After almost 50 years this song NEVER gets old.
As a drummer, my band played this in clubs for years. It only took the crowd a few hits on the cowbell to figure out what song it was...and they went CRAZY! Great song.
This really is one of the best songs ever
Love this. Wisht I got a chance to be at one of your shows, Rock on!
Bro this drum kick drive is crazy good. Like a 3 kick heartbeat
Leslie West was a funny guy as well. He played a funny character in the movie The Money Pit.
I remember that movie. What role did he play?
@@TexasRepo73 the leader of the rock band. They wanted to call themselves Meryl Streep.
All those dudes was gettin their kicks, well I beg your pardon I was gettin mine!!!! Love those lyrics
Leslie West is the lead singer and guitarist Mountain rocks. All their songs are awesome.
This song forces me to crank it up as loud as possible EVERY time.
Exactly what you're supposed to do.
E se os vizinhos chamarem a polícia, eles é que vão presos 🤣🤣🤣🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Such a raw rock n roll song
This song is fucking HEAVY and it rocks so hard! Love it!
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
This song still echos in the hills outside of Hopewell NJ. Many a night riding the back roads, couple 6packs of Bud. Just riding, laughing, telling stories. 1972-1973.
Carl
Saw Mountain a half dozen times in the early 70's. In 72 saw Black Sabbath open for Mountain.
I was young and naïve back in the early seventies. This was a hard a$$ song made you feel like a tough chick. Lol. Truth
My first big time concert was Mountain WAAAAAAyyyy back in 1971. I was 15 years old....drunk and stoned only about 50 feet away from the band.
Okay, now that you got this song out of the way, the song you REALLY need to hear from Mountain is "Never In My Life"! That song is an absolute banger that just does not get the respect it deserves.
I think I actually prefer that one over "Mississippi Queen". Maybe it's because I've heard "Mississippi Queen" so many times. Another one I like is "Silver Paper"
My dance troupe did a routine to this song so I kinda got sick of it for a while after hearing it 20 times a day for a few months...but I still love it...and still remember every step of that routine too!
Leslie west 1 of the best of all time!! The feel and sustain in his playing is 2nd to none! Underrated great guitarist....
Pretty good? Are you serious? That was 🔥🔥🔥🔥FIRE. ONE of the greatest songs ever.
Wow way back in 1970! I remember listening to this in my friend's backyard playing basketball on his older brother's homemade basket. The only shoes we used were Converse Chuck Taylor Allstars for about $5.00 or less a pair.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah! This was a bump & grind dancefloor song back in my day (I'm 60 now).
This song was even better in Concert!!
Saw Mountain and Black Sabbath in Houston, Texas back in 1970 or 1971. It was Black Sabbath first US tour as they opened for Mountain. Great show!
I saw both of those tours in San Fransisco in 71 so yea, Mountain, Black Sabbath and Jeff Beck group.
I read somewhere that Ozzy Osbourne claimed that Leslie West introduced the mighty Black Sabbath to Colombians greatest export!
I love this! Thank you guys for brining back those forgotten songs!
Now you are really into my young days as a teenager. Bought this on 8-Track when it came out. Listening to this and cruising on Saturday nights!!!
Love this song
My first concert was Deep Purple and Mountain, I was 13
POWER TRIO. RAW & INTENSE!
If you looked up 70s power rock & roll in that fictional music encyclopedia you'd find a picture of this big, ugly dude named Leslie West makin' in his guitar scream while belting out these lyrics. He was a force of nature with a guitar in hand and microphone in front of him.
And dressed like it was Arctic weather when it was mid-August in the tropics -- strange.
He was an absolute force of nature, I was point blank to that dude several times, the riffs he used to come up with were mind boggling, he would just use the space between songs at times to just send notes into the cosmos, explore the grove for a minute or 2 and then break into Blood of the Sun! The best I ever heard him play was at an old high school football stadium in Holyoke MA in 1973, he had Leslie West's Wild West Show in tow, Mick Jones of Foreigner fame was on 2nd lead and did they ever get into it, Leslie ripped into Love is Worth the Blues, his solo was bouncing off the apartment blocks nearby, he had it cranked!
He was an utter powerhouse.
