made it so that they will be able to get the next Air Force One (the 747) in there when it is retired soon. That plane will also be open to the public. So you will have to make another trip.
great video tour...i was there about 3 weeks ago with my sister..yes things have changed alot over the years with these...this was the first time in over 40 years that i was able to see these aircraft...they did display them on the base...with bus transport....but when i would visit...the busses were not running....anyway thanks for the VIP tour andrew
Added to my previous ...the reason square windows were a flaw was because they were found to not be able to sustain the pressure ...hence reason why we have the type windows today on planes ....history I love it 😀
Travelling aboard a C130 is not all that bad, provided it is not crammed with cargo or passengers. Otherwise, there is usually plenty of legroom and, once it is up to cruising altitude, you can even take your sleeping bag and stretch out on a flat space somewhere in the back. It is very noisy, but that’s what ear defenders are for. It is also pretty slow for long-haul journeys.
When it flies the president it has its devoted Air Force maintenance crew. Those engines are checked and checked after every return to andrews AFB. Civilian aircraft fly for months without this type of inspection. So Air Force one should NEVER have engine problems.
Great seeing this video pop up in my suggestion. My family and I were just there oct.10 and spent 5 hours there and couldn’t even manage to look through it all. We definitely will need to go again in the future. Awesome tourist attraction being that we lived all the way in Hawaii. It’s crazy to see how much history these planes have and what they went through, especially the older fighter planes with all the bombs on the side of the aircraft showing its missions it’s been through. It kind of gives you goose bumps! Hands down favorite aircraft was the A-10 warthog! We even got to ride the simulator which I now know I can’t fly to save my life lol Still was a blast. We stayed at the wright Patterson Air Force base which was a short distance to the museum. Anyways don’t want to bore you with a story lol Thanks again for making this video being that we missed some of the aircrafts that you walked through. Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏻
Dam, at the museum of flight here in Seattle they too have a air Force one but the interior design is way different and doesn't even have the presidential seal on it, I actually like the one in this video better than the one I went to see.
This museum is awesome. I've been going there since I was a kid in the '70's' They have multiple Presidential air frames, including the AF1 that brought back Kennedy's body from Dallas.
Andrew, I thoroughly enjoyed your tour. Growing up in the DC area, I had the luxury of going on a White House tour without my parents having to travel to our nation's capital for the purpose. I got to see Congress in session, and learn about other aspects of our government first-hand. We also had access to the Smithsonian, and often visited those museums on a whim. I was very fortunate, but we never had the pleasure of seeing the inside of the president's plane. I'm sorry my parents aren't alive to enjoy the gift you gave me this morning. I will say this, too, for your benefit. Had my parents not raised me to know how to conduct myself properly in a public setting, we could not have done any of those things. They could take me anywhere, because they taught me how to behave everywhere.
I agree that kids should take control of kids, but THEYRE KIDS. I work with kids and I have to say, many kids dont listen to their parents. Unless you physically leash your kid, which many people will find cruel, kids will just be kids. You have to get out of that boomer mentality. Plus, the woman apologized for it (I'm assuming it was sincere and not full of sass, but I can't tell from this audio), so don't be so harsh on them!
well, it's part of this video. why he didn't just cut it out? well, it was probably important to him to make this point. he says it more than once. Fun fact, I didn't really understand what exactly was bothering him. That's just sad, because it was an interesting video. but I don't want to make a big deal out of this. Have a nice day. ;-)
I became annoyed with him repeatedly complaining about the kids. If you don't like it, then go on a weekday. In addition I didn't get the impression he was particularly informed about what he was filming.
I am guessing this guy does not have any kids, If he ever has children he will learn very fast that is what kids do. They are excited seeing the place and it is an adventure for them.
Been to Wright Patterson and the air museum twice. Very nice. They had demos of the atomic weapons. B29 bomber. SR-71 and YF-12. If you go plan the whole day. One day I would love to go again. 👍
A friendly correction, Clinton never flew on the VC137C SAM 26000, the 747 version VC25 SAM 28000 & 29000 entered service during the HW Bush administration, VC-137C SAM 26000 was place in the backup fleet in 1972, therefore, Clinton only flew on the VC25 version on shorter trips on VC 137C SAM 27000. I’m not sure if Monica accompanied him in his 747 private quarters.
