Needs more torpedo launchers. Other than that perfect ship. This and the Defiant were my favorite.

With the holo-emitters throughout the ship, every room is a holodeck! Your own cabin could be a mansion as far as you are concerned.

4:23 So … polarized hull plating?
As for the speed, I seem to recall that the structural integrity was a key component in keeping the ship's warp at a limit. So I was thinking that the extra tidbits to add to structural integrity would help to get the Prometheus to Warp 9.99 without tearing it apart.

What a beautifully designed ship! And so functional. It does separating FAAAR more believably then the Galaxy class!!!

Great episode! I love the insight from Sternbach! Best looking, meanest ship in the fleet. I'd love to see a battle between the Prometheus and the -E!

on your episode of Trek Yards about the Maquise Raider I put refit nacelles from the A on my model and did away with the phasers and put pulse cannons on it instead.

I love these guys. If you want to know about any ship. Type up trekyards and what ever ship. I usally listening to these guys on any ship. Not just trek ships either.

I'd love to use some of your Prometheus CGI in our fan film. I do have the mesh build BTW.

I agree with what Rick was saying about the torpedoes here. It's silly that you'd need a redesigned launcher for a different sort of torpedo. If that was actually the case, the engineers responsible should find new employment.
As for why the Enterprise-E only seemed to fire quantum's from the main forwards tube, couldn't it be simply said that that was where they kept most or all of the quantums?.
Photons should be far cheaper to build. You stick the auxiliary launchers with those, and concentrate your new awesome torps into the primary launcher.

Prometheus can probably phase shift the 4 main nacelles when combined to enhance endurance. but for separated mode only standard endurance.

A triple hulled ship with serious compartmentalization with incredibly redundant systems. The command saucer breaks the "Nacelles need to see each other" rule. I would come up with a different set up. I would definitely want to recombine to give chase. I figure this ship would be a part of a fleet action. The Intrepid classes could track a fleeing enemy while I combined and pursued. I would definitely want an antimatter and deuterium tanker following these guys around.

Regarding 18:20. Voyager could sustain high warp for at least 2 days straight, no problem.

Regarding how many different warheads could be fired by a single torpedo tube, recall the original TNG technical manual stated the Enterprise tubes could each launch up to 9 torpedoes at the same time. So there's plenty of room in at least the Galaxy class tubes. Now as to whether older classes could accommodate quantum torpedoes, the replicators might not support the newer designs. Plus, if the design changes, can the antimatter (or whatever arms the torpedo) be loaded into the torpedo?

I was wondering if any thought was given to having the ability for the Alpha and Gamma sections to combine if say the Beta section was lost. The "upper connecting surface" of both the Beta and Gamma do appear to be similar.

Gary Tucker I'm going to assume it's like a Lego brick - they're all compatible. Hell, if there was a squadron of these, they could probably mix parts so the less damaged parts can fight together and the more damaged sections can fall back or get repairs.

Here is a great explanation for warp scale. The last TNG episode where Captain Crusher orders warp 13 could be correct. Think about it for a second. It's not the warp factor that has changed, instead its just a different way of saying it. For example, lets say that warp 9.9998 was the same speed Crusher ordered. Which is easier to say, engage at warp 9.9998 or engage at warp 13? The threshold for warp 10 still exists, but in this case instead of saying warp 9.999999999999999999999 for the warp 10 threshold, one simply says say, warp 20. It's simply a new unit of measure. I think that's a great explanation.

Just a quick question but why in star trek dose turning the engine off all ways course the ship to stop as in space flight you only need the engine to accelerate and stop on a side not why doesn’t the galaxy surser section have warp engines as 1. without warp it whud take 1000s of years to get anywhere 2. Shuttles have warp engines.

    • @HitodamaKyrie

The ships slow down only when they're at warp and the warp bubble suddenly collapses. They don't actually slow down in that case but obviously they can't FTL anymore.
If there's any example of them stopping at sub-light speeds because of an engine failure, that's called the writers did it wrong.
Galaxy saucer can't warp because it has no warp core. Presumably a shuttle sized warp core couldn't generate the power needed to make a warp bubble big enough for the saucer section

That image of a submarine interior used in this video looks like it was taken inside a WWII-era submarine museum and not a boomer.

  • @markplott4820

I still think the Alpha or command ship is underpowered. it needs to have full size warp nacelles at the edge of the hull and the saucer section should be tapered to match and the mini nacelles completely removed.

Great looking ship but Multi Vector Assault Mode is a gimmick. So much internal volume would be dedicated to trebling key systems, locking mechanisms and connections would greatly reduce useable volume, plus the ship would be extremely complex to construct. The ship would be far more useful in traditional format. The Ent-D separation was conceptually very different.

there is no way you are putting labs in a ships designed to break into 3 parts and go into battle. most of it is going to be devoted to connecting the 3 sections and duplicate warp cores , computer cores and weapons. This is why the ship ends up being weak when broken in to 3 sections. Each section will be a max 1/3 as powerful as the whole. Being able to jettison the saucer as a life boat works but expecting to separate into multiple ships and be stronger is simply dumb.

Hence the term Multi Vector Assault mode meaning this ships sections have been classed as Primary, Secondary and Tertiary hulls in order for them both to be warp capeable the warp cores had to be dupelacated 3 times and even if one of the sections is destroyed one of 2 of the sections can still function while the crew is on one of the sections while one of them is automated and controlled by the computer until returning to the nearest starbase or earth spacedock.

Britain exited the European Union, is like a rejection of Star Trek's globalisation. Now they have to deal with Islamification. Good luck Britain!

Docking is one of the worse things about the Prometheus. Many points are actually quite impossible to extend the clamps into. Just a very poorly designed ship.
Also: Warp cores can't be combined. The reaction chamber can't be modular. It's a containment vessel and supercolider. Is the changer moving from the bottom of the section to the middle during separation? No that terribly complicated. Prometheus if designed properly is the first multi warp core ship.
-15:50 This confirms my analysis and math on warp core and fuel. I speculated that Voyager's Tri Core, Defiant's Quintuple Core and Sovereigns Octa Core pulse per sec is far faster consuming more fuel than the Galaxy could.
Unfortunately all these ships after Galaxy have extremely small fuel reserves and it's unlikely they can go years in space is they are high consumption.