Awesome, Leslie West and Mountain were dope, for another great banger of theirs, try Nantucket Sleighride, it is classic in studio but live, it takes on a life of its own and can run 10 - 30+ minutes. Great stuff, saw the Leslie, with and without Mouth gain 19 times, he was always around, often on multi-band bills, you did not want to be the headliner if Leslie was playing before you ( unless you are Black Sabbath and Tony Iommi, it never mattered who opened for them, they always deserved to be the headliner, no matter if Leslie, Van Halen, BOC, orJudas Priest, amongst many others I saw, did not matter at all). Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
I’ll try and shorten this but a buddy of mine who’s a big time drummer was managed by Mountains manager years later. He told me his friend was a young British college guy at the time working for a music company & was ask to pick up somebody named Leslie West he was a little surprised to meet a large man and not a cut little lady to and take the band to Woodstock NY for some concert they were playing in Love the fact he had no idea who the band was and what was going on at Woodstock
I saw these guys in 1970 at the Randall`s Island Concert, they tore the place up.
When the song ends and the listeners go 'awww'....
A perfect tribute to a legendary song
The reason i own a Sunburst Gibson Les Paul Jr, is Leslie West, ill never let it go either.
This is a top10 song of all time great music and voice fantastic
I never heard Mountain before - what a tune.... guitar sounds fantastically heavy!
This is the BEST one to start with!
Man we used to jam out to this song!
Saw them in 1976 in Oakland, great show
I loved that awwww at the end...perfect reaction y'all!❤❤❤
Every heavy band hasta do a ballad...I think it's in the rule book. Mountain's was "Theme fo an Imaginary Western" and is my earworms for this band.
Interesting side note: bassist Felix Papalardi produced a band called Cream, featuring the guitarist Eric Clapton.
My Favorite Mountain song, i recorded a Cover of it in 2011
This song from Twin Peaks, live in Japan will blow down your walls...
Saw them in a small club back in 1982, the loudest thing I ever heard.
A great song from my high school years
Perfect song to Air Drum to.
I apologize for ending that sentence with a preposition. 😮💨
P. S... Leslie West on guitar and vocals / Felix Papalardi on vocals and bass
Awesome song!! Thanks
Leslie West was a big feller. They kicked butt when they came here in '72.
The only thing wrong with this song is its too short!
This is what’s known as “kick ass rock”
Angus Young calls Leslie West the greatest guitar player to ever live
The only thing wrong with this song is that it's TOO SHORT! 😁
The legendary Leslie West on guitar and lead vocals here. RIP....
Great Song!
Classic song from back in the day. Those P90's were crankin' way hard!!!
This is one of my favorites. W.A.S.P. did a cover for this also
Leslie West...Legend!!!!
I saw a video a while ago when y'all watched big iron, and I wanted to request you guys watch the animated version by Roger willbanks
Great guitar player, lLeslie West. If you like that one hen you must react to Nantucket Sleigh Ride which will transport you away to wherever you want to go!
Took you a while to get to this one.
Check out Zak Wyyld's acoustic version of this....KILLER
And to think I planned to get some sleep tonight it’s like 3 am almost here in Wisconsin but I’m enjoying this time because I’m enjoying your reactions and your comments too I got to experience those moments first hand and my daughter turns 15 next month and she’s a fan of the music I lived through
I saw Tommy Bolin Teaser album cover. Hope y'all gave him a listen.
First time I heard this I was a kid and my older brother played this on his first turntable over and over! I loved it then, I love it now. Bands don't play instruments anymore. Such a shame.
You guys are the coolest man.
I saw a video of them performing this on a tv talk show from back then, early 70'$. It was awesome!! You shouldook it up. Oh there's also a clip of them on the Dennis Miller show from the 90'$. Not as good as the one from the 70'$ but, still okay...
First album that I bought with my own money...
These guys were but a flash in the pan but so hugely influential to the metal scene.
Great song❤
This is the second song W.A.S.P. covered back in the day.
Their covers are remarkably good, in that they stay very true to the original, sounding very much like the original but still making the song their own.
The end doesn't just stop cold like the original does ; it breaks out into solos and a piked-up pace, launched by Blackie's yell, "Wooooahhhhhh, look out! Helter Skelter!"
I reckon it's been a beat or two since you delved into W.A.S.P., so if you're wanting something for your Metal Meltdown or just a stand-alone reaction, here are all of W.A.S.P.'s covers to date :
01. PAINT IT BLACK (The Rolling Stones) [1984]
02. MISSISSIPPI QUEEN (Mountain) [1985]
03. I DON'T NEED NO DOCTOR (Humble Pie) [1986]
04. EASY LIVING (Uriah Heep) [1986]
05. LOCOMOTIVE BREATH (Jethro Tull) [1989]
06. THE REAL ME (The Who) [1989]
07. WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS (Led Zeppelin) [1992]
08. SOMEBODY TO LOVE (Jefferson Airplane) [1995]
09. TIE YOUR MOTHER DOWN (Queen) [1995]
10. WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE (AC/DC) [1995]
11. IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP (AC/DC) [1995]
12. SATURDAY NIGHT IS ALRIGHT (Elton John) [1999]
13. BURN (Deep Purple) [2007]
14. PROMISED LAND (Chuck Berry) [2007]
This song goes with my avatar actually. I worked prior to 9/11 on the Mississippi Queen riverboat a paddle wheel vessel great memories
She taught me ev'ething !!! Best part
a complete classic! but then what was the Tommy Bolin Teaser spot prior?
