Offroad Trailer Vs. Forklift - Testing the Tip Over Point and Ball Hitch

We used a fork lift to test how far the offroad trailer could be tipped while attached to the truck with a 2 inch ball hitch, and then we tested how far it could be tilted before it wanted to flop over. We were surprised at the results!

I appreciate the video. I've been looking for just how much articulation a 2" ball can handle so that parts awesome. But those audio levels, man. Whoa. I woke up all my coworkers. Either I can't hear you talking, or everyone on the other side of the room can hear your music.

Cool trailer and test! I feel like a 2 inch ball can take a lot more than 12 degrees. I think we've done a lot worse than that with ours. Subscribed!

Yeah actually I was kind of surprised as well that the flex for that was that little. Of curse we didn't push it to the extent that it popped the mechanism in the coupler... we just went by when the coupler was pushing up against the body of receiver just below the ball. It would be interesting to see how much more it could be pushed before failure, maybe with a coupler that you don't care about. I'd also like to see what a failure actually looks like. Nice video, I wonder how far it could go with a Pintle hitch. You know a loc n roll could go to about 40degs.

How about vertical up and down like reversing up a hill how much can the 2" ball take without the trailer coming off?

Which beach you going to this fall? I think you are in NC as well.

Yeah that's right, I'm in central NC, so halfway between the mountains and the beach. I actually have four different trips planned to either the beach or near the beach, and one of them is a return to Cape Lookout in late October. We have 12 trucks headed out there, three of them pulling offroad trailers. Nearly all the trucks have cool and unique overland setups, so I'd like to do a video that is a quick walk through of a bunch of overland builds that work well for off the grid living at Cape Lookout. Stay tuned!
