I bought a 2007 Columbia at a auction that came with a push start button
I guess whoever owned wanted to quick fix it before selling it .
Once I turn the key over I push the button to start it but now it’s more and more frequently giving me a delayed start and sometimes clicking a couple times before it cranks so I’ll have to fix it
I had this issue, I temporarily rigged up a switch like this . I ended up changing out the rear computer harness for the engine due to my dash board was shorting out . This also fixed the key start issue that I had not had a chance to track down and fix . Just so you know if you never have , I have replaced this harness a few times over the years since 2008 .
@@Starkeyfamilyfixing thank you for the feedback . The dash shorting out has happened a couple times for me As well
I had a solinoid but when I tried to change it I couldn’t remember what wire goes where so I couldn’t put the new one on. So we by passed it but what side effects will it cause?
Well under the right circumstances a total meltdown. On an overload the solenoid will burn out first . Always take a picture on your cell phone so if you have an issue then you can look at how is was .
Nice video !
I put my ignition in the on position and touched the solenoid with pliers I get nothing. Should the ignition be in the off position? Thanks in advance
What if you did that with the srew driver or the plyers and it didn't start ...would that mean the starter is bad ?
👍👍
Thanks for watching !!!
How do you know where negative and positive hook on too the new solenoid ??
Should be marked
What happens if you use the screw driver and it doesn't start does that still mean it's the solenoid
All you’re doing is crossing the posts on the solenoid to bypass the key switch. If the truck turns over and does not start then where you start the truck at key switch or solenoid will not matter , you have other issues.
Good video
Thanks for watching !!!!
Thanks
Your very welcome!!! And thanks for watching!!
What happens if you don’t have a solinoid?
Your going to have one , could be in a different location
What do you do if you have two starter solenoids
It really depends on how they are set up , every manufacturer though the years has had different setups most are like in this video . You can actually bypass this too , I have taken jumper cables straight to the starter from another vehicle before, yes you can do this too ! But on a set with 2 well if one is bad , then that’s the one you bypass, so you try the one that’s easiest to get to first , normally on the wall , then the next one is normally on the starter , but there can also be a third one under the truck normally around the transmission bolted on the floor area . This I have seen , but sometimes these are junction boxes and not a 3rd solenoid .
$1260 omg 😱!!!! , that place tried their best to plainly rip you off !!!!
When I’m putting my two positive together my starter is engaging I’ve watched your video like 50 times and can’t figure out what’s going on? My original one was more of a square so I’ve been kind thrown off with the circle one. Am I hooking the wire up wrong?
Is the negative wire the one that comes from the front on the motor?
If the starter is engaging and turning over the engine, do you have the key turned on ? Must be turned on .
Negative is most likely just hooked to the frame or on the engine , but in some cases do go to the battery box to the battery .
If it’s on , and you are cranking the engine from the solenoid and it’s not starting then you have another problem. There can be a couple other junction boxes around the firewall if your truck is equipped so that can kill the power . I would call the dealer with your vin number, have them look up your truck to see if yours is equipped or not . But if this is not the issue then prepare yourself because it could be as bad as your computer is dead . Let me know on your progress !!!!
Where is it located on a freighter cascadia?
Well unfortunately all the truck are not the same . It depends on how it was ordered new .
How do you know what wires goes to where ???
I’ll if your not sure just look up the diagram on your vehicle. But most generally vehicles follow the same patterns on these .
How about a kenworth T660 year 2011
This function works on about every vehicle
Thanks for watching !!!
Ay the Kenworth did you know where is the solenoid
Do you have part number for this solenoid
Here my associate link will take you straight to Amazon so you can get one. amzn.to/3L7lHcd and amzn.to/3LQwKYe. Both hanger styles for you to pick from .
