If any of you all are second guessing this place….. y’all missing OUT!!!!! This place is AMAZING!!! The Shrimp Burger is full of Real shrimp in every bite!!! The oxtail burger is AMAZING!!!!! I drove three hours to eat here and it was worth EVERY minute of my drive!!!! I wish they had one in every city!!!!!
I love how he explained his methods on the allergies. Cooking on a separate burner. Most dont cook on a separate burner.
Definitely scored points with that for consumers. I'm allergic to sea fish meaning I can't salmon, COD,, but I can eat shrimp crab and lobster so going somewhere where the restaurant cares about allergens is important 💯🎯

To be fair, I'd give him a pass if he touched the raw food and just slightly touched the buns, but he full on aggressively palmed the buns down on the flat top with both soiled gloves. On top of that, he continues to use the same contaminated gloves for the rest of the video. Hahahahaha.
I walk past this spot every day and I've known the owner, Kai Campbell, for damn near 20 years, and I can't explain to you the lengths he goes to give Newark the food he gives. The food is BEYOND amazing. If you can go, GO. Yes, it's Newark but it's DOWNTOWN. Quite a bit of white folk now😊. Directly in back of JL across the street is a Whole Foods. Again, some of the best food you will ever have. The owner, Kai, needed this affirmation. Again, he cuts NO CORNERS with his food.

As a Swiss who lives 45 min away from the town of Gruyère, I instantly felt respect for this man as soon as I heard him say he put Gruyère cheese on the burger, even more when I heard the pronunciation that was on point!
Why would you be surprised he knows how to pronounce a cheese that’s found in damn near every grocery store in the US? It’s not exactly a fancy cheese 😂 Or did you not know it’s popular in the states?

I must have watched this at least 6 times !! The way that he bit into and didn't say anything he just had to let it marinate for a minute. Then he looked as if he got mad. It was just that good! I know that feeling!

First time walking around downtown Newark and visiting the Nj Pac center for the first time, "Nice", and before the show, I walked to the military park where the yard is located and tried their sprimp burger out too! It came with a fresh salad 👏 very delicious and I love the customer service. I highly recommend visiting.
When JL gives that pause before taking a second bite.. you know it's legit!!! Much blessings to them!

Just ate here yesterday (1-13-23). Oxtail burger us a GAME CHANGER. Shrimp burger was just alright. The owner and staff are ON POINT. Great customer service and food was delicious.
I’m kosher so I whole heartedly appreciate the fact that you cook on a separate stove top instead of a separate section on the same stove. If ever get the chance to come to New Jersey I will definitely come to his spot.

Naw dont do it...oxtails are waaay to expensive nowadays..mix it up
An all oxtail burger won't set up right. The texture will be off. Mix it with other cuts of beef for optimal results.

I went and tried this spot off the strength of your video and I am glad I did!!! The ox tail burger did not disappoint and it wasn't over powering either. Delicious, savory and worth every penny!!! And yes I do plan to have it delivered to my job because it's worth it. The owner was wonderful as well
First, I'm so glad you're doing places in Jersey City and Newark. Jersey has some amazing food, but tends to be cast in the shadow of NYC. Also, your videos have a very "casual" style to them, while still having top notch production value. Good work!
I’m from nyc originally but been in NJ for 5 or so years and that’s straight facts. People take NJ for granted with food especially some of the natives they think NYC is everything I just went to Katz again today not since I was little. With the nyc tax 15 dollars for two little knishes that weren’t even that good tbh. This is something that’s probably 5 bucks in the store for a pack of frozen ones or a dollar or two at a hot dog stand. I feel like many places in nyc especially famous places fell off.
I gotta get back to my hometown and try this place. Allergic to shrimp and I love how careful they are. Any place celebrating black joy as a business model is doing it right

My bro and I were at hotel next to the park. I recommended this after seeing your review a few months before our visit. Thanks for this man. HANDS DOWN..... that shrimp burger is really 1 of the best dishes "I've ever tasted in my life." The texture is amazing, its seasoned to perfection, and the trimmings accent the taste perfectly. They were sold out of the Oxtail already, but my next visit I will be going back for another and the Oxtail burger.

This is good to know this place exists. I thought Newark was nothing but excessive crime and bad traffic. This might give me a reason to actually drive down there to try this.

That used to be called Military Park. The old recruiting station is now the restaurant. The food looks delicious eventhough dude touched the meat, then the brioche bun. Hmmm.

The only thing that's trash about some of the downtown food places in Newark is they either close too early or never open on the weekends
Happy to see you in parts of my neighborhood its dope to see. That park has so much joy and love and activities happening consistently and the yard is a great place to have in the community. Also enjoyed the extra bonus of them re-opening bragmans. Bragmans was a OG sandwich spot thats been there for ages. My mother used to eat from there over 50 years ago and took me throughout my life. Unfortunately the lockdown messed things up for them but good to see they're coming back. Strongly suggest you visit again when they open, I'm sure it'll be worth the trip. Love your content, keep killing it bro
