We have an open floor plan and lots of kids, dogs and just a busy household but I’ve found that it helped with curtains, rugs etc to help dampen sounds but my favorite find was acoustic wall tiles and I put them behind artwork. They work great behind canvas artwork! I cut to size and pop them back there. If it helps anyone else I’m happy to pass that little bit along.

I agree with you about noise. I like to get up at around 4:30 a.m. just to enjoy a few hours of quiet before the world wakes up. No phone, no music, no computer but complete silence. It does wonders for my mood to ease into my day this way.

Such an important topic, Mia! I agree with you on the sound. Whenever I find myself in stressful times I try to take a short nap in the middle of the day - just completely shutting down for 20 minutes helps me so much.
Some other things I do to avoid overstimulation:
    - Limit the number of open tabs on my laptop
    - Write down every to do that comes to my mind
    - Tidy / declutter

Your baby Chloe is the sweetest ❤.
I have Loop earplugs and they have done absolute wonders with overstimulation. I use them when I want to focus, when my kiddo is feeling rambunctious, when I can't handle the outside environment.
I have all 3 pairs, and I will say for anyone who only can invest in 1, I use the 'Engage' pair the absolute most. But, your situation may be different if sleep or experiences are a bigger part of your needs.

I need to have music playing or have a podcast on or other pleasant background noise or I get restless. However, to be fair, I like quiet when I’m sleeping.

I love silence too. Whenever I’m overstimulated (most of the times it’s just what is going on in my mind) I completely shut down. I love to go to sleep to escape or meditate with the very beautiful music from Loreena McKennitt playing very soft. But sometimes it is all the noise around me (I have a school in my backyard, a train station very close to me and also a highway passing by my house, not to forget people in my apartment building that need to drill 😂) and then I go to sleep or go for a walk.

All that independent sleep preferences & routines thing sounds like the ONE area in life where mutual effort to mesh with partner husband person is not optional. Tech is SUCH a barrier.
Until you reach 75 or something. Then all bets are off...
Granted this is a curated video so private is private. Maybe I misheard, or misinterpreted.
(Or if you're in a hotel, or home alone, no problem I guess.)
