- This is out 2022 manual shift box for manual control of the A340 , A341 , A342 and A343 toyota transmissions. Also work of the AW4 Mitsubishi transmission and the some Jeep and volvo versions.
The Cartune Company (2003) Ltd in New Zealand does 1uz and 3uz conversions / parts and wiring. We have been working on UZ Toyota V8 engines since 2004 when we did our own Hiace van to transport dirtbikes around NZ. Since then we have swapped to doing mainly just Lexus V8 work from a family owned farm hidden away in our paradise , surrounded by the NZ native bush. We sell parts and simple to follow wiring instructions for the 1uzfe engines. For enquiries email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz Take Care. Kelvin
Love the thought of manual shifting an autobox. Something that does this for the A761E would be really, really useful… 😀
I can think of a Delica that might need this. My only niggle with the van has been that the lock up is so sensitive that at 100kph it's constantly dropping in and out at the slightest movement of the accelerator. Might be giving you a call in the very near future.
First time doing 1UZ swap. I found an A341F transmission with transfer case from a Sequoia and plan to keep using the 1UZ computer to shift, but possibly swap valve bodies to keep the TV cable so I don't have to build a " TV cable to solenoid converter" for pressure regulation.
Ok. Does the sequoia transmission have the front speed sensor for input drum speed? And a 4 pulse rear sensor trigger wheel?
@@CartuneNZ I do not Know yet I still have to pick it up from the salvage yard and only picked up my engine last week. I am new to internal modifications.
Thanks Very interesting ive learned a lot, can u make a vid rewiring the 2lte or 1kz ect box? 😅😅
This manual shift box works on the 2l-te and the 1kz auto transmissions as well. Cheers Kelvin
Great video brother!
Thanks
Looks like a great unit. What are they priced at, Kelvin?
Interesting thought, I wonder if there would be a way to add some kind of tach sensor to the lock up, that way you could possibly eliminate "forgetting" to take lock up off under a certain rpm range? Possibly even connected to a vacuum switch where zero (or near zero vacuum) could turn the lock up off? Love your work, keep it up!!
There is ways of doing this however the cost outways the benefits for most uses. The next step is a programable ecu to control the transmission.
There is a cheap, easy way to do it. Pulse sensing relay kit from Jaycar, $40. Tee it into the speed sensor on the car, hook the lockup solenoid through the NO contact. You can adjust using the trimpots for lockup speed and hysteris (how much below the set speed you can drop before it disconnects) I've got mine setup this way in case Wife or someone else drives it, makes it impossible to lockup below the set speed. Can install more than one if you wish, so a second disconnect is set to a very low speed and disconnects entirely even in manual lockup mode, disconnects below 30kph road speed. Cheap and easy, not the most sophisticated method but it works really well.
@@NMBRPL8 dats clever, mate!
Can I come out and just be like a apprentice plz😂
I had a line pressure cable snap and bought what I was told from Lexus was the last one in existence, is that cable something you can get your hands on ? , I think I should start emailing you directly I have so many things to ask , don't want to spam your you-tube channel LOL , Thanks for all the info though its very helpful and Ive been watching all your videos
Kelvin, I assume gear indicator lights would be incorporated into the setup? I am one of those that prefer visual reminders.
My '98 Lexus gs400 has button shifting controls on the steering wheel but it's the 5 spd auto. Great video Kelvin! How's the weather down there? Canada is cold 🥶 !
Yes the GS400 has options for owner shifting but funny enough its not an option on most of the LS and SC models. Its been really really hot here until today when we have welcomes some much needed rain. My watertank if full again which is nice, some of my corn is horizontal which isnt ideal. You can keep your cold over there thanks. Cheers Kelvin
@@CartuneNZ Correct only the gs had the option but only in 1998. The cold weather helps me appreciate the summer more. I still like cold beer regardless of the outdoor temp.
@@billygreenhorn9275 GS after '98 also had it. Standard on the GS400
I need this.
Looks like the thing I need! How much and how do I get 1!
How can I get one built for my built A340e Transmission
very cool to see this being developed further, do you have a video the goes further into detail about the lock-up function of the transmission. I think I read somewhere it can only handle 30% throttle before its in danger of slipping, so with this box if you were in the top gear and locked-up and floored it would it do any damage?
Yes, there is a chance of damage if the user uses lockup incorrectly. They can go further than 30% but on a stock system they drop lockup early, this sometimes makes towing a pain with lockup dropping out
I had an a340 behind a 7mge in the 91 Cressida.
In eco mode, TC would lock up half a second after 1-2 change at wot.
Same in 3rd, not sure about 4th cause that would be past 180kph.
Strangely, power mode would change gears a couple hundred rpm higher, but never locked tc in 2nd at wot.
The tc lockup was fairly violent, i dont think timing was retarded like during actual gear changes.
Hey , I wanna ask you if it’s possible to suit 1uz-fe transmissions bolt on into 1fz-fe bellhousing, cuz there was a discussion that the some of the uz trans are the same bolt pattern of the 1fz-fe bellhousing. So Is there any uz trans will be bolt on on 1fz-fe ?
Hey mate, are you still making these? If so what’s your price, and is it possible to setup an LCD that displays what gear you’re in?
Yes, this is our current model. At present we dont have intentions of adding a display. Email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz and my PA will sort a price
Hey man where can I buy this for my car
Emal info@thecartunecompany.co.nz cheers Kelvin
I'm interested but how do I purchase it I'm in Oz
email info@thecartunecompany.co.nz and my PA will sort once we are back from Summer break. Cheers Kelvin
I have an A341E. Can I use your shift controller without the factory Toyota ECU connected to the transmission?
Also, I plan on moving to an aftermarket throttle body. Do I have to have the cable connected to the throttle body for the transmission to work correctly?
My manual shift box does not use anything from the stock ecu, or any other ecu, it runs completely separate. The line pressure cable is best if its connected. Alternatively, it can be set to full pressure, which can make shifts quite harsh
@@CartuneNZ Does running the transmission at full line pressure at all times reduce the lifespan of the transmission?
Its not ideal and depending on your usage hard on the transmission. Most guys running them this way are offroad only and overall use is low, if doing lots of kms I definitely would not recommend it.
@@CartuneNZ It'll be behind my 2JZ making about 650 HP (484~ kW) in a weekend corner carver.
Thanks for all the info. I'll shoot you guys an email for a quote on one.

So Kelvin when are you going are you going to return Mr Max Pearse of Perth Western Australia 3UZ engine harness and ECU and 1GR engine harness and ECU that you've had for 12 months now, and won't take his phone calls and occasionally send him pathetic emails that your under a lot of pressure. Your just a rip off fruit loop
