I freaking love this song and "knocking at your back door". Both from the Perfect Strangers album. I wore the cassette of this out back in the day,bad to get a new one. Had the album as well.
Elvis' "comeback special" on TV in 1968 is considered the greatest rock comeback. This has to be the second. It was sooo huge, believe me. People went bonkers: Deep Purple was back! People had missed this kind of British hard-rock sound (Blackmore's Rainbow was never quite it - it needed John Lord's keyboard). In the video, Blackmore even SMILES, lol
@@XtheMystic244 Ah, but they never went away. The Purple had been disbanded for almost a decade - to say nothing of the very style. That kind of heavy, epic, plodding style had been practically forgotten in '84, a time of thrash-anger bands and flashy guitar heroes in the EVH vein.
Their First Reunion Song....and damn.....I can remember when it was released.....and SMASHED right into my Face....one of the Best Comeback Songs ever written !
I must confess it was some yrs later til I heard this. Purple was not on my radar in '84. I was listening to Undercover, Altar Boys, Steve Taylor, etc.. fresh stuff outta Orange county 😎
Perfect Strangers was their Reunion Album. Different sound but still highly recognizable as classic Deep Purple. I got to see them Live on this world tour, absolutely awesome. Blew the Roof off of Kemper Arena here in Kansas City!
If you liked Ritchie Blackmores guitar riffs in this song check out a song he did when he had his on group. It was called Jealous Lover, awesome guitar riff as well.
Advenures of TNT...Yall are obviously good people, a cool, smart couple who do a great job with this outlet. From Merle Haggard to Deep Purple 💜, you're reactions bring me joy. Thanks....from a dying 64 year old white guy...Blees you and yours...😊
Deep Purple made a stellar comeback in 1984 after being broken up since 1976 (This line-up w/ Ian Gillan and Roger Glover) had not played together since 1973)... 'Perfect strangers' was an exceptional record. Strange that in 1983 to 1987, u had Kiss come back huge w/ 'Lick it up' after years of decline... Then, we got Aerosmith making a huge comeback in 1987 w/ 'Permanent vacation'... Yes coming back strong w/ '90125'... 70's rock bands finding success in the 80's! 🤘🤘 Unfortunately, quite a few 70's bands never came back w/ the same level of success - Blue Oyster Cult, U.F.O, Nazareth, Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, Kansas, Ramones, Blondie, etc.
I was a sophomore in high school, when this song came out. Such amazing memories, this song brings. Hanging out with friends sitting on the curb jamming on some GREAT music, this being one of them!!
If you know anything about this band , This song sung by Ian Gillan is a Diss to Guitarist Richie Blackmore . Ten years passed since last they recorded an album together
Ian Gillan and Ronnie James DIO are the two biggest vocal influence of Bruce Dickinson, Ritchie Blackmore is one of the biggest influences of Malmsteen, Petrucci and Steve Vai, Roger Glover of Rudy Sarzo and many other bassists, Ian Paice of Lars and many other drummers, and Jon Lord, is pretty much the most influential keyboardist and organist of the whole rock history.
I remember as a child taping this song off the radio during the weekly top forty show and it was there one week and gone in the next. Imagine all the other crap that charted way higher back then ( not worth taping )
Knockin at your back door is my fav deep purple song. It defines how to kayer and build a sound into a massive crescendo of melody. And i have argued that the opening lyrics are some of the coolest ever. Sweet Lucy was a dancer, but none of us would chance her, because she was a Samurai.
The nice thing about growing up When I did was the holy Trinity of hard rock out of England. Which was Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple I Personally like deep purple best Because I love the heavy keyboard sound with john lord and Ian Gillan voice The whole band and was on another level. I thought saythey had a longer catalog of great songs Where is black? Black sabbath with Ozzy in the seventies Never say die technical extasy Those two albums were some bar for the The Osborne era. They didn't redeem themselves till Dio joined Black Sabbath released Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules. Deep purple did not do that i've always loved their music. Led zeppelin two albums while they were still out the last two physical physical graffiti and and in through the outdoor They were good But nowhere near as good as the first four albums That is why I put j purple is the best band of the holy trinity of hard rock of those three groups
