Red made a huge mistake prioritizing the 5/4/11 over plowing Orange to the 9/10 in my opinion. I don't think the 5/4/11 really improved Red's setup that much, whereas taking the 9/10 before Orange would have turbo-charged Red's production and win condition in the mid through late game as well as diminish Orange's variance.
Great insight! Another thing to consider is that the additional sheep, and brick really don’t help their game. Where are they going to expand by doubling their brick? They can’t really play road feasibly, whereas they over produce on wood, and the wood port in their hands would be just as strong if not stronger than oranges. Thank you for the comment!
@@shadesonbroadway Yeah, I definitely agree there. Brick and sheep are hardly complementary resources, so it just further muddled Red's indecisiveness in deciding on a win condition. Granted getting on an additional wheat hex is nice, but you can't reliably bank on the 11 rolling much to begin with. Had Red successfully executed the plow to the 9/10, in contrast........it not only gives Red such a beast of a port to address the shortcoming of their 6 Wheat being very blockable and being able to city up much faster, it also makes their Longest Road play logistically easier in that it also somewhat sabotages Orange's chances at maintaining it long-term with little wood to balance their wood production and a 2:1 ore port all but certainly insufficient in keeping up with Red's frenetic 2:1 wood conversions barring some huge intervention via ambitious trades with Black.
Great analysis and good speed of game play. I look forward to more.

Exactly why I never play Catan anymore, too luck based.
