One of the greatest test cricketer of Australia at paar with McGrath, Warne & Gilchrist....averaging nearly 60 in first innings from 90 - 2000 i.e. almost for 10 years...
Glad you mentioned gilly !
No Ponting though?
Averaged amazing overseas and against all lethal attacks. Played against top West Indian attacks from 80s to early 00s, equally good against spin, great on all kind of pitches, he was ranked world's number 1 all-rounder in both test and ODIs until back issues forced him to give up bowling, in terms of impact in winning matches for his team there is no player in the last 50 years who could match Steve Waugh. Only Viv's name can come to mind. Waugh won two ODI World cups for his country and had the world record wins in tests too.
@@Remen-tj3ph one of the all time legend..his knock of 120* vs SA in 1999 wc was probably the knock which laid the foundations for the INVINCIBLE AUSTRALIA
@@sudhanshumitra1989 definitely my friend, the attack SA had at the time was among the most lethal in cricket history and the match was crucial for Australia to survive in the world cup. No wonder the only man who rose to the occasion was Waugh. Bigger the stage bigger his performances were.
Though an Indian ,still I miss that Steve Waugh Era of Australian cricket , I hated that Australian team but now I miss that team the most, insane level of domination for more than a decade from Steve to Ricky .
Their ERA was the best.....but now no team can dominate like them.....not even the new Australia.
@@olivertwist8292 that era did see cricket viewership and fan following on a whole different level which is incomparable but we also can't outrightly deny that in this era the gap between top notch teams and others finding themselves a little lagging than others is significantly very less as compared to the gap between teams say 20 years ago ,so that level of domination is impossible but we do England and India a little ahead of other teams that's why this Australian team often gets criticised coz ppl often compare to that great Australian team played under Waugh and Ponting .
This Steve Waugh & Ricky Ponting lead Oz team was outrageous...just class way above than other teams...
One of toughest batsman who prices his wickets in any conditions
Doesn’t account take away from him about the bowlers being bad. Against good bowling attacks he prized his wicket and made life hard
@@anirudhanagarajan7530 yes he was very good against good bowling (eg Donald)
I see Steve Waugh in the title I click the Like button
Steve Waugh performed in some of the toughest batting conditions (Grenada 1995, Edgbaston 1999 WC vs South Africa, in last league match he scored 120* from 50/3 to chase 280 against peak Donald, Pollock)
and many more situations when his team was in trouble. and yet for some reason there consistently have been a few critics (haters even) of Waugh.
Steve steel Waugh golden boy of golden generation of aussies cricket
The time when all Indian bowlers bowled at the speeds of a spinner. 🤣
Greatest Aussie Cricketer of all time
Steve Smith should play at one down for better results against tough teams like INDIA, ENGLAND. Once Look at past results of Australian team.
Bradman
@@smj6491have u ever seen Bradman play? 😂
@@vickyshukla5178 things happen regardless of if i see it happen or not. it would be ignorant to say it isnt bradman when donald bradman is the greatest statistical outlier in all sports ever.
Bradman, Benaud, Border, Waugh, Greg Chappell, Lillie, McGrath, Warne
Australian skipper and all rounder Steve Waugh was my childhood crush. Steve Waugh from Oceania. I enjoyed his walking talking stares. When he came for the toss round, wearing that cap and that silk coat, reserved, eyes either looking forward or looking downward, my heart beat faster. I remember him holding the trophy with his hands smiling when the nation won the world cup.i think that was 99'. I still do love him. As Shakespeare wrote in his sonnet about love - ' ......it is an ever fixed mark', ' .......love's is not time's fool ....'
Best of luck captain for your present and future
Both brothers are very ,very handsome.
Imagine increasing your average , problem solving against the short ball by removing the hook shot, becoming a great captain and being reliable in a crisis somehow being translated into the less stylish waugh, seen as selfish and too defensive. People who know nothing about cricket and hard work will never recognise S.Waugh. A talented bat who set aside the way he looked to give Australia results and a rock to rely on.
Australia don't have Batsman like Steve Waugh in the current Series in India
and India didn't have bowlers like Prasad for him to feed on :)
@@20shourya I m an Indian....but even though your comment shows immense disrespect to the legacy of Steve Waugh...he was better test batsman than Ricky Ponting & even Steve Smith as far as impact is concerned....A batsman of Steve Waugh's mindset can even score hundred easily in front of Bumrah, Shami,Siraj,Ashwin & Jadeja...Steve Waugh has faced Bowlers of this quality throughout his entire career and ended up hitting 32 hundreds & 10k test runs...in simple if you wanna witness his impact see his innings of 120 not out vs SA in 1999 wc...u will understand why Steve Waugh was the most loved cricketer alongside Warne, McGrath & Gilchrist....
@@20shouryaour current bowlers are good but Steve Waugh scored against likes of ambrose walsh Donald pollock Wasim Akram Waqar Younis even in today generation he will give tough fight to our team
@@20shourya teenager talking, go check Steve Waugh videos against Ambrose, Walsh, Marshall, Waqar, Wasim, Shoaib, Donald, Pollock, Murali, oh I can name 25 more. Today's flat pitch cricket fans won't understand this.
This was strong Australian team ever witnessed
India had Australia 4/50 odd in that test match and managed to get thrashed. It said a lot about Australia’s depth despite a strong Indian team.
If I had to get a batsman to bat for my life steve waugh is the one I would pick.
Nice way to keep the spirits high of ur country men.
Legend ❤️❤️❤️
Best 👌
Classic cricket, superb knock. Steve waugh
Great captain and great cricketer 👌👍
Fantastic video.
Damn Steve Waugh
Loved watching the Waugh brothers bat for different reasons. Mark was poised, elegant, composed. Steve was dogged, a fighter. If you had your back to the wall, he's the guy you'd want.
And then there's Ponting. Punter had both of those qualities in some measure.
Good batting
Wow man this is god
Tough Guy
Good
Long like the King
My favorite cricket er is Steve Waugh
🤩🤩
This reminds me of current state of aussies in indian conditions.. Pitches spin but no quality spinners.. As indians didn't have quality fast bowlers here so lower order could plunder them
Good 🥰👌👌👌 Nice 🥰👍
That is captain innings & my favourite test captain.
Steve Waugh means Australian cricket
Imran Khan, Dhoni, Steve Waugh are unmatchable skippers
"Barood"! Who can remember the promo?

