Hey first
I'm so early
Please try to guide me I have send you my problem as a comment . it'll be nice of you if you tell me what to do .
Hi there Mr. Rob lone time no see by the way the RUclips have remover the spam comments from my RUclips studio just today you know.
I have received a lot of copyright claims. A 1/3 of the videos on my channel are copyright claimed. It sucks because I'm actually creating content around the clips I use. It's not like I'm just re-uploading music videos.
I got a copyright claim on *my own music,* disputed the claim, and because RUclips gives all the power to the _alleged copyrights holder,_ it got rejected. Great system, love it!
That sucks. Did it strike because it was a melody used in another song or was it detected as the original song?
Same

You know why guys, you must’ve remixed someone’s music and even though it’s your own it doesn’t count

Finally someone answered the questions that's nowhere on the internet!!! copyright claims that only block viewing in one territory don't affect the rest of the channel! Thanks for you help
Forgot to mention how this is used to silence criticism nowadays
@WZ TechTuber Spamming is against youtube rules, time to delete your channel
Thanks for including the playlist on the end screen! I just wish it also had a video about copyright regarding fonts/typefaces. I'm not surprised that most of the attention gets focused on music copyright because music is so important to making a video and the automated tools make it easier for copyright holders to find matches, but I wonder if it's only a matter of time before they've created automated systems to find copyrighted fonts used in videos as well :\
Artist here!
Got a copyright strike the other day since I had music in the background playing. It was copyright free music but apparently it’s only licensed for twitch livestreams and not RUclips. I got striked for “spam/deceptive practices” which REALLY sucks. I’ve decided to completely leave music out of everything now because I really want to monetize my art.
Really really hoping my monetization isn’t affected by this down the line. It’s frustrating how something like this gets a strike and yet there are THOUSANDS of videos out there of full length movies, tv shows and cartoons that pass by without a problem. Seems SUPER unfair

Thank you so much for this video I had no idea what to do and now I do!
I didn't really know what do to with my copyright videos until I watch this video,Thank you!
One of the issues with some of the "copyright claims" is that there are bot-sniffers that sniff out this data. At least when it comes to music. I can understand why, but to make a claim a human should have control of that, not a bot. Bots can flag. Humans can check, then claim.
My church uploads the services on Sunday (the service is livestreamed on Facebook during the regular-church service time, and then uploaded to RUclips afterwards for those that couldn't watch it live), and A LOT of the hymns are public domain, a lot of the tunes are public domain; the music used when we were not able to meet falls under the license my church has for this content (with some hymns as exceptions, but none of those exceptions have been used); when we were still able to meet in person: the organist is live-playing the music. The videos would still get copyright claims within seconds of the upload being completed and/or processed (I can't remember which). The only way someone could possibly do that is if their sitting there staring at a screen waiting for a "copyright breach." Which leads me to believe that it's not a real person: it is a bot.
Regardless of the copyright claims, my church has a license to use the content (as mentioned above).
It's "hilarious" when the "copyright owner" tries to argue back and say that "they still feel like it's their content." It's also hilarious when they try to claim that a portion of the video is "violating copyright" when there's another portion earlier in the video (or later) that uses that same hymn. It's "hilarious" that they try to make a claim on a hymn that doesn't even go by the name they claim.... It's also "hilarious" that they're trying to claim public domain content in the first place.
Also keep in mind: some of the hymns, tunes, etc. are over 200 years old....
[Side note: I know about these claims because my father is the Pastor, and is the one that is running the RUclips channel for the church, etc.]
I agree, it happens in our church, few videos copyrighted, it was in a church service but it was copyrighted. I didn't remove the video. Well, it's their revenue even though it is for church service purposes only.
It happens in our church too. The same scenario here as well and we use the Hymnal which are more than 200 years old. We are not running it for monetarization? I am not sure whether we have to worry about copyright claim or not
1 question, will copyright claims EVER delete my yt channel? I'm okay with not getting money but I don't want my channel deleted (Not copyright strikes, copyright claims)
@@ehanayaanrocks - From what I understand a copyright claim cannot take someones channel down, but it can result in a copyright strike, depending on the situation.
If you google "What is a copyright claim? youtube" there'll be a link in the search results that goes to what youtube provides as an explanation. I don't think I can share links here without the comment being deleted, otherwise I'd share it here. lol
@@arnoldmmr - It really depends. I suggested to my father to challenge the copyright claims, in the event that the "person"/company making the claim (whether they had an actual proper legal claim to it or not) decided that they wanted to slap an ad on that portion of the video, or some such that would interrupt the service. I'm not entirely sure if they could do that anymore, anyways.
I do remember having a project for university where I put music (that was free to use for certain purposes, such as educational purposes) to the project (it was also PART of the project), and the portion that included the music ended up being copyright claimed, and they slapped an ad on the video. If I remember correctly anyways. lol That was... five? years ago now. It's been a while anyways. lol
one of my friend's friend had 22k subs on their channel and no copyright strikes or claims and their channel was terminated. He tweeted youtube but nothing happended. He is still not sure why his channel was terminated, and he probably lost a lot of revenue too.
Jeez that's like my worst nightmare
bruh that can happen??
Wow. That is terrible! I remember someone saying they keep copies of their uploads in case something like that happens. RUclips can have glitches just like another website. And RUclips isn't always right. Anyone who uploaded on RUclips probably knows this 😆
Sounds like Roblox moderation to me.
My gf got a strike just because she was showing her new sandals. Apparently showing feet is a sin on RUclips. So childish 🙄
so basically if you receive a 3rd strike but a year after the previous 2 strikes it wont result in your channel termintaion ?
Great video! But what if the "copyright owner" doesn't have a copyright for the material that they're claiming? Is it safe to dispute if the "copyrighted" video is in public domain?
TMZ recently copyright claimed a part of my video of the Johnny Depp trial where Kate Moss is giving her testimony. They have absolutely no exclusive rights to any of the trial video but RUclips has decided that that section belongs to them because they also have a video with Kate Moss giving her testimony.
I'm not monetized but I don't want TMZ placing ads and earning revenue from content that they don't own. Is it worth it to dispute a claim? The risk seems pretty high. I doubt RUclips is going to actually verify if TMZ owns the copyright and are probably just going to allow TMZ to remove my video and issue a strike.
Thank you Rob for the video! A helpful summary. Hope in the future the guidelines for fair use will be more defined and reasonable % percent of revenue will be shared with creaters as well if music is used. I've actually discovered a lot music and songs from videos by someone else.
Here's a tip. Upload your videos in private not in public, so you can fix it whenever there's a copyright, and then turn it public afterwards. 😊
That doesn't work. I got a copyright strike on a private video.
Mine was UNLISTED, and got a strike too 😒

