Well that's a surprise! Seeing a brand that I could afford, being a Brazilian, and one that I've always wanted to buy some pedals, specially their muff and their vibe! And with you reviewing it makes it even more appealing to me! Great work as always!
is there a flanger that can do the sound holding down the right foot switch? at 6:07 Looking for a Korn Rotary flanger kind of vibe.with really fast speed
@@LetsPlayAll thanks! IS it possible to obtain that sound without holding down that pedal? Just with the knobs ? would be a buying reason for me or just by holding down?
@@UMCmetal ah sorry i misunderstood, if you set the rate up full then you get the same effect as pressing the right footswitch. Holding down the right footswitch just allows you to go between a lower rate (set by the rate knob) and the quickest rate the pedal offers for changing it mid performance as per the example here. Hope that helps! Just checked out your channel btw - really nice work mate :-)
Hi, Great channel! I've watched a number of your videos and find them really useful. I just comparison-watched your review of the Walrus Polychrome side-by-side with the Krozz Airborne. I don't know whether your other pedals or signal chain might be affecting the tone, but the Polychrome sounded a lot more harsh and strident, whereas the Airborne sounded sweeter, more 'euphonic'. What is your impression?
Those are among my two fave flangers tbh, PastFX also do some very cool reproductions. The Airborn is incredibly warm and has some awesome features, but the Polychrome has amazing graphics and a bunch of other tweakable settings. I like the inverse setting on the Krozz, but I haven't done a side by side comparison tbh! I'd probably say the Airborn just edges it for me and my use cases.
Good question! For me this is on par with the Polychrome tone wise so both are very high quality pedals. I don't believe the polychrome has the negative feedback option you get here, but it has selectable voices and a momentary latching switch, whereas with this one you get the "McCready button!" to hit the full flanger speed momentarily. Both are great :-)
You can get ANY modulation from a 4 knob flanger, thats why flangers are superiors, but so complicated to understand. However, once you know how to use it, you dont need another mod pedal.
Signal chain was either light OD or high gain pedal into flanger into front of amp. Amp set just on the edge of breakup. So barracuda was just the amp and flanger, but the Iron Maiden riff was a dirt pedal - flanger - amp. The volume on the flanger can act as a boost too so if you set that higher it would cause the tube amp to break up more 🙂
To really get the spirit of the radio sound you need to use a wah pedal with the flanger. He uses an electric mistress on that like he does on most of Rush songs.

Yeah this isn’t a definitive list, lots of other bands use flanger (think I used Floyd in another flanger demo) but I try not to repeat riffs in my demos 😀🤘
@@LetsPlayAll second hand stuff... Also some handmades around Europe can make dope stuff without breaking the bank, in Greece we have the TSL Studio Equipment for something more "studio grade" stuff, ICA in Spain, Holy Island Audio in Wales or some guys in Italy for ex. Now, I need to see the price on the international section, but when I just converted the prices from Real to Euros was still a bit out of my range by now, but definitely dope sounds and artwork! Weeks ago I got the Strymon Deco in Italy for 170€ second hand, not analog at the core but soundwise has a good an interesting flanger sound also. Brand new stuff are getting too much expensive everywhere as I can see now, so I'll stay hunting more for second hand stuff, now, I kinda regreted that I sold my Yamaha DM100 (similar to the Boss MZ2 but all analog). Anyway, awesome pedal and video mate.
Excellent song choices to play with Airborn! I am especially happy to see Odyssey and Breakout there! Really cool demo, Matthew! Thank you so much!
You're welcome Murillo! It's a cracking pedal - had lots of fun making this demo 🤘😀

"Follow your, follow me" by Genesis has one of the best flanger sounds of the 70's. It's not subtle, but still highly enjoyable.
@@gabrielloyola4429 nice will check that out 🤘
The flanger is such a fun effect. The possibilities are endless.
Yessss, finally Wino and AIC 😎 Patience rewarded 😁 Kudos for The Cure 👍
Finally a Cure setting ❤
Awesome pedal, sounds amazing
The cure, a forest 👏👏

Flanger means the CURE !!! :)
Cool video, I love flangers and this one sounds great!
Cheers mate!

Yes - this one :-) Seriously you'd be hard pushed to find a better flanger imo especially if you're interested in that specific feature

I have this pedal and LOVE it! Why is there a low level of static over this playing?
Nice! Not too sure tbh, my room is rather noisy with all the lights etc
Good Help made me recall another flanger intro: Crawling in the Dark by Hoobastank!
Nice hadn’t heard of that one!
Sounds great. Just curious, are you running it before or after overdrive?
thanks Peter! signal chain is Gtr - dirt pedals - flanger - amp. Amp set just to on the very edge of breakup

My next pedal!
Airborn is waiting for you!
Nice!!! Thank You. 🎸🎸
Alot of country players used them back in the 70 and 80's also.
We’re you doing flanger into a (lightly) dirty amp (or pedal). Just curious about your placement.
Signal chain was either light OD or high gain pedal into flanger into front of amp. Amp set just on the edge of breakup. great tone on The number of the beast at the end, but I can here some strange harsh ,what is that?
Err not sure, it's not the flanger, that's rad sounding, maybe the distortion?
To really get the spirit of the radio sound you need to use a wah pedal with the flanger. He uses an electric mistress on that like he does on most of Rush songs.

Some more flanger tunes:
Killing in the name intro
Come undone intro
Rooster
Pretty sure Killing is a phaser, but Come Undone is a great shout! Will make a note for next time :-)

u should add Trivium - Throes of Perdition

For a decent analog flanger? I'd say it's at a similar price point to other BBD chip flangers tbh
