Hermaeus Mora never had a claim on LDB's soul. LDB's soul is a part of Akatosh. It wouldn't be so easy to claim it since Akatosh has the strongest claim to it. Your race doesn't matter, your soul does. The Argonians return to the hist and the Bosmer to the earth bones because they have Argonian and Bosmer souls and also their beliefs. You have a dragonsoul. An argonian dragonborn will not return to the hist.
Also, although the Aedra are said to be weak. Akatosh did get worshipped throughout multiple kalpas increasing his power and he did whoop molag bal's ass in his own realm. So let's calm down with the "he can't fight for your soul" thing. Akatosh is incredibly powerful.

I feel like the dragonborn's story is one of him/her ascending to become a new god or god-like.
During the dragonborn's journey, they read multiple elder scrolls, the oghma infinium, seven black books, As well as multiple books in Hermeaus Mora's realm which not only grant you power and let's you exit the realm but most likely grants you knowledge as well. They also wield tons of different Aedra and Daedric weapons and artifacts. And if that wasn't enough, the dragonborn slays countless dragons. And with each dragon's death, they absorb the dragons soul, knowledge and life force. And remember dragons are ageless beings, so one dragon soul could contain an untold amount of knowledge and secrets.
I don't think the dragonborn goes crazy or eventually gets trapped anywhere like Hermaus Mora's realm. I think when the dragonborn's life is over, instead of dying, they will ascend, to become a god (like Talos did) or become the new world eater or maybe even return to Sovengarde to rule over there (which is why Shor's throne is empty and you can sit in it.)

The Dragonborn will never die. They'll pull a John Constantine. When Constantine found out he had terminal lung cancer, he quickly sold his soul to several different demons. Then when he died, they all showed up to claim his soul. He pointed out that they were going to have to fight over it, which would end up destroying all of them and probably all their realms as well, at which point the demons all realised they had no choice but to ensure Constantine stayed alive until they could figure the whole situation out. The Dragonborn's situation is the same - every Aedra and Daedra they pledged themselves to has to keep them alive as long as they can, to keep the others from claiming the soul.
Serious answer, I think you're underrating the power of the Aedra. We routinely see the power of the divines defeating the power of the Daedric princes. The Aedra have less 'discretionary' power - they can't manifest themselves and make pacts with mortals etc - but their power is deeper, more profound, and more tied to the natural powers and forces of the universe. They're closer to the universe, while the Daedra live outside it. In a situation as deeply tied to the universe as the cycle of life and death, I can well imagine that the _deep_ power of the Aedra could defeat the _wide_ power of the Daedra. Hell, Lorkhan's supposed to be dead, but he can still maintain Sovngarde. As for the story about the harbinger of the Companions being claimed by Hircine, I don't think that really parallels the situation of the Dragonborn. Firstly, we're talking about the dead Shor, not Akatosh; secondly, we're talking about a more or less insignificant mortal who made a foolish deal with Hircine, not the chosen champion of Akatosh. A single foolish warrior who made a bad decision to pledge himself to Hircine may well not be worth fighting for, while the Dragonborn? The Dragonborn would be worth it.

    • @PhoenixFlame321
      @PhoenixFlame321 3 года назад +24

Maybe that's why Hermaeus Mora stole Miraak off BEFORE he died, so he wouldn't have to fight Akatosh for Miraak's soul, and kept him alive, despite his champion having become extremely disloyal, so his soul would be absorbed by his replacement.
So in a sense Hermaeus Mora didn't lose anything at all (that is, assuming the Last Dragonborn won't get away from Apocrypha permanently after the DLC)

As far as I can tell, assuming all quests are canon, only Akatosh, Molag Bal, Hermaeus Mora, Boethiah, Mehrunes Dagon, Sithis, Hircine, and Nocturnal actually have a guaranteed claim to the Dragonborn's soul. Shor only gets it if the Dragonborn is a Nord, and most of the Daedra don't need you to pledge allegiance to them. My story: As Dragonborn opens his eyes, before him he sees all the Daedric Princes, whom he served to. They wanted to battle for his soul, but Hermaus Mora had a different solution to their issue. Let the Dragonborn face their champions, and if he loses, Daedra who's champion defeated him shall claim his soul. After he picks up his sword, he prepares to head to the arena, and first champion he faces is the champion of Boethiah. They draw their blades, ready to face eachother. Dragonborn slashes forward, but his foe is much faster, and smarter. He slashes above him, so Dragonborn is forced to block it, getting staggersd in the process. His foe manages to kick him. Dragonborn falls to the ground, but he cannot get up. He is too weak. And just as he got ready to accept his fate, and the Champion he fought against raises his blade, he hears: *"Yol, TOR SHUL!"* , up burning him away. Daedra turn to see who did it, thinking someone broke the truce. And upon sesein who done it, they all scream in terror, fleeing. As Dragonborn looks up he sees a large, orange dragon. Before he has a chance to do anything, dragon rises his head and says: "Hun Daal Hofkiin!" Everything goes black, and as he opens his eyes, he sees nothing, but also everything. Next to him is the same orange dragon he saw before. There also stands Alduin. Orange dragon looks him and says: "You've done well. But it was never your's to decide the fate of Nirn. Daedra tried to take another child of mine away. I would never let them do it again. All Dov belong to me, and so do their souls." He turns his head to the black dovah, saying: "It is time, Alduin." Alduin approaches the Last Dragonborn. He opens his mouth and speaks: "Hail, Dovahkiin, you who waged war with me since you knew of the World Eater. We finnaly meet, and part in peace." He says, before flying away. After some time, bright, blue light glows. "It's done, at last." Akatosh says, as world fades away, in darkness. However, a light starts returning, and as Dragonborn opens his eyes he hears: *"Hey you, you're finnaly awake."*

