Same with me, i watched this movie 30 years ago, when i was a 5 year old child and i never forget the end and this theme when the whale swims beneath the ice, it stills with me all this time. Today when i look to hear this score again. I discovered why! The Answer: Ennio Morricone!!
As I heard the news about the maestro's passing THIS was the piece which came to my mind as I thought of him and all his wonderful work he left the world. Grazie mille, Maestro. We will never forget you and how you touched our hearts and souls. R.I.P. Maestro.
It would've been more scientifically accurate if it was an orca son trying avenge is late mother and unborn sibling, as male orcas from lifelong connections with their mothers.
Wow . I first saw this movie as a double feature with Jaws . I was 14 in 1977 great era . The movie is very underrated this movie is in the ranks of jaws and the score is one of the best . We need to be one in this shitty era . Thank you mr morricone. Great score.

Watched this movie for the first time the other day. Amazing locations, the music really makes the movie, though. The scene of the captain being exiled from the fishing town is an amazing piece of cinema, and I think it's because of this music. Thank you, Maestro.
Does anyone here know the name of a movie where a dog sees its owner die under the ice while desperately trying to save him? I've been looking for it for years, its music is just as exciting as it is.
I think I know what you mean as I saw this film as a child. Isn't the actor someone like Charlton Heston or something? He dies at the end? Not sure if that name helps you do a search for it. I think this film is being remade with Harrison Ford - called Call of the Wild?

Ennio "THE GREAT" Morricone... Just SPELLBINDING... What he composed for "ORCA The Killer Whale" is definitely among his BEST, in my humble opinion.

Never forgot the music to this film, it grabs your attention. 1.29 to 3.06 is my favourite piece on this track.
