Popular all over the world (it was my grandmother's favorite song), it reached its peak of popularity in 1941 when Jimmy Dorsey and his Orchestra's recording reached #1 and remained at that spot for 14 weeks. Maestro Morricone took this old standard and made it his own in the most beautiful version of all time. My adored grandmother, long dead when this came out, would have adored it.

I fell in love with Ennio when I was confused teen in India. Today I'm forty and I've been listening to his music since then. Actually I got introduced to Ennio for the first time through Richard Clayderman's piano cover album - The Fantastic Movie Story of Ennio Morricone. For me Cinema Paradiso is the most favourite. Both the movie and the music have changed my life. I silently bow my head to the master. His music brings peace to me. Makes me forget everything else. ❤
I saw this movie before the suits in Hollywood swapped it around (not 6 hr version that was Sergio’s original muse) even they could not mess up the total package of Ennio , Sergio , Jennifer, Deniro , and Elizabeth McGovern… this song will live and love in perpetuity ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
