Excellent, ive just picked up a bantem 175 which is appearing to have no spark so this video could be handy when I get round to it!

I don't see why you would have to check for TDC. You should be able to turn the engine until the point wiper arm is on the high lobe of the/a cam and set the points. I done 2, 4, 6, and 8 cyl. engines back in the day, magneto and battery systems, never once pulling plug(s) to check for TDC or any other timing marks. Turn the engine over until wiper arm is on any lobe and set the points--done.

Hi mate . Sometimes the cam woodruff key becomes worn or slightly bent. Checking TDC isn't a bad idea on a 70 year old machine .

What if you have no spark at the points…? 1956 D3 battery.

Is that right that a typical page in a book is the required 14 thou hence feeler gauge not needed ?

Feeler gauge is better mate . Sometimes when your on the road you'll find that a thin bit of card will do. Cigarette packet is the "Bantamites" favourite ! lol

I would think that a 1988 125 CZ would be similar to an MZ 125 TS
The early bantams have a magneto ignition without a battery powered coil set up. I made a video about a 1987 MZ , hope it helps .