I saw them in 1972 when I was 21 I went to hear Black Sabbath and went away loving Deep Purple I had to see them a second time and they just got better. They are the best live band I have ever heard and that includes Led Zeppelin they came second to me. I have always preferred Purple
Went to see purple last year. Great night. Gillan for his age still has a good voice. What I don't understand is why are people on talking about the song etc. I have seen many and different groups. Surely what anyone else thinks about a song won't actually change your view on what you like
Hi! Now you need to do a reaction to a criminally overlooked guitarist who was Deep Purple's pick to replace Ritchie Blackmore and the Rolling Stone's pick to replace Mick Taylor- the legendary Rory Gallagher. For studio work, try taking a listen to "Cradle Rock" for its energy and gutsy slide work or the melancholy "Edged In Blue" for the exquisite solos. These are good introductions into his work. Thanks!
They came out of nowhere with this reunion, and it passed as quickly as it came. To be on such a long hiatus, come back at the top of their game...We were all hoping for a second album, but Ritchie Blackmore decided it would be better to make ren fair music with his hatchet faced old lady
Hey TNT, long time subscriber here! Figured I would find a new video in hopes you see this, have you guys ever heard the band ERRA? A couple of songs I think you would like are DRIFT and HOUSE OF GLASS. Would love to see reactions! Thanks!!
I am an older man from Amsterdam and I love to watch your video's and comments. Especially the smile of Tasha is great. I know she likes the flute, so I like to introduce you to a Dutch band from the 60's 70's. It's called Brainbox and the guitar player Jan Akkerman was very famous and it has some great flute parts in it. ruclips.net/video/405v2KYv3o8/видео.html
Great reaction I recommend you react to this video from the band that inspired Metallica to form in 1981 this band formed in 1976 and Metallica has covered many of their songs. Diamond Head - The Coffin Train animated version not the studio check the lyrics gave me goosebumps they get along with the video and the world today you will enjoy it.
Next reaction VOB "ENTER SANDMAN "Metalica cover VOB BAND ROCK TRIO HIJABERS from 🇮🇩 VOB consert LIVE AT FRANCE. TRANS MUSICALES DE RENNES 2021👍 VOB AMAZING super talented 🤟
I'm curious how come so long since last Tom MacDonald reaction? It's been 6 months and when you first learned about him your reviews were pretty regular. Just curious if you're getting some backlash on covering him. I understand if you don't feel right "or safe" if the question causes discomfort. I've been asked by my followers "on my 11 RUclips channels (well 12 but I just decided to activate this one and changed it's title specificially to cover controversial topics and non-better to start with than Tom MacDonald to kick the channel off) So I've already analyzed all his music and now watching all the reaction videos on YT to get an idea of the feeling about him. And while there are a lot of people getting the obvious message he's putting out fact is he has done WAY too much homework, research, etc for his videos and each video is full of easter eggs that NO ONE is catching onto. Except probably the politicians, wealthy, and government and they don't care really because they already know that vast majority of society won't see his videos (because they can't stand rap, the message his deliverying is over their head, totally miss the hidden messages 'which is sad actually') or any other reasons. But the fact is is that way too many people will miss his videos and message from both sides. So long way to go to give my reason for commenting but I found your channel specifically because of your Tom reaction videos. So why the layoff on covering him?
Deep Purple is my all-time favourite band, at least their music was up until 1975 or so. After that ... meh. Sadly this song is a ripoff of Zeppelin's Kashmir. Otherwise it would be fine.
I freaking love this song and "knocking at your back door". Both from the Perfect Strangers album. I wore the cassette of this out back in the day,bad to get a new one. Had the album as well.
Wasted Sunsets at La Haina's Beach House at sunset.
Nobody's Home
Wore my cassette out, too. My favorite Deep Purple album. Love every track.
I forget was the follow-up album called, "House Of The Blue Light"?? And what were the singles/videos from it ??
Elvis' "comeback special" on TV in 1968 is considered the greatest rock comeback. This has to be the second. It was sooo huge, believe me. People went bonkers: Deep Purple was back! People had missed this kind of British hard-rock sound (Blackmore's Rainbow was never quite it - it needed John Lord's keyboard). In the video, Blackmore even SMILES, lol
I'd have to disagree - ACDC's "Back in Black" IS the greatest comeback album ever !