They all wait for 1000 years after Skyrim, then they realize the dragonborn is a vampire and wait another 1000 years for him/her to get themselves killed. Afterwards, they watch his every step together on their hyperdimensional couch through a hyperdimensional TV for all eternity. This meant that they stopped answering prayers from followers, but it didn't matter because the dragonborn had already sold almost all their artifacts to random vendors, and only kept a few, which he keeps using.

This theory ignores one other. That the dragonborn is actually the reincarnation of Shor, which is why Shor's throne is empty when you visit Sovrengard. If that's the case, then no one gets the dragonborn's soul, as when his mortal form finally dies, he would simply ascend once more unto godhood.

So technically the Dragonborn, Talos, Wulfhearth and Lorkhan are the same entity. Even after tearing out Lorkhan's heart, Auriel and Trinimac and no other god could claim Lorkhan's soul. Because he was a god damn god himself.

There isn't going to be a fight over the Dragonborn's soul. The Dragonborn is a stand in for the Thor role in the Norse Death of the World Tree mythos. In that mythos Thor fights the world tree killing creature numerous times before finally being defeated which brings on the end of the world. However in the mythos as the World Tree dies (Kapla ends) the Tree comes back to life in a new form and Thor or whatever his name now is starts the whole process against the same world killing enemy all over again. The Dragonborn and Alduin are linked, trapped in a permanent war between mortal and immortal sides of time, that's why you can't absorb Alduin's soul after defeating him in the game, Alduin probably does not even fully understand that killing you ends the world as he is in effect killing the mortal side of time which is both eternal and finite, and also in effect killing himself. It's also why Alduin seems to be able to bring back almost any dragon he wants to bring back. He is in effect drawing dragon souls from the pool you, the Dragonborn, previously put them in during your last physical manifestation. When the Dragonborn dies he probably goes back to sleep with Alduin, or returns to become part of the "sleeping god" to await the next turn of the prophetic page and the next end of world moment.
You and Alduin are two sides of the same god, Alduin is sleeping most of the time and you are part of that mortal dream of an immortal deity. So no matter how many Princes you promise yourself to no matter how weird you run your character in the end you are Alduin and Alduin is you and everybody gets nothing because you die and return to sleep with the rest of your scaly existence.

What if the two of them are two sides of the coin that is Akatosh? Probably doesn’t mesh with canon, but it’s cool to think about!

He may be the weakest of the deities, but he's still no pushover.
Frankly, HM doesn't have control over Skyrim because his priority isn't conquest, it's acquisition of knowledge and the power therein.

Or theory number 2 Which is we should probably stop thinking about the dragonborns soul as a singular thing... For every dragon they killed they Probably have A entirely separate soul.... Give one to each daedric prince that is Owed one then send the soul That actually Contains him to whatever Afterlife he wants And the rest are just blank souls

Mentioning the fact that souls are recycled (a lá reincarnation) and not dispersed like say the good place lore is a bit of a clue. After all, they all end up in jail. They need the hero to have a soul to make the exact same mistakes in different lives...

  • @bernardoguittileite680

I believe that completing all of the daedric side quests is most likely simply a choice for the players. The dragonborn is not just "someone that is figuring out TES lore", he actually lives in Tamriel and knows a fair bunch of it. That said, it's most likely that he woldn't pledge his soul to all of the Daedric Princes. The Dragonborn DLC however, is something that has more at play than just a Daedra, it has Miraak threatning Tamriel so it's likely that the last dragonborn would take interest in finding out more. As for what I believe will be his fate, Hermaeus Mora has a good chance to keep the Dragonborn as his servant (not necessarily when he dies, for he's been keeping Miraak alive for years). I think that the killing of Miraak by his hands (or should I say, "tentacles") served as an example to the last dragonborn -"you either pledge allegiance to me or you die" sort of thing - let's not forget that the Dovahkiin was in Mora's realm, so the Prince could do anything he actually liked (unless the protagonist is indeed an avatar of Shor, then he would stand a little more chance against Mora). Another argument for this is that Bethesda likes to "vanish" with the Elder Scrolls protagonists, so maybe an ending in Apocrypha for the last dragonborn is at play.

Don't forget his Avatar in Oblivion was capable of defeating Mehrunes Dagon in a one on one fight, implying at a bare minimum, he's on par with a Daedric Prince. Akatosh Is also a weaker aedra who lost proportions of his power at the beginning of creation. Remember aadra permanently spent power on the mundus creation. Daedra did not.
Therefore so what happened is simple. Obviously. While a Akatosh avatar can fight a Mehrunes Dagon avatar. The main god himself fighting several gods, not just avatars of the spirit. Akatosh might be overpowered.
