    In this video we show the basic valve body rebuild procedure for an A340 transmission (30-40LE)
    IPT Performance Transmissions reworks and modifies these valve bodies for performance use, which also includes a full rebuild of the component.
    These can be found in almost all RWD and 4X4 Toyota and Lexus vehicles starting in 1985 and ending around 2009 or so- Including SUPRA, SOARER, 4 RUNNER, CELICA, LAND CRUISER, TACOMA, T100, TUNDRA GS300, GS400, GS430, IS300, LS 400, LS430, LX450, LX470, RX300, RX330, SC300, SC400, ISUZU 30-40LE and Jeep AW4

    The Aisin A340, introduced in 1985, stands as a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission crafted by Aisin Warner, the world's leading automatic transmission manufacturer based in Japan. Initially featured in Toyota vehicles, it later found its way into Lexus and Kia models. Following the A340, the A341 and A343 transmissions emerged, drawing inspiration from the original A340 but undergoing internal modifications for enhanced performance in diverse vehicles.
    This transmission trio, spanning over two decades until the early 2000s, earned global popularity for its reliability, versatility, and performance. The A340 series, tailored for various vehicles and applications, carried a medium torque rating but could handle higher horsepower and torque with appropriate modifications.
    The nomenclature reveals key details: 'A' for Aisin Automatic, '3' for the transmission generation, '4' denoting 4 forward gears, and '0' identifying the transmission variant. Additional letters at the end signify unique models, such as 'E' for electronically controlled 2-wheel drive, 'F' for 4-wheel drive, 'H' for AWD transverse mounted engines, and 'S' for tip-tronic gear shift control.
    For example, the A340E, in stock form, accommodates up to 320 horsepower and 300-350 lb-ft of input torque. The A341E builds on this, designed for turbocharged vehicles with added features like a shift control solenoid for smoother gear shifts. The A343E, an upgraded A340E, shares similarities but differs from the A341E in gearing ratio.
    Interestingly, the AW4 used in certain Jeep vehicles is essentially a rebadged A340, showcasing the transmission's versatility. Some A340 variations include variable torque converter clutch and accumulator pressure controls, internal temperature sensors, and distinct features. Noteworthy is the A340 30-40LS, paired with the 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo engine, offering paddle shifting with engine braking and a power limit of approximately 500HP on stock internals.

    Love this video! One question- is it alright to use lithium based grease as assembly lube for this style transmission? I'm struggling to find anything else

    I worked for toyota for 30 years .I can see a lot of heat. What i didn't see is that you checked that valve body for warping they are good for that it will not show while apart all the valves will be free but when assembled they will get stuck giving a whole lot of problems

      All valve bodies that we touch are stoned flat and/or thrown out if they are warped, however, seeing one bad like that is extremely rare (I’m only doing transmissions for 36 years though)