I love your content so positive and helpful cheers guys for all you do.
the video doesn't cover case: "Video cannot be monetised. The Content ID claim on your video doesn't affect your channel." When I have the license but have to wait a few days for acceptance, will I get the revenue back for the crucial viral period or will YT it not display any ads?
Omg thank you so much I was panicking but this helped, I subbed!
thank you so much! my father keeps telling me if I get anymore copyright claims that he'll delete my channel. I keep trying to tell him that a claim doesn't really do anything and that it just means that I don't make money off the video, but he won't listen! He even thinks I'm going to get sued. The worst part is, he thinks it'll effect our family as well. I will try to show him this video and hopefully he'll understand.
lol
So that happens in India even you show them this kind videos
Im new to youtube videos, and im also worried that i could get sued, how to I avoid that, would copyright strikes or claims get me sued?
Well did he understand
If under 18 then sure they can sue your parents assets, to include, your home cars gold stocks etc.
Hi and thank you for the video😊 what to do if I don’t see any options to fix a copyright claim such as remove the music or dispute? Is there a timeframe for these options?
I am experiencing the same thing with my first video
Is there no acceptable way to use part of a copyright claimed song over your original content video? If the notice says it doesn't affect your channel and it says "owner allows use on RUclips " does it still affect your ability to get approved for monetization on the rest of your channel? (Assuming you don't care about monetization for that particular video). Sometimes there is a song that perfectly fits the narrative in the content and you don't mind giving up the few bucks you might make.
Outstanding explanation. Thorough, very clear, good visuals with text.
Hunny the Dog approves 👍 Thank you for the information, as a new RUclips creator I've learned a lot of useful information from you to help me grow my channel. Keep up the outstanding work 👏

This copyright claims is great. I just requested to remove a video who literally uploaded my entire video on his channel and RUclips took care of it in a few days. I’m so glad that RUclips cares about creators more.
Yea thats a good thing about youtube
Same I did that too, just they totally made fun of it. But I requested it to be removed and it was. But it still kinda scary to know your channel can just be del3ted if you get 3 copyright strikes.

