I had two (monetization) strikes for music and had to mute the sound for a few minutes on those videos. Yes, it's extremely frustrating when you put this much time and effort into videos and the audio source that you pay a subscription to doesn't manage their music collection correctly and it causes monetization strikes. I used to use Audio Hero, but have since gone with another source because I don't have time to mess with that. ;)
Good info in this one. I didn’t know a strike only lasted for 90 days. I’ve disputed a few claims on the basis of using music as fair use (I’m teaching the song, not covering the song). This could be another related subject for you to cover...fair use. Cheers.

Man this video helped a lot recently because I have two copyright claims and I checked on RUclips studio and it said it won’t affect my RUclips channel with those two videos that had the claim and luckily it’s not a strike so thanks dude I really appreciate it it really helps a lot since I was worried about my RUclips channel

I removed 7 of my videos and a short I just made, but those can be recuperated. I just upload vids for fun, never intended to have any monetary gain made from any of them.

I have no idea why RUclips doesn't just give us 7 days by default to remove a video or not. We shouldn't have to keep suffering from copyright strikes when most of us would just simply take the video down.
Phew! I’m glad that the “Copyright claim” issue is just an automatic system from youtube. I checked all of my videos with copyright claims and none of them affected my channel whatsoever! The only consequence you’ll get is that you won’t get any ad revenue and that will go to the music owner instead. Things only get serious if the owner actually tries to sue you themselves, but other than that, it’s just part of youtube’s coding.

Thank you! As a new Vlogger, I received three copyright dings while using the built in GoPro app music library as well as one track from Creative Commons. I stated the royalty free license blurbs in each video but still got dinged. I’m trying to determine the best process to avoid this going forward. It’s more annoying than anything. Funny thing…. I reported my two GoPro fair use issues with them but they were 100% unhelpful so I will be canceling my account with them

Great video...I've gotten lucky a couple times when I disputed because the music was being played in the background at the casino I was recording at and I had no intent of using the song ...it was under fair use..I usually try to add some music at about 65% volume during the edit and it usually will change it enough to avoid the copyright depending on the volume of the song I'm trying to change..Thanks..
So this has crossed my mind of late. What happens if someone makes a claim that some song you posted is copyright, but the song, in fact, is your own composition? In other words, the person lied!?? How does one prove that a song is their own and they had every right to post it?

Excellent points! But I think what I and many others in my review niche would like to know is about "fair use" or "fair dealing" if you're in the UK and Canada. If you get a claim on a review, can you still file a dispute? And if so, what if they still put the claim on?
There are millions of channels using copywrite songs and these are never taken down. Its not like it an excerpt for discussion, they are full songs. You get a person at home just adding a song for his holoday video, no monetisations and Epic label come in and block the video... it`s not even compatable situations... so why are these blocked and others not?

I was looking at my own channel, and saw a Copyright Claim against one of my videos. I do a lot of Friday Night Funkin' mods, so when I saw this, I had a nice little panic attack debating to trim out the in-game song or to mute it. I'm not the best with making decisions; it'll turn into a 10-min debate, and even when I do something, I have serious regrets afterwards. I ended up muting it, but then my boomer of a grandmother is like, do you have license to play that game. It's a free game, and it's a game I like to play on my channel.

No- but if you know where the music is from you can usually find the artist and reach out to them. Often though, it is another industry flagging their content, not the actual creator.
Yes you can they actually give you their full name and you can respond directly to their email that is provided. We have someone harassing us giving us copyright claims when we have a paid license for the videos we are using.
I can't believe I had a claim made against me over a 37 second clip of me playing Mega man 7 (in Slashman's stage out of anything), which is dumb because I've already done Megaman lets plays before and capcom thinks the rest is totally fine. Just saw by the video under Disabilitys: That it was possible coppyright. I really want to avoid that, so I changed the song. Now there stands nothing Under: "Disabilitys."😁

Alternative solution: Devolop a deep connection with your subscribers and watch them crusade. You'd be surprised at what a few thousand angry people can accomplish. Just look at what happened with Jukin Media.
This is very helpful because I got a claim on the background music in a video when it was meant to be copyright free so I was worried😂 Update: I think the reason that I got the claim is because I have the music too loud on the video so it isn’t really in the background so I’ll know for future references