A fun fact. Actually the pilots refused to put Kennedy's body in the cargo hold. They removed a bulkhead and four seats to accommodate the casket. Only then did they take flight.

This was most exciting! Have been to smithsonian institution several times but realize there is so much more to see. I love tech museums in US!
I think Memphis Belle was a b-17 Flying Fortress but yeah this video is super cool!!
@@laurenkanadesigns2896 You are correct! She is a B-17 Flying Fortress, Thank You for that correction! 🙂 I really hope you get to go see it if you have not yet! Sooo worth it!!
This is a great Museum. I really enjoyed the time I visited it.
Ive been to this museum and it’s amazing!
Been by there several times going into Wright-Patterson AFB but went inside once. Nice content Andrew. Thank you sir. 🇺🇸
Thank you for watching sir.
🇺🇸✈️🇺🇸✈️
We take our boys there every year! We’ve been in all of those planes! It’s pretty cool!
I hope you control your kids....this asshole might make comments and criticize your bad parenting if you don't. He is Fucking child hater. He forgot he was once a kid. I bet his parents used to lock him up in a closed and beat him.
@@808G8GT lmao damn
Kennedy's plane had a third pilots seat. I got to ride in this seat on one short trip. I was a US Navy
Photographer, and was invited to sit up in the cockpit.
I didn't know that. Thank you for sharing! I will definitely be back. Do you know when that bird is going to retire?
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele We have to what until 2024.
@@caddi101 Thank you for sharing that!
The Ronald Reagan library has the old air force one in display that you can go inside. It’s truly an awesome experience.
Go to NAS Pensacola it’s huge!! It will take you all day to get through it. So much aircraft!
great video tour...i was there about 3 weeks ago with my sister..yes things have changed alot over the years with these...this was the first time in over 40 years that i was able to see these aircraft...they did display them on the base...with bus transport....but when i would visit...the busses were not running....anyway thanks for the VIP tour andrew
The name Independence was from his hometown. Independence Missouri.
I try to make it out here at least once or twice a year, such an awesome trip.
What beautiful plains.
"Plains" yup ok
Very nice tour I really appreciated this a lot Air Force One 707 is magnificent.
This guy hates kids. He spoke about this numerous times!!! Jeez buddy.
yeah I can tell. He's unreasonably rude and shitty towards them.
He wouldn't say that shit to a dad, only a mom.
Thats why he will never able to have kids
I hate kids too. So what
They are annoying though especially while filming so I totally feel him
Added to my previous ...the reason square windows were a flaw was because they were found to not be able to sustain the pressure ...hence reason why we have the type windows today on planes ....history I love it 😀
You guys are being way too hard on him. He even said he was an RV Guy and was making a stop here.
It doesn't excuse his hateful attitude towards children screw him I will never watch another one of his videos.
Promise???
Chip Cremeans ???? He said he wasn't gonna film them (for privacy)
I have been to Wright Patterson 3 times when I fly to Ohio for training at G.E. My favorite part of the trip.
My God father was the crew chief of of AF1 when Regan and Busch were in office
Very cool!
that is very cool
my father was a pilot of AF 1
My father flew the plane on 9/11
I bet your Godfather knew how to spell their names.
Everything is so claustrophobic now that it’s been plexiglassed off. If I ever visit, I’d stay outside the planes and admire their beauty.
I HAVE TO GO THERE!!!
Isn't it interesting how air force one never has any engine problems
It probably doesn't because it's used for transportation for the president, if it did, the president would have a talk with the engineers.
When it flies the president it has its devoted Air Force maintenance crew. Those engines are checked and checked after every return to andrews AFB. Civilian aircraft fly for months without this type of inspection. So Air Force one should NEVER have engine problems.
