I liked Mission to Mars, it had great actors with a suspension of disbelief and didn't take itself too seriously. Plus the ending was amazing, it presented an idea that was profound and pretty awesome.
Probably because it was almost inaudible in the movie. Mistake of the director! Morricone's music is usually too beautiful to use it as background 'noise'.
People are profoundly stuck up about science fiction these days. This movie presented a theme and story as 'science-FICTION-y" as any out there, with music from the great Ennio himself to boot. It was and remains one of the best memories I have with my dad, who took me to see this movie when I was just 13. Mission to Mars is a fantastic film about trepidation (hence the music) in the face of stepping out to find new and amazing frontiers. Gary Sinise is the right man to carry the main protagonist's character who has lost his wife and is battling with himself as to how to move on. This movie is a wonderfully expressive and a wholesome take that filled me in my youth with wonder and hope for the future. Forget the naysayers. ❤️
@@maxgallagher2535 when the scenes are flashing of him and his wife and his life in the space program, and the music like a triumphant homecoming it really makes you think
One of my favorite movies growing up. I went and saw it two times in a row, it was so wonderful. Both times, the audience stood up and clapped. I saw a couple people cry, as well. All the actors did a marvelous job.
This is one of the most underrated movies of all time - and the only film that's been left on the HDD of my freeview box for about two years. As for the music, I am someone who appreciates good music - I don't trouble myself with that's cool etc. This is brilliant music - the fact that I've deliberately searched it out says a lot...
My favorite aspect of this film was the friendship between the characters. They felt like real astronauts. Most movies like this would infuse all this drama between the characters...but here the only real drama was the danger of the mission. Wonderful film. The music always stood out to me. I can’t say that about too many modern movies.
From 2:28 and on gives me goosebumps. This was a perfect score for this movie. Romantic, mystic, and epic. This is definitely in my top 10 movie scores.
I grew up in an era in Europe where almost every good movie had a score from E. Moricone to the point where I only went to movies if he had written the score... I even bought recently an obscure Japanese tv show just because of the score...Morricone's music is the music of my life!
Ennio Morricone's soundtrack to Mission to Mars was probably on his top 10 list of best soundtracks. Although the movie did not score well with critics, it presented a possible idea of life on mars and his music just adds to the emotional aspect.
Sunay Chowdhury right, beautiful your comment. I also find this soundtrack wonderful from the minute 6:31 onwards from minute 6:31 it makes me think of Almighty God during the creation of the universe or at the gates of eternity that open wide
Song makes me sad though. Idk why but this song reminds me of my mother who passed away 3 years ago from stage 4 terminal stomach cancer. She was a beautiful woman woth a beautiful soul. This song reminds me of her life
A wonderful soundtrack. Especially the end where the music so wonderfully meshes with the culmination of Sinese's character's experiences. Very moving...
This is one of those scifi movies that I always enjoy watching from time to time, when given the chance. The soundtrack is just another jewel in its crown.
One of the most deeply satisfying movies ever about what it means to love and befriend others. Wonderful cast with incredible chemistry. "Thank you for coming to get me" "It was my honor."
Have a great ride Ennio. Maybe you'll meet my Heather (1986-2013 ) on your travels. We both loved this film and your score. Something hopeful in a world where hope is hard to come by.
I really felt like this soundtrack made up for a movie that was otherwise fairly average. Without it, I don't think I would have liked it nearly as much as I did. That really says something about the skill of Morricone.
really? tbh i think of this movie as a total hidden jem. I'm not a lover of space exploration type films. i've liked a couple due to my old man being very interested in the subject of space etc. But this film for me is a great. Really enjoyed every minute. Opinions i suppose
I had always loved this part of the movie, especially for its music then i searched for "end of mission to mars soundtrack" and i realized it was made by Ennio Morricone, how surprising, and not a the same time, god.
+Tony Romo Was? He still alive and kicking. Score music for Tarantino's Hateful Eight flick and won a Golden Globe few weeks ago.. The Mission To Mars is one of his best.. It always takes me to Mars and beyond..
Elmer bernstein( the magnificent 7), Learnod bernststein ( west side story) John barry (born free) and Ennio(where do you start ?) genius, wow we will not hear music like this again
Personally I really enjoyed Mission to Mars. Ennio Morricone's score adds a lot. I think the music he wrote for this movie and 1997's Lolita are two of the most beautiful and poignant film scores ever written.

Wow....Like many of you im awestruck by this sound track. The part at 2:50 to 4:00 loops in my head when I think about the cosmos and such. I wish I got to play music like this in orchestra. I love Bach and Dvorak and all, but this, this would really move people
For my money, Morricone was told "Make a space opera soundtrack" by DePalma and he listened to Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek The Motion Picture score and said "yes, that's it!", handed it back to DePalma who thought he would get 2001 and was pleasantly surprised. Also, the 6:28 mark is where Morricone earned his stripes on the picture, if he didn't already do so.
i don't care what people think, I liked this movie, has a wonderful soundtrack
Indeed
true!
I agree on both counts. One of my favorite pieces of music, bar none.

No doubt about it!! Very emotional to me at the end. What a well produced movie and musical score!😍
The loss of Ennio Morricone was a loss to the world. He is and always will be missed.
Have a great ride,Jim....
the part around 7:20 is when i start to get a little choked up when you see Jim's life "flash" before his eyes.
Me too, man. Right in the feels.
Pure joy, tears and goosebumps. Forever.
I don't understand why people dislike this film and its soundtrack, it's amazing.
because most people (>90%) have no soul
Me too, it is one of three sci-fy movie I have seen 💖!

@ I love this music and the movie is one of the best sci-fy movies ever and I have been seen a whole lot of them in my 76 years 💖!

We all are travellers from space. This is the message this music seems to me.
Rip Ennio Morricone, kudos to you! Next, the Mission to Afterlife!

The Maestro Mr. Ennio Morricone!!
This song perfectly captures the monumental implications of the events that unfold in the film
Buon viaggio Maestro, ora starà viaggiando lontano nelle galassie.....