@DAWN_0001 I have a question. I want to use a copyrighted song for a vid, but old about fair allowances and stuff. Did you get fined or anything? That’s what I’m worried about
that's why I only use youtube audio library for background music. don't trust those channels that says free music.
This is very informative but my question is: ok, so if I have received a copyright strike and I don't dispute it, the strike should automatically expire after 90 days if I "don't do anything bad". But after the 90-day period has passed and the strike has expired, if by any chance I get another copyright strike later on, will the previously expired strike still count? Otherwise put, is a RUclips channel terminated if it gets 3 copyright strikes during 90 days, OR if it has got a total of 3 copyright strikes throughout its entire life (whether those strikes are currently active or not)?
Phew i got a copyright claim and thought i had to pay money . Idc if he puts ads or even takes it down . This really made me realived . Thank you
I feel like deleting the offending video shouldn't be held against you, especially if the whole reason you deleted it was to go back and solve the issue of why it got struck in the first place. That's like punishing me spilling milk on the table even though I took accountability for it and cleaned the mess and the chairs, just to be on my folks' good side.
I agree. If a punishment would happen, it should be a very small one then. Instead of a copyright strike if you delete the offending video.
I deleted 2 videos of copyright ,without knowing i was copying someone.

the angry things is when you upload a copyright music, it green mark and also it upload by other people a long time, however after few month, it studently copyright strike. Yeah cause I used a audio but asked the owner for permission idk why somebody copyrighted claimed me
Gotta love that I can't make song covers, from scratch, with every sound coming from my mouth or my instrument, (in all cases but one,) without also getting claimed
Some labels are fine with use of the melody if its for covers. Others not so much. :P
Thank you so much! I was so worried 😅
I left the loops pack and now use my own packs that I made. Thanks for the functionl video
I did get a claim once using one of my own songs. My music distributor doing a decent job haha! Now I only write exclusive stuff for my videos to avoid any issues.
What Distributor is that ?? Looking for something that Protects your music unlike Distrokid
I've received copyright claims on MUCH older videos on my other channel, but that's because I never wanted to monetise those videos, no matter how well they did, and right now I still can't monetise them cos I'm not in the YPP yet. Those videos did well in the early days but now no one watches them at all. Fun fact: even if you have *EXPRESS PERMISSION* from the copyright holder to use music in a video, there's no guarantee that the video won't have a claim against it due to the "sophisticated" content ID system. I've been down this path before, I know where it leads.
This was very helpful. Thank you!
What happened to ur vids bro ? Did it get deleted ? Im also new to these stuffs, im glad i get the chance to learn these stuffs.
@@GagaTheArcher the videos are fine, they're still on the channel but ineligible for earnings if I'm in the YPP. youtube's way of identifying older audio content on all my previous vids, frankly, should be exempt from their audio recognition system. if it gets through the first time, then I don't believe anyone should be retroactively punished henceforth.
Interesting- thank you. I have this channel that I make trash edits on for fun- idc if they get copyright claimed. It’s all for fun in the end.
I have received a copy right claim for one of my lastest videos basically I mess around with my friends on rec room, and I wasn't sure if it was something really bad to where I had to take the video/live stream down, thank you for the information!
i am a small channel. mostly family videos formed my channel. i started uploading re-edited 80's music vids and such, then got copyrighted. eventually, they were unblocked, but this year i made a passion project for the Film The Warriors 1979. i edited clips with voice overs to explain parts of the movie. It got Copyrighted. then they lifted it, then they reblocked and threatened to strike me. i argued fair use and cited 50 Other videos on the film but to no avail. i have three days left to delete it. I know i didn't make the movie and have no rights to it, but im unmonitized, and it's just a tribute video of sorts. its 46 minutes long. What Should i have done to keep my video up?
jeez. i feel bad for you. youtube is full to the brim with assholes nowadays!
Thank you very much for these helpful pieces of information. My question is Would a copyright claim now possibly become a strike later? Because as you said, the copyright claim is a fully automated process so it will often happen before the original owner requests a strike, won't it?
I once has a copywrite claim made against me from a youtuber in an unknown country speaking a foreign language. Until recieveing the claim, I'd never heard of or seen them before. I simply replied to the claim and stated that not only did we both have clearly visible webcam on screen, and even our gameplay were both in completely different languages it was clearly impossible I'd copied his video just because I'd played the same game he had. It was removed within hours.
I got a claim on nightcore too