I think that is my question too, if I'm understanding you corectly. So lets say, i write some music/song. Let's say I create a video of my playing, MY OWN CREATION (on the keyboards) and some fool tries to put a copyright claim on me... FOR MY OWN WORK! How is that even possible in the first place!? How can YT even accept that without the claimant providing PROOF of ME not being the writer of my own music/song? This whole thing sure sounds like an easy way for troublemakers to just cause sh*t!! So the question is, "how does the actual writer of music/song PROVE that it's their own if they've never published it??" The only way that I knew how to protect myself, decades ago, was to print out my stuff, put it into envelopes, go to the post office and pay to send it to myself via REGISTERED MAIL with signature required. Receipts included. These days, I don't know how people can protect themselves from the growing number of scammers.
Copyright claim is nothing. They just letting you know about the claim has been made. But, if you got a copyright strikes, that's where you have to worry about because it can removed your account permanently. It is OK to get claimed than get striked.
TYSM, I don't really mind that I'm not earning anything from the ads because I just upload to RUclips for fun! So I'm glad there's nothing to worry about lol

Excellent points! But I think what I and many others in my review niche would like to know is about "fair use" or "fair dealing" if you're in the UK and Canada. If you get a claim on a review, can you still file a dispute? And if so, what if they still put the claim on?
There are millions of channels using copywrite songs and these are never taken down. Its not like it an excerpt for discussion, they are full songs. You get a person at home just adding a song for his holoday video, no monetisations and Epic label come in and block the video... it`s not even compatable situations... so why are these blocked and others not?

So I’m a new editor (aka I make edits of characters in shows, you can check them out for yourself) and I use a lot of copyrighted music, and other editors do not get claimed whilst I do. What do I do then? What are they doing right?
I'm thinking of starting another channel without branding when I have property to sell to go on the MLS, (not allowed to have our name phone # etc) and create the same video but with branding to put on my main channel. I was looking at my own channel, and saw a Copyright Claim against one of my videos. I do a lot of Friday Night Funkin' mods, so when I saw this, I had a nice little panic attack debating to trim out the in-game song or to mute it. I'm not the best with making decisions; it'll turn into a 10-min debate, and even when I do something, I have serious regrets afterwards. I ended up muting it, but then my boomer of a grandmother is like, do you have license to play that game. It's a free game, and it's a game I like to play on my channel.
It says that ‘Copyright-protected content found. The owner allows the content to be used on RUclips’ on a video that I made WITHOUT using anyone else’s stuff. I don’t know whether it could be the song or an image I used in the video that got copyrighted.

No- but if you know where the music is from you can usually find the artist and reach out to them. Often though, it is another industry flagging their content, not the actual creator.
Yes you can they actually give you their full name and you can respond directly to their email that is provided. We have someone harassing us giving us copyright claims when we have a paid license for the videos we are using.

In my case a very important brand treats me with a legal suit. I was very scare and I delete the video afraid of total banned.
I can't believe I had a claim made against me over a 37 second clip of me playing Mega man 7 (in Slashman's stage out of anything), which is dumb because I've already done Megaman lets plays before and capcom thinks the rest is totally fine. I even put my avatar overlay images which I drew for myself, on the 37 second clip cuz it was me freaking out falling down a waterall. Yet capcom is crying over the tiniest amount of gameplay ever, yet they are letting speedrunners and famous people play that same clip of the game WHILE letting them monetise it normally. Like what?

i got 2 strikes, and i panicked right away, was worried so much , that i deleted the 2 videos before looking in depth why it happend like this video helpfully describes.. i wish i checked all in depth before deleted the 2 vids..

Thank you for this. I have just had a copyright claim but the music was on RUclipss no copyright list. I have still gone ahead and tried to remove it from my vlog. I wouldn’t mind but even acknowledged the track at the end of my vlog. It scared me silly, I have been trying to do everything by the book. Thank you for your help

I think that is my question too, if I'm understanding you corectly.
So lets say, i write some music/song.
Let's say I create a video of my playing, MY OWN CREATION (on the keyboards) and some fool tries to put a copyright claim on me... FOR MY OWN WORK!
How is that even possible in the first place!? How can YT even accept that without the claimant providing PROOF of ME not being the writer of my own music/song?
This whole thing sure sounds like an easy way for troublemakers to just cause sh*t!!
So the question is, "how does the actual writer of music/song PROVE that it's their own if they've never published it??"
The only way that I knew how to protect myself, decades ago, was to print out my stuff, put it into envelopes, go to the post office and pay to send it to myself via REGISTERED MAIL with signature required. Receipts included.
These days, I don't know how people can protect themselves from the growing number of scammers.

Copyright claim is nothing. They just letting you know about the claim has been made. But, if you got a copyright strikes, that's where you have to worry about because it can removed your account permanently. It is OK to get claimed than get striked.
