    I'm an electronics Engineer with 40 years experience and have spent a lot of time teaching electronics and test equipment.
    Apologies if I do not throw myself at your feet like other viewers.
    I found your descriptions incomplete and vague.
    Then there was your statement at 2.29 that you were changing the timebase to 500 uS but you actually changed it to 50, and said noting about it.
    These videos are so easy to shoot there is no excuse for errors.

    Thanks for the response Enrique, I'd love a Pico, unfortunately not in the budget at the moment. I guess I'll have to resort to taking pictures of the scope screen for now. I use a Pico at work, I have the Hantek at home. The more I use the Hantek, the more I miss the Pico. It is however better than nothing.

    You can do things with a Hantek that are impossible on a regular oscilloscoope, EG.
    you can show two waveforms and adjust for a different time base for each..Your laptop screen view is huge (usually) compared to regular scope. Pity the software is unstable and crappy. On mine, forget xy or fft, program just cashes and restarts (win 7), maybe it works on XP..

  • @derekkchung

    The sample square wave is 0-2V and 1ms per wave?
    When I set the horizonal zoom to 100ms, I can see a hundred waves in a division (yes, very dense). When I change to 200ms, I should see 2 hundred waves per division (even denser), right? But I see a wave per 2.5 divisions. Is this a bug or I am not using this correctly?
    I see the 2 tabs has polarity. If I reverse ground and positive, shouldn't I get a wave of 0v to -2v but it gives me no signal?
    And I can't seem to stabilize the wave using the triggers you described.
    Either the software is so buggy or it is just me. I have ver 1.0.30.

    Hi I have a Hantek 1008c and the ht25 auto probe for checking the secondary ignition on a corolla without the coil on plug ignition . I am unable to get a clear stable wave form , do you or any of your followers have knowledge of the set up . I've done the injector wave forms and it was stable and clear so I don't think the equipment is an issue . Regards Pete

      I have never had an issue with the HT25 but I do know that non COP Toyota spark plug wires are really thin. Perhaps if you had something metallic that would take up the slack between the probe and the wire (Small piece of aluminum foil), it might result in a better signal. Unfortunately I do not have access to a vehicle with spark plug wires so I can not check this for you myself. I hope this helps. Let me know how it works out.

    • @Enrique_Osorio
      @Enrique_Osorio  4 года назад +1

      Yes, unfortunately in my experience the claims of the manufacturer do not line up well with reality. Typically the software will glitch if voltage spikes above 30V - 40V are measured without an attenuator. YMMV since I highly doubt there is a great deal of quality control in the making of these scopes.

  • @BlackBlade0001
    @BlackBlade0001 7 лет назад +1

    I am trying to figure out if there is a way to monitor/record the frequency waveform from a mass air flow sensor and to see what the max frequency it hits when I snap the throttle. I have recorded a waveform and did the test but on playback I see where the snap happens but its gone before I can pause it, even on the slowest playback speed. Do you have any suggestions Enrique on how to tackle this issue? Pico has the nice ability to graph a frequency, but of course its cost is prohibitive, at least for me.

    • @Enrique_Osorio
      @Enrique_Osorio  7 лет назад +1

      The best way I can think of is to have it playing live with a short time base and with the frequency measurement on. I would say the time base should be low enough that you can only see one or two square waves. Once you have that set your trigger so the waveform is stable. Then snap your throttle. The frequency should rise and the square waves will get tighter. If you see the squarewave disappear into a blur or the squarewave gets way tighter than a normal snap, you just saw the frequency rise way above normal. This may work but it's no guarantee.

      Thank you Enrique, your tutorial is also useful to us weirdos who invested in the snap-on scopes, because sometimes their component tests which are supposed to have the trigger points and time span set. And sometimes I get a dirty screen, even if I've had a calibration cycle done, your tutorials have helped me set my Verus scanner / lab scope up to get more accurate illustrations of various components and systems I've had to test and I've been getting more diagnosis and a better understanding of conditions of those components, so thanks again, keep it up!!

    Hi Enrique, I'm having trouble storing waveforms with my Hantek. Could you do a tutorial on capturing waveforms and creating a data base? When I capture an image and store it as either a jpeg or bitmap, when I refer back to it the scope pattern is cut-off.

    • @Enrique_Osorio
      @Enrique_Osorio  5 лет назад +2

      It has been extremely hit or miss with the store function on the Hantek. I personally do not recommend using it. It works well with simple waveforms such as square waves but anything more complicated it is not worth it. I will attempt to show how it works in the future but it not currently a priority. I recommend a PicoScope, even an old used one for storing. In my experience they have the best software for that type of function.

      If you want an official kit try sparkfun.com (here is a link for that)
      www.sparkfun.com/products/14418
      Luckily arduino is an open source device that allows other people to make copies of it. On eBay you can buy "knock off" kits that work just as well as the real deal. Here is a link as an example.
      ebay.to/2TXNeTv
      I do not recommend buying that one, not because it is bad, because you should buy a kit with items that interest you. There are many options out there. You do not eve have to get an arduino. A breadboard, some wires and some components and you can get started with just a few dollars. Let me know if you have other questions.

    - my Hantek 1008c now gives me false measurements and I don't know why, I did the zeroing and even the factory setting and nothing changed, and when I measure the 2v 1khz it gives me false measurements

    • @Enrique_Osorio
      @Enrique_Osorio  4 года назад +2

      Tell me what you mean by false measurements. Is it showing a sine wave rather than a square wave. Is the amplitude or frequency wrong? Is it a blank screen?
      In the mean time try these troubleshooting tips. First try a different channel. Next I would try a different probe. If that does not work try different time bases and volts per division. Lastly if all else fails I would try to see if any signal will work at all. If none of that works try a different PC. Let me know what you find.

      @@Enrique_Osorio I mesure 0.347 v for all mesurements ( battery or any other signal)

    • @Enrique_Osorio
      @Enrique_Osorio  4 года назад +1

      That is interesting. I am wondering if it is a hardware issue or software. Here is a test. Going under the assumption that it is a hardware issue this would mean that the hardware is erroneously telling the software that the input is 0.347V. Since the software is trusting the hardware telling the software that a 10x probe is connected or a 100x probe is connected then the measurement should also be divided by that amount. Try selecting 10x probe and 100x probe and let me know what the measurements are.
      If the measurements change as expected then it is likely some type of hardware issue which could be the voltage probe or the Hantek itself.
      If nothing changes it is likely a software issue and I recommend using the video that I posted to reinstall your software and drivers. Links below.
      I am sure there is a third option that I am not seeing. Personally I find it difficult to diagnose anything if I am not right there with the malfunctioning object. Let me know what you find.

      Ignition waveforms will read just fine on the Hantek. I have made several videos showing how to do this.

      ruclips.net/video/2QK8r6N9qXM/видео.html
      Please keep in mind, when measuring the primary ignition circuit, the voltage spikes can be nearly 400 volts which can damage your scope if you do not have an attenuator. I have made several videos which address the use and function of an attenuator.
      I have another video showing a trick I learned to capture the secondary ignition signal from a COP.