Amazing content! One question: if the owner of the rights decide to track the video viewership stats i am not going to be able to continue monetizating the video ? Thanks !
I received a copyright strike because someone said I used the same name as their viral video. It was only about the title not the content. Can they do that?
What about music promotion channels like mine??? As you said for each 50 Copyright Claim there is a strike but I'v never received one.
I have a question do you still get Monetize like me I make slowed and reverb music
Thank you for this it help a lot
Thank you, this is helpful. I'm still wondering if once a strike expires, the creator can apply for monetization. On my channel I point out the flaws and false teachings of a particular group, and they decided to put a strike on one of my videos. It was just my commentary on one of their videos on their own website, not YT, and I included screen shots. Not even actual video footage. So, it's well within fair use. But YT doesn't seem to provide any kind of mediation to allow this dispute to be resolved. I also think the person who launched the claim probably did it to try and get my personal information, which YT can send to them if I decide to dispute it.
This helps me a lot with copyright claims, thank you!
But, I have a question.
What if we’ve already credited the producer of the audio recording in the description of our video, yet we still get copyright claimed? Is that a glitch? Does it affect it further or something? Will the producer still press charges, even if they see that it’s already credited? I’m confused 😅

Thanks! Lots of great info! I have a couple questions. 1. How are there literally hundreds of thousands of RUclips videos with famous, copyrighted songs uploaded? They are all just copyright claims and they get no ad revenue? 2. If I get a copyright strike on ONE of my channels, does it, or can it, cause a DIFFERENT channel I have on the same account to be demonetized? 3. If a single video cannot be monetized due to copyright claim, can other videos on the same channel still earn me money? Thanks!
I wonder about your first question!! I don’t understand. I literally watch RUclipsrs who add tiktoks in their videos but don’t get copyrighted?
Hello I wanted to ask what to do if I do anime videos because ofc I use twixor from like for example Ringwitdahoodie or someone like that and I pretty often get copyright claim so what I would like to know how I can avoid getting copyright claim because I do my own videos and only use the twixors
Thanks at first I didn't know what it meant but now I know so thanks😁
It says In the channel membership and the monetization requirements that you can’t have a significant amount of ineligible videos... which are what copyright claims do... but do you know how many videos can’t be ineligible??
There should be no automatic claims at all. Looking at the list of possible copyright infringing videos, most of them are probably not doing anything wrong as far as I now. Probably all of them. If you were an evil guy, you could claim Leonhart's video because he was talking to you and has your logo in the livestream. RUclips considers that a 100% violation for some reason. I can't find that livestream on your channel, so I don't get how that's considered a 100% copyright violation. We all know that video is fine, but if you had automated claims going on, you'd have falsely claimed him and many other videos too. Do you know what the false claim rate is? Based on that list, it must be pretty high. The benefit of the doubt is definitely not on the RUclipsrs' side.
How do you know if a sound is copyright or not?
I have gotten a copyright claim but when I go to the RUclips studio and it says that copyright Protected content found but I am confused on what to do
8:03 I've been doing research on how copyright violation works on RUclips, but this is the first time I've heard this 50 claims rule, and now I'm confused.
So if I create 50 videos that have copyright claims on them (ex: anime videos), I get a strike, right?
That part is totally understandable, but my real question is that if I wait for 90 days for the strike to expire, can I continue on making 50 more copyright claimed videos, wait 90 more days for the strike to expire, and repeat the process? If this 50 claims rule is automatic, then it means a bot made the strike instead of the actual copyright holders, so that means the copyright holders don't know that I even got a strike?
He meant like for every 50 people that get a copyright claim there is one person that gets a copyright strike (i think)
I’m scared now.
@@mitchellhermann3128

a claimant can file up to 50 video takedown claims per request. If the request is permitted, the videos will be removed and the uploader will receive a strike.

I need some help. In my HeadSpace song The music I made I used sounds from a pack from bandlab and it's been copyright claimed by Lullaby Salmaan who does have the same sounds but it's not exactly the same as his song. How does that work? If we use the same sounds from a free pack we can make from scratch is it really copyright if it's just a little bit similar for a few seconds
We see so many videos using parts of TV or other large media recorded piece, with watermarks and text and yet they are able to keep them. Given that they didn't get permission, is doing a certain amount of edits enough to remove risks of copyright claims... If so, what is required related to editing existing video so you do not get a copyright claim or a strike?

