- There's no substitute for climbing into the cab of a brand new truck, taking the driver seat, sliding your hand across the wheel and taking it for a drive. Hopefully, this video is the next best thing. At a pre-launch event, the Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) team gave me the chance to get behind the wheel of the newly launched Western Star 57X, the brand's on-highway offering. Powered by a Detroit pedigree, the new truck was designed from the ground up, and it shows. New cab, new driver displays, new safety system offerings, new everything.
Check out the video above for a product walk around, technology driven test drive and a demonstration of a few of the new safety features Авто/Мото
Most people don't get what this is,it's a State to State highway truck, developed in a wind tunnel. Biggest selling point is the Detriot Diesel engine, which is one of the most economical engines currently available, which, to the sensible, along with the aerodynamics, is the most important thing in Biden-land,given the huge increase in fuel prices....dreamers can stick to trucks with the aero of a brick, that belong in the early 1970's! Certainly a good challenge to Paccar!
Yeah exactly. It’s not meant to be time machine that is recreating 1970. This is a 2023 Highway truck that is meant to solve 2023 problems. It may be based on a freightliner but it does have some “toughness” that western star is known for. Take the heated headlight and crack resistant windshield for example.
Cascadia 2.0! Just live up to it, guys.
Really cool and safe truck.
I like this truck
Exceptional Desing...Outstanding Technical details...Excellent Workmanship...In a word, "EXTRAORDINARY" ... Congratulations...Thanks...Maybe a miracle will happen and I can come to your, Beautiful country and buy a " Western Star".......... I wish you days full of Health, Happines and Wealth....👍 ❤️ ... ya if the price will be around 140k for brand new i will buy
Spec for spec, I wonder what the cost difference is between this and a FreightShaker.
Once I realized how many times he said “uhh” it became the only thing I could hear.
Lol
Would look sharper with a chrome bumper.
Nice fail guys, you had a chance to knock this out of the park and screwed it up by not changing the roof design and it just looks like a cascadia with a western star hood.
This makes it cheaper in production and thus more attractive for customers
@@user-kv1zj2mf9d you got the cheap part right.
Those digital monitors are an Achilles heel! Same (optional) setup in the new cascadias.
western star was always a great truck now since Freightliner took over its really f-up everything looks like a Freightliner needs to get some owner operators and get some option that they like thats what western star was built on
Western star is my favorite truck I wish I could afford it I will definitely buy one for myself that's my goal my dream truck every day i look at this truck hope and pray god could work a miracle if i should choose a house are a Western Star i would definitely choose a Western Star truck 57x are 49x 🤔🤔🤔
Can you get all this safety things on the 49x?
Don't see why not..
The 49X sports: Side Guard Assist (SGA), Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA5), Tailgate Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to 0 MPH, Lane Departure Warning, Video Capture, Intelligent High-Beam and Automatic Wipers and Headlamps. Nearly everything accept lane-keep assist. I don't know if it has the automatic emergency stopping feature that was demonstrated. Was the first time I have seen that.
57X is down shifting for western star brand. Truck drivers loved classic style and don’t deserve treatment like this. Don’t get me wrong, cascadia nice truck for companies, gives good MPG and pretty reliable for most shop repairs…but it’s not compare to previous models that western star had before.
This looks like 3rd generation cascadia lol
WOW THE DEAD OF WESTERN STAR AND RENAME OF CASCADIA
Why? Why even bother making another cascadia
Reuse shell lower costand make people think is a redesign truck
Just another jelly bean truck ...to bad they didn't keep the same front bumper and grill styling from the 5700xe ...this thing just looks like a freigtshaker
Man freightliner cascadia is one of the most reliable in the business. Seen plenty of other trucks on the side of the road with the hoods up on my many trips over MT Hood this summer. Don't recall seeing a Western star or a Cascadia. 🤔
Yes it is aerodynamic. So what? Have you seen the price of diesel? Some people are trucking to make a living not because they like sitting in a chromed out brick.
That’s annoying
airbag lean?
Nahhh!!!! You've gone away from what a western star is!, doesn't sound like a truck, doesn't look like a truck and it definitely doesn't look like it has the capability of a truck, might as well be driving a car, good thing its in America, you keep your plastic fantastic what YOU!!!! Call a truck over there in the States and well keep doing what we do best over here in Australia DRIVE REAL TRUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!,
But Australia doesnt count for the rest of the World.
Unfortunately times change and truck manufacturers have to adjust. Otherwise one day we will see only Tesla Semis on the streets and REAL TRUCKS can only be found in a museum.
Where the Australian trucks from? Kenworth, Freightliner, Western Star etc.
You still drive american trucks , but on the wrong side of the road!
Might as well buy a boring bland ass freightliner if you want this type of truck. I know these aerodynamic trucks are more fuel efficient but they all look bland as hell and have no uniqueness. I’d rather spend more money in fuel for a Kenworth or Peter built and have some kind of uniqueness and style to it
