Thank you for this helpful video. It helped me a lot. I recently bought a portable sewing machine singer. Im having tension headache because of vibration of the machine. Like it triggers my vertigo. I’m newbie in sewing 🤭 I’ve been looking for solutions and I found your channel. Thank you again.
I love your videos, specially your advice, and now I see why your comments are so good and useful and full of excellent logic- You are a Science person and apply your knowledge to what you do, and that is AWESOME!!!!! I tried to follow your advice by getting those Brother machines you mentioned, the -800 and the -770, but to no avail, and the Babylock equivalents are non-existent Then tried to get the Brother SE 1900, and could not find it anywhere either!!! So I searched for other brands, and found some used Berninas at very good price, and got 4 and I am so happy with them!!!! They are working flawlessly, and 3 of them accept the same accessories. Regarding noise, I am lucky because my home has concrete floors, and I made some time ago a 4' wide x 16 long ' x 1 " thick top wood table that I covered with half inch of those rubber squares you mention, and the feet also have 3/4 inch rubber underneath. There I have the embroidery machines, one Juki F300, a Singer C430, a Brother CV 2340, a Janome 7933, and a PFAFF 1011L. I have all those machines because I have friends that provided some of them, and whose children are interested in sewing and embellishing their own clothes, so they use my machines and theirs. You see, I am retired and I am staying at home all the time and needed a hobby, and my neighbours learned about that, and they provided their own machines, and send their kids to me so they can learn something, and their mothers also come and do stuff like drapes, clothes, cushions and embroidery!!!! Regarding noise, I cover the embroidery machines with cardboard boxes that are covered/lined inside with egg crates, and that lessens the noise quite a bit. We cover just them, and only while they are embroidering. Making those boxes was a lot of fun with those kids!!! But they work so happy and with a lot of interest, and away from danger. There is always an adult or two with them. And we watch videos about sewing, embroidery, quilting, and related stuff, and yours are some of our favourite authors!!! Thanks a lot for your nice videos and advice!!!!
Thanks for that sweet comment! I love that you have a neighborhood sewing studio. 😁 Every neighborhood needs one of those. And that's a great idea about the egg cartons for noise.
You are so right. Hobby becomes real work when you add all the technical and financial upkeep. So many hats to wear but it's great to have your own business. Thanks for all the very useful information.
This is the first time I have been on your sight and I will say I love it. I am in the process of organizing my sewing rooms. Do you have a helpful video on that. I need one badly.
Hi Diane! I still haven't made any videos on organization. I can offer you one of my pinterest boards that has a lot of sewing and machine embroidery organization photos: www.pinterest.com/LuciAyyat/organize-it/
Wonderful videos on embroidery machines, from buying to taking care of them to protect them. I own a 10 needle Babylock, I almost got sick when I looked at the cost of the Koala table, but it was the best buy for the machine. It is heavy, steady and level. I also put a sheet of plywood under the cabinet to protect it from the carpet that it sits on, it helps and does not cause any static, which could happen. I also have a Bernina sewing machine with an embroidery unit, the shelf liner helped a lot, it does not move and is steady all the time while staying level. I just figure I love the embroidery process, and I might have to spend some money, but that is what I worked my whole life for. Please keep up the tips, they are fantastic, and your work is wonderful.
Good stuff. I've had to solve some of the same problems with my 3d printers. They too suffer from vibration noise, but if they hit a resonance it can cause visible ripples in the printed piece.
ok nothing wrong with plugging your Excellent Work! ..BTW I am learning lots of useful information from your videos, and I like your timely response..new subcriber...Sheila/Myron
If you haven't taken it in for service in a while, you probably should. The "squeak" could be coming from the parts that move the embroidery arm and the technician will need to fix that, it's not something you can lubricate on your own. If it's not coming from the machine when you're sewing OR from inside the embroidery unit, it's possible the squeak is coming from plastic of the unit rubbing on plastic of the machine and you can pinpoint that and lubricate or pad that friction point. But usually embroidery units fit very snug on the machine so that is less likely the cause.

Helpful video on quieting the machine, we just bought a Brother Persona and your tips made a huge difference, thank you!
Glad I could help!

Thank you for that sweet comment. Those Koala cabinets ARE expensive but people rave about them so they're doing something right.
Thanks again for sharing.I know the feeling;there never seem to be enough time to do the things you have to do when you find them.
Did you just quote a song from Bread? Because I've looked around enough to know... ;-)

Ooh, that is interesting. I suspect a wooden table or surface would boost the resonance problem for you 3d printer same as an embroidery machine. 🤔
You a a wealth of knowledge. Keep up the good work!
I use an old yoga mat, instead of buying anything. Works a treat under my Brother V3.
Thanks for the tip about the yoga mat! It's the same material as the anti-fatigue or craft foam and would work great!

Wow! how do you make those dolls? Loving them!
The dolls are stitched in the hoop of the embroidery machine. Blatant plug here : those are my designs I sell at www.BallyhooCreations.com. 😁
I agree with " if you make your Hobby a Business, its time to get another Hobby,,lol
My Brother single needle machine squeaks to high heaven from the plug in embroidery unit! Any advice??