@@Outtathedepthsyeah but not if it’s copyright striked
@@mariatheegg4616Thank you I really needed that and especially how I got Copyright claim :( and so I delete it so that was the right thing to do right?
@@My_Sweet_Tea hi this is my second acc btw, deleting it is an option but there’s always a chance the claim was only there because of the audio of the video so you could try removing that. Copyright claims only stop you from making money with the video so if you’re not interested in making money you don’t exactly have to delete the video
I'd like to ask for advice. You see my channel is gaming, and i have one video that has a copyrights claim. In a certain game there is a character that has a voice line. And there is a creator here on RUclips who used the first 20 or so seconds of that voice line in their music video. The voice line isn't very long. However i have received a copyrights claim because of that. So my question now is what should i do? Do i just silence the audio in that particaular part of my video OR do i go ahead and dispute (and under what does this particular situation fall to? Is it Original content, License, Fair use or Public domain)?
Nice info...never knew this...but now i know
Thank You for explaining this in easily understood terms, I’ve received 1 copyright claim 😩
Me too what do you do about it because rove got one now and it's my first so im not sure what I do about it
I laughed so hard with Darth. Loveeeeeee you Rob.❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏 yes I did.
How come all my videos have copyright claimed?? Also lots of my videos have the warning this next to them but idk why for some of them.
thanks, i panicked the moment i saw the words "copyright claim" under one of my videos and this video helped me to understand why those words appeared, thanks man
Strikes: warning (NOT OVER 50)
I'd claims: Used to be a TON (I removed most of them)
My friend got a copyright strike for no reason ... The person who was the reason for the strike have multiple comments on his videos that he is simply striking for no reason ...😒😒😟
Yeah , it's me☹️.
@@sarangkrish4815 yeah...@VidiQ .. This is my friend 🙏🙏🙏
Does this apply to members only videos too?
Hi Rob, I have recently applied and was accepted into the RUclips partnership program even though I have copyright claims on most of my videos. I initially used free music from the Clipchamp editing program. Since then I have been editing on DaVinci Resolve. I have still used the same music as my theme song and background music for over 100 videos. Even though it said copyright on my channel it also said that the owner allowed it to be used. I am now learning that the rights owner of my music is now monetizing and also because I am not using Clipchamp anymore I don’t have the rights to the music either. I am in the process of trimming and muting all of my videos which has been a tedious process. As a new RUclipsr I am disappointed in myself that I didn’t understand the details of how this works. Thanks so much for this video. I am sad that I have to change my theme music for my channel. 😥
Thank you for a clear, concise review of this important subject. I am a retired IP attorney (patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets) and recommend your video to anyone uploading content.
It’s such a confusing thing sometimes and you get copyright claims over random stuff sometimes
Yeah I don't really like this platform much now
@@MrPink-cn5rr yeah I think I’ll stop uploading as often
@@bluegoatfanclickyes1825 well the content looks quite interesting
My channel has a strick because of celebrity wallpaper on desktop screen and lot of my track has copyright claims which I record and produced why. . My channel hasn't not be monitorized yet this means what's ?
If the music comes from the video where there is a speaker, would it be a copyright?
How to seo playlist 🤔
I was very confused when I got a copyright claim, because that video had an audio that is very popular and a lot of people use. This has happened a lot of times, and I was scared so I deleted the video. (I'm not professional in any way and I just upload edits) but when I got one this time, I decided to look into it. I got a lot of different information, but I didn't know which one to believe. So, can I keep my copyright claimed video up and my channel will be perfectly fine?
Claims don't negatively affect you unless you have 50 or more. (For every 50 claims, 1 strike is issued). And check to make sure you're using copyright free music.
@@BabyYeno thank you
Mine says No impact copyright claim. Will i be able to collect from monetization?
I got 3 claims on one video and they're in the dispute process now, but I just realized is they all come back with a strike that's the end of my channel....
can I just delete the video before the dispute process is finished to prevent the strikes? Or is it too late once the dispute is in process?
Who else is a big fan of vidiq?
Great video, thank you for the information. I’m a musician so have videos with ‘Copyright Claims’ but they are copyrights I own.
How does it work if you get a copyright claim when you’ve used audio samples available in Capcut? I thought the audio on their app would be rights free
Then what about making edits, is that also not allowed in Copyright Claim?
Thank you for info!