R.I.P. to the great Leslie West.
Great song, W.A.S.P do a good cover version of it.
Alguem faça uma versão entendida, por favor 😊🎸🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶
Love the heavy bottom on this song.............
GREAT CLASSIC ❤
First time I heard this I heard it on regular show
Yeah man! 👍👍🤟🤟🤪
Great reaction!
Met Leslie West at Mitch Ryders club in Detroit in 75. Mountain was at Woodstock Legendary! Nobody! Dose Roll over Beethoven better ✌️🪴🐴🌄
Short and sweet
WASP did a very remarkable cover of this song....
..really worth checking out...
If you guys don't want to be like everyone else in the public at large...and hop on a band or music movement like the public at large always does:after it's already over, and it's too late.....You would be doing yourself a great service by checking out bands like Amyl and the sniffers and/or Starcrawler. Both are on the cusp of breaking out,and blowing up.....and becoming huge stars. You can wait until that happens, but you'll completely miss out on their arc. Like everyone did with Nirvana. By the time people got on board with Nirvana, their best work was behind them, and people really only got one good album before Kurt passed away. Their Bleach album was out 5 years before Nevermind, and to this day the most die hard Nirvana fans aren't even aware of the album at all....And it happens to be their best work. People latched on to Nevermind, but it wasn't even near as raw and organic as the Bleach record. Same thing with the Sex Pistols...by the time casual fans caught up with them, they were already broken up....and everyone missed the boat. I'm simply trying to help everyone learn from those collosal blunders and to avoid repeating ginourmous mistakes. I promise you will love these bands. There's nothing not to love about bands who actually "get it"... Where it isn't forced or derivative, but rather the genuine article. Arrow D'Wilde and Amy Taylor happened to be born rock stars. The world just doesn't know it yet. Now, nobody reading this can say that they haven't been told
The real issue is, if RUclips will push or promote the videos or content if we make it? This is one of the most frustrating points about being on this platform. We’ve worked hard for our sub and followers but every day it’s being proven that they do not belong to us.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT But you are so great and well established 😁 These aren't garage bands. They have followings and as I said, are on the cusp of becoming huge acts. Your journey has provided you with enough tools in your toolbox, that by now,it doesn't take you long to know the real deal when you see it. And both are the genuine article. If you have to guess,or try to talk yourself into it...by now you know. One look and you know. Take a look at these bands... even if you don't use it on your channel and just take a personal look if you have a minute. If you come back and tell me I'm wrong about them...I will never bother you again. But I am really sure of myself on this one
Do ya think that the kids are ready for some
Omar & the Howlers
Righteous!
If you like to react to more Mountain, I suggest "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" or Theme from an Imaginary Western. Toad is a Banger like this one 😎✌️
The only thing wrong with this song is it's too short.
Ram Jam - Black Betty
The single BEST hard rock song EVER. IMO. Short. Sweet. LOUD. RIP Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi. Really liked your reactions, folks. I'll have to come back here.
Nope but it was good
In 99' i saw a girl swing her hips in time with the cowbell once. We now have 5 kids. I saw her do it once, just once, boys, now be careful out there.
Check out all the Cover Versions of this Song...for example by GILLAN (Yes,Ian Gillan,Singer of Deep Purple, and his Solo Project).......
fantastic
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Raw a## Rock and Roll
You should watch the version of this song from Zakk Wylde. I think that you would enjoy it.
Gaelic Park The Bronx August 1972.
✌❤🤘👍👍❤❤❤
Needed more cowbells.
Wow...late to the party on Leslie West! Better late than never I suppose. Among guitar players... he's no secret. Not just because he did a cover...but from the very beginning one could tell Zakk Wylde was a Leslie West clone. As Zakk says: "You will inevitably end up sounding like whatever you grew up on a steady diet of"
Leslie West, say no more.
Try some BiG Band Swing! About time from 40 s ---> 60 s
Love this song, but I prefer April Wine's version.