Once steve batted well he gets out in next day only 😂😂😂😂😂
Car means Benz & cricket means Australia 🌏🌏🌏🦘🦘🦘
What ground was this?
Adelaide I imagine? Short square boundaries
Seems vulnerable outside 4th off stump....plays on the up, rather than controlled drive
Played that way his whole career and was over 50 avg in his prime and one of the best bats in the world. Didn't look pretty but chose a gameplan that was hard to compromise.
@@Shivian124 , right
Against the most toothless bowling attack of all time?
Let’s talk about his record in India..
47.36 Average
Indian cricket fans lack brains nowadays literally tbh they are trolling Cummins badly despite knowing that he donated money during covid phase to ind
Why are they trolling Cummins? His mother is dying.
When you elect a leader like Modi as your PM and re-elect him, don’t expect the people of the country to be of the highest caliber or have any emotional intelligence.
I don’t count them as fans. People who go to troll players going through tough moments (especially everything with his mum), do not deserve the title of cricket fans
@@anirudhanagarajan7530 exactly. Furthermore, people who have nothing going on in their lives and have nothing to offer but hatred for another community or people cannot be expected to have any semblance of empathy bc they’re already dead from inside. Zombies.
@@taimurhuk543 More than Zombies, they have the emotional maturity of 5 year olds. In Wisden’s post celebrating Harry Brook, they are throwing their toys out the crib because they think it’s an attack on team India and it’s players that an English magazine is celebrating an English player. As usual India lost test series by 3-0 in the Australia
Yeah bro i think you are leaving in the past
Kaun kaun Dream11 khelta hai? 😍

Posting these videos so that Indians can click and complain.
Cheer up mate it’s just a game 💁
Please don't show strokes played off non bowler ganguly bowling rubbish

Alan Border and Steve Waugh were responsible for the re-birth of Australian Test cricket.
Darren Lehman led to our plummet, IMHO.

I'd add Mark Taylor to that list.