Awesome Awesome show,,caught this tour, and can now say I saw THE TRUE DEEP PURPLE!!! R.IP.,J.L...............

My first record when It came out in record shops. A milestone, but not a comeback.

Purple do an epic version of this live.
Perfect Strangers was their Reunion Album. Different sound but still highly recognizable as classic Deep Purple. I got to see them Live on this world tour, absolutely awesome. Blew the Roof off of Kemper Arena here in Kansas City!
Of course this song isn't their biggest, but it's my favorite. It rocks from start to finish.
This song is a total vibe
' knocking at your back door ' is another great track from this album
I had forgotten about this song...one of their best!
Ian Gillian has some haunting vocals and those drums are awesome in this song
Drums are awesome in every Purple song! LOL
The other Ian

Come on people, this number was ruled by John Lord and you know it.
Love deep purple!
One of the best songs for me from the band, but hey I had all their albums!
If you liked Ritchie Blackmores guitar riffs in this song check out a song he did when he had his on group. It was called Jealous Lover, awesome guitar riff as well.
Saw them back in 85 Mannheim Germany one of the best concerts I have ever been too. Love this song
Putting everyone in the rock world on notice, this song was Deep Purple’s equivalent of the phrase, “I back baby!” 🤘😎
Advenures of TNT...Yall are obviously good people, a cool, smart couple who do a great job with this outlet. From Merle Haggard to Deep Purple 💜, you're reactions bring me joy. Thanks....from a dying 64 year old white guy...Blees you and yours...😊
My first real concert was Deep Purple on their Perfect Strangers Tour in 1985. Amazing band!!!
I was a detroit When that concert tour was going on No car You lucky What a loved too had seen that
This was my first concert. Bad Company opened for them at the old Kiel Auditorium in St.Louis Mo.

I almost drove off the road when I heard this on the radio.....
Kind of like hearing The Pot and Tempest.
🤯
yeah, killer riff, classic, 1984,one of the best, one of a kind vibe, 🎹🎸🥁🎤🤘🤘🤘
Haha. You fell into the Deep Purple vortex, just like we all do.
Nothing greater than cruising to this full blast. Knocking at Your Back Door is great, too
I love this song! Great job!!
Really liking the new thumbnail format. It lets you know exactly what you're getting into, and I appreciate it!
Dream Theater did a great live cover of this, as well as a live version with Bruce Dickinson on vocals.
Great tune! Huge come back album for them. Full of bangers.
If you know anything about this band , This song sung by Ian Gillan is a Diss to Guitarist Richie Blackmore . Ten years passed since last they recorded an album together
My favorite album never stop listening to it 🤘
This was and still is a bad ass banger🤘❤️
This song might be the answer of Deep Purple to "Kashmir" of Led Zeppelin....

"Space Station 5" is great, but "Perfect Strangers" is perfection.
GREAT BAND
Just a great, great song. Live is even better.
Top 10 of my favorites

Saw them at Knebworth when they reformed. I’m still drying out as it was wet that day. They still performed brilliantly despite the awful weather.
My first Deep Purple tour in 1985. Still ranks in the top 2.
Me too. 1985 at Long Beach Arena!
I saw them in 1972 when I was 21 I went to hear Black Sabbath and went away loving Deep Purple I had to see them a second time and they just got better. They are the best live band I have ever heard and that includes Led Zeppelin they came second to me. I have always preferred Purple
Deep Purples Kashmir
(that's not a slight, it's a seriously excellent song )
Great Song
There's a great version of Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson on vocals with Dream Theater performing the music.
Thought this would be the official video

Now, take a look at "Knocking at Your Backdoor."

Fun Fact: This song was used by a former ECW wrestler. This song was used for Shane Douglas aka The Franchise.
They just don't do it like that anymore. I grew up in the 70's and I still feel the best music came from there.
👍
Went to this concert as a 16 year old. My ears just stopped ringing
Not responsible is the best song on the album..it would have fit well on machine Head.
Tough to beat Perfect Strangers

Rodney James Dio I think
The classic lineup was forging its own sound from 1969-72. This song has too many Zeppelin influences, so it's just OK.
Sorry Sammy, “Perfect Strangers” all day long!
This was DP last good song .
Oh the tragedy of the knitwear
