Dark Matter was an amazing show. The premise was fascinating, the characters were multi dimensional, the writing was sharp, and the cast was phenomenal. I waa so disappointed when it was cancelled.
I can’t believe no one talks about Dark Matter. It’s got the writing and production quality of the better Stargate SG-1 seasons, plus one of the best opening narrative hooks in television.
Yeah, there are millions of Videos, reviews and reactions for Star Trek and Star Wars but the Videos for Dark Matter, well you can count them with your 2 hands. That sucks. Trek and Wars, although i love those huge franchises, are drawing all the attention on themselves, preventing a Show like Dark Matter to give air to breathe.
Great overview of this series it was different and interesting I think with a bit more budget it would have helped. The set for the ship was excellent, weapons, costumes ect. CGI needed a bit more work. Overall it was one of my favorite show worthy of a rewatch.
@@Phintasmoexactly, this little low Budget show is thousand times Better than anything Star Trek and Star Wars turned out in Recent years. Less is more.

I was a bit peeved that this one got cancelled and Killjoys (which started the same time and aired in tandem) kept going. Not that Killjoys was terrible, it just wasn’t a patch on Dark Matter! At least it got three solid seasons and many of its stories got good conclusions. They definitely had some big plans for future stories though.

My passion overflows on this topic. Yes, it was a good show and I got invested into the show. I enjoyed the acting, writing, The sets, and show brought characters I cared about. Yes, It had some woke elements to it, on the dawn of the woke age of Hollywood mind virus. But for me it wasn't bad enough to ruin the experience of the show. It did have a huge cliffhanger at the end of season 3. I was very interested in season 4 and I could not wait for it to come out. But sadly, the powers to be, canceled the show in production they're in. To say the least, that pissed me off to no end. In my view, the most Important commodity we have is Time. Time I invested in the show went down the drain by some Executive A$$hole. This prove to me that Hollywood did not give a $hit about us, "The Audience". So for me, ever since the end of this show. I have not cared two fly'n F*CK's about #Hollywood ever since. Me as the viewer, if you do not treat me with respect then "F*CK YOU" Hollywood and the industry. Thank you for reading this RANT, It is greatly appreciated.
I'd love to see your take on Continuum. Six's actor plays a major character in it. Time travel, corporate greed, a terrorist cell that may have the right ideas, but has violence in its DNA...
Continuum does a lot with what looks like a really limited budget. I've watched the first couple of seasons and really need to find the time to finish it. I've got a soft spot for these sci-fi shows that are filmed up in Canada - you end up seeing the same actors and locations pop up in all of them!
@@Phintasmo continuum was amazing. Loved that every season we got to find more and more about the future, to find out eventually that it was actually a dystopia, and the bad guys were in reality rebels with somewhat questionable methods.
I remember there was a fun episode where they go back in time to Earth and are helped out by two teens, one of whom clearly has a crush on Five. When they're about to leave, Five tries to do the whole "we can't be together, but maybe that other teen secretly has a crush on you and you can date her!" only for the kid to point out that the other teen is actually his first cousin, and they have no interest in committing incest.
Both that and the Groundhog Day episode you mentioned are so much fun! That one even threw in the unexpected jump to the future which added new layers to the show. All the best episodes made good use of its excellent cast of characters.
@Phintasmo well it has been aired but not everywhere I believe it will be on prime in October but there are ways of watching it ... some may be less then legit
I loved this show as well, and was incredibly bitter they cancelled it instead of Killjoys, which didn't resonate with me (I admit only gave that one a 2 or 3 episode shot, but it just felt like the producers really liked Firefly and made a dollar store version). The cast of DM was so good and it was a great action space opera. The only thing I was worried about was the introduction of the magical, body possessing alien baddies, which I thought was a terrible idea. RIP.
Apparently Killjoys got a bigger audience - a sad indictment on the collective taste of the world! The casting director deserved a medal for creating Dark Matter’s ensemble.
I just rewatched the entire series. It was definitely a little corny but it was SO FUN and the characters / actors had such good chemistry together. They really just started to flesh out the lore and story of the show before it was canceled. The Expanse somewhat scratched that itch, but it was no where near as fun as Dark Matter. I honestly didn't care about any of the characters either (except for the detective guy), where as with Dark Matter I was invested with and liked all of the main characters.
I quite liked Killjoys - the lead actress had a lot of charisma. But it was lighter in tone and more disposable than Dark Matter - I feel like the wrong show got cancelled.
One of the best if not the best sci-fi show , too bad it came too early before the streaming era otherwise it would defenitly be picked up and saw its completion.
I never understood why they cancelled this, and gave 5 seasons to Killjoys. Anyways, Continuum and The Sarah Connor Chronicles are very good scifi shows that you could present in an upcoming video.
Also you seem like someone who likes scifi shows that are underapreciated i highly reccomend the show the first wave. Kinda like xfiles with some very good stories.

I loved this show. I was soooo angry after discovering this on Netflix, binging through 3 seasons, and then looking up when season 4 was coming only to find out it had already been canceled. 😠
Sucks it got cancelled, but I still recommend it because the way it wraps up still feels like a reasonably complete experience (until the thing happens at the very end).
Its not as deep and layered as something like Babylon 5 or the Expanse. But its got a really fun cast of characters. There’s room in sci-fi for lighter shows like this in the Stargate SG-1 vein.
This show was the definition of "adequate". Nothing amazing, but the initial seasons had some solid ideas and decent storytelling and scratched that Firefly-shaped itch. Thanks so much!
It’s too bad it didn’t get to wrap up some of the stuff it teased for future seasons, but what we got is still really satisfying.
I loved this show, some of the best scfi of its age.
This show being cancelled was a crime.
Dark Matter definitely needs an ending. Best sci-fi show ever!!!
This show was a hidden gem. I never understood why they cancelled it, let alone on a freakin cliffhanger!

That’s a really good elevator pitch for it. It’s not quite as good as either of those shows, but they made the most of what was a much smaller budget.
You should definitely check out Threshold. Peter Dinklage and Brent Spiner in the cast? Definitely a great thing to cover.

Stargate before the FALL (SG-1 & Atlantis) or "Stargate" the FALL (universe)?
The two show runners have writers/exec producer credits on SG1, Atlantis and Universe.
The way the characters talk and interact feels VERY like SG1.