Because they probably get Serviced the Second they Land and the time he’s in the motorcade
Of course fool it's maintained better than any other aircraft in the USA
I went like 4 years ago to this museum and they have really upped the security it looks like. I also remember that the food court wasn’t too bad
Damn man haha didnt even hear a kid really at all, dont go to a zoo or you might loose your shit haha
That's because he didn't edit them in.
I didn’t think the kids were that bad! That’s why they are kids. Not like they were running WILD
haha I was like thanks for the PSA dude and how do you deal when you go out in public
@@akhilkoya edit them in? I dont think he would try to make himself look like an asshole haha
@@wyldeman0O7 guy definitely complains about the neighbors watching tv at 8pm
I live in Huron I've always want to go to that Museum and see that plane thanks for showing it
Definitely worth the stop and it is free if you ever get a chance. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing this video! I enjoyed it tremendously!
Thank you for that historic video!
We even got to ride the simulator which I now know I can’t fly to save my life lol
Still was a blast. We stayed at the wright Patterson Air Force base which was a short distance to the museum.
Anyways don’t want to bore you with a story lol
Thanks again for making this video being that we missed some of the aircrafts that you walked through.
Aloha from Hawaii🤙🏻
Wow that was awesome thank you so much for the tour hope maybe you can do it again and show some other ones also.
I've been to the Air Force Museum a lot cause my dads a Air Force veteren and I live in the Dayton area
You're welcome and thank you for enlightening my mind!
I actually agree, I hate annoying kids and parents that are completely inconsiderate of everyone else.
kevin Poo what do u mean
The poor kids are just having fun.
You were also an annoying kid
Thanks for the tour, always wanted to check the Pres's planes out but never made it up there so kudo's to you for sharing it with us . . Awesome !!
Holy fuck don't treat your kid like a dog and instead discipline them if they do something bad.
Not true at all
Jeremy Jackson agreed
I walked through the Air Force One on display at the Reagan Museum. It was a 707 and I was surprised at how small it was.
kids can be annoying sometimes.
Adults who have forgotten that they were once a child themselves annoy me even more.
#fremdschämen
vstw174 so true
How is this even related to this video
well, it's part of this video.
why he didn't just cut it out?
well, it was probably important to him to make this point.
he says it more than once.
@@vstw174 right haha sounded quite as hell, hate to see how he reacts to some real trouble makers haha
Terrific vid on a little moment of history. Thank you Andrew. It was most informative!
All aircrafts are cool, but this guy seems hating kids. LOL!!!
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
I am guessing this guy does not have any kids, If he ever has children he will learn very fast that is what kids do. They are excited seeing the place and it is an adventure for them.
Yeah, I got mad at him when he got frustrated with the kid, he is JUST A KID
marvelous aircraft’s that they are, Especially Marine One... great vid
Kids yelling omg! That’s called excitement. Live with it, they have as much right to be there as you do.
But it's ok to tell my to hurry up so they can play surprise games? It's a museum, not a gymnasium.
@@RVingwithAndrewSteele Check your spelling.
Robert Boggs
No they don't they don'y have the right to be anywhere.
Carla Lyles Yea they really do, it’s called freedom.
Been to Wright Patterson and the air museum twice. Very nice. They had demos of the atomic weapons. B29 bomber. SR-71 and YF-12. If you go plan the whole day. One day I would love to go again. 👍
No that’s not ok, you should be able to enjoy your visit also.
Nice video Andrew - Thanks for sharing.
The video was made even better with your public service message about managing kids!!!

content good , presenter is an IDIOT !
He did
Thank you for the shout out to Veterans.
The Boeing museum in Seattle is also Soo cool, they have JFK's air Force one and a few others if I remember correctly
Well your mistaken,JFK'S Air Force One is in Dayton,Wright Pat!
We just drove by the museum on rt 70 heading to Columbus Ohio.
Thanks for the great video.
Awesome presentation
Thank you! I appreciate that. Columbus is a great town, I stayed there after going to the museum. Safe travels!

Love your comment to this jerk.
I've been in that plane. Viewed the area where LBJ was sworn in. Remember, the iconic photo? I couldn't believe how small the space was.
