I am inconsistently able to turn my computer on. It seems as though I can only do so if the app is open on my android phone... That really defeats the purpose of using my voice to start up my computer... Shutting it down however works without any flaws. Any ideas on how to get around the start up issue?
These steps are not at all required now. Just need Hassio running in PI, wake on lan entry in configuration.yaml and RPC shutdown addon from addonstore.
Pc turn off properly but turn on is not working

Thank you, probably one of the best and most detailed tech tutorials I've seen
Fantastic! Even though the process is complicated you explain it in a way that is approachable even for those of us who are not exactly fluent in this area. I haven't been able to make my PC turn on yet but I bet the fault is mine.
EDIT: I had to turn on Wake On Lan in BIOS.
Exceedingly high quality video, good job
Wow. Awesome! Congrats!!
I liked this feature so much.
Great video ! Prefect Tutorial. I loved the way you explained everything with a calm voice and slow speed. Worked for me ! :D
It's unbelievable how many steps are needed!
Yep
This is badass. Super helpful!
Awesome! Subscribed. Please keep up the GREAT work!!!
Saw the video, followed the tutorial in the link, worked in the first trial like a charm!
Your videos are amazing man , you are the only channel on RUclips with real usefull content about the google home , i just bought one recently and i am loving to learn about it trough yout channel. Keep up with the good work !
Thank you for the kind words. They are really appreciated. If you have any suggestions for future tutorials, let me know.
@@JuanMTech hey i tried but am not getting any push to my Chrome any help please
This guy speaks so clearly and explained so clearly thanks man ❤
very informative! will try this soon!
You made this real easy to follow. It's exactly what I was looking for. Going to try it this weekend. Thank you.
That's pretty cool
Gotta try this! Seems cool 😍
Thanks dude... My laptop is fully connected with my Google Home now. I managed to make also a scenario to lock my computer. Very useful step-by-step configuration.
JD
Thanks! I will give it a try ;-)
any luck?
Thank you for the video, Juan. I appreciate all the third party apps, but I was able to accomplish the same functionality using the HA shell_command service, issuing the shutdown command to the PC by way of SSH with key authorization, and WOL issued from the RPi host itself. No involving any third party apps except Google. BTW thanks for all the help from your videos !
How did you connect google command straight to RPi host?
Any tutorial?
Works great thanks alot for the guide!
Great video!
There are a lot of gaps in this tutorial that people in the comments have had to fill in. It sure would be nice if you updated the tutorial with these key steps so people don't have to dig through the comments.
True that! I m still diging !
exactly ! so annoying!
How do you guys add PC to the Join?
@@benjaminnguyen592 same question
Hi Juan, I've used this setup for years and it has worked great! Thanks so much. Unfortunately there will be some changes to how IFTT works with Google assistant V2 from August 31... I haven't quite figured out how to get this to work with V2. Do you have any ideas? Kind regards :)
I have also noticed this, he should create an updated video
works great, thank you!
Great video, very clear and easy to follow explanation.
Really quick setup (once worked out the missing AutoRemote piece of the puzzle)
Question though... I find that the Wake on Lan app stops triggering after a while, unless I have the app open on my screen and THEN say the voice command. Any thoughts on how to solve this?
I can see in the join logs that it sends the pc_on text
and also the tasker log shows that join received pc_on, and the start task service appears followed by wake on Lan action but my computer doesn't turn on unless I have the Wake on lan app active and on my screen at the same time. Note: the logs appear the same regardless
Same problem with mine. Does anybody have a fix for this? Thanks!
Which WOL app u have on mobile if its by Mike Webb then u shouldn't be having any problem also if u have set the Tasker profile for pc on correctly My suggestion would be first test the WOL app by mike webb to wake up ur pc if it does then del ur current profile for PCPower and recreate it as mentioned Lastly ur ifttt acc and join acc should be registered with same google assistant email account (this is my opinion for everything to work flawlessly) Create the Tasker profile exactly as Juan shows it
One more thing What do u mean wake on lan app has to be active u add it in plugin pl follow the written guides in description . Three apps should be in ur mobile Tasker Join and Autoremote with Autoremote plugin properly configured and ur device registered
@@predator2392 tasker need to pay wth
Attention: to get the Eventghost autoremote:pc_off message,, after installing the autoremote python plugin for eventghost, you set up a port number in it (default is 1818). Then you also need to set the same number in the join extension settings/advanced/EventGhost, Node-RED/port-number to redirect there. (For this particular pc_off message, you do not need to add any autoremote device in eventghost config)
Thank You this is the best one and needs to be pinned
Where can i set up the port number in EVENT GHOST PLEASE?

could you make it work? i have the same problem :/
Hey juan i dont use Ethernet... is there a work around?

Nope.
Did you check the box to allow your wireless adapter to wake the computer under power management in device manager?
@@aaronh920 can you do that

This will help a lot if I can wake up my pc over the internet. Works fine with my home network. Thanks.
For this you need to setup portforwarding on your router Teamviewer installed on your pc and mobile or Wake on Wan app with portforwarding setup on your router
A-MAZING!
The event ghost command doesn't show up when I submit it though join. Help?

Same unfortunately

Do you have an alternative for the Tasker. Something free? And how did you set it up? Please.... I saw a few tutorials how to turn on and off my PC with Google Home, but I always come across a paid app version.
its not showing up on eventghost

@Viiper [GER] thanks, now it works, but only if chrome web browser is active... Can you tell me why?
@Viiper [GER] thanks for your ultra quick answer, no I haven't any join program. Can I download a join program for windows? Where can I find it?
really confusing. Why u omit the adding of autoremote in the video. Also in the link its saying about android not a PC and is asking for URL which I dont have
Add automanager in mobile and dome as mentioned in the link. But the pc off command is not coming in log
I'm having a similar issue. I'm getting a bunch of errors in my log when sending from Chrome to EventGhost. Did you have any luck on your side? If so, what did you do?
You need to install AutoRemote app in ur mobile where u will find personal url

Hi Juan! Really good tutorial here! I'm just quite lost how I can add my pc to Join. Thanks in advance!
You need to install join chrome extension on your chrome browser just search for join chrome extension and add it also join app on ur mobile also Two paid apps Tasker & Autoremote on ur mobile eventghost installed in ur pc to get this whole process work
Thank you
I was hoping this was free but Tasker isn't free
Join is not free either, but you may find lots of different tools from both if you want to automatize things.
I need to make my wife shut up by using my PC.
Please help.
Would there be any solution to turn on/off monitor? I feel there could be a way to use an actuator that would physically press the touch on/off button on dell monitors and connect to IFTTT somehow.
Hi Juan, will this work for a laptop using only wireless connection ? I don't have a network cable. Will this work if the laptop is suspended or only when it is powered down? Thanks!
Sorry if I missed it in the video, but does the computer have to be connected to the network via LAN or does WIFI/WLAN also work?
Thank a lot !!!!!!!
Great vid, can you do one on how to make the PC sleep and wake up via assistant?
Nice! How do I get Google Assistant to put my laptop in sleep mode? I'd love to learn how to do that.
This method wakes up the pc from sleeping/hibernate mode or does it actually power it on while it was COMPLITELY off?
Will it work if my mobile phone is not in on the wifi of the network my computer is in? I mean, if I am (with my mobile phone) away from home and want to turn on the PC remotely, how the wake on LAN would be broadcasted to my network?
Working with a wifi repeater and a lan cabke? So that the wifi repeater and the PC are connected with a LAN cable?
Question. Can this be utilized with other google commands in the same room? I have a command for my hue lights as well as my other devices individually but if I say 'hey google shut down the office" it shuts down the entire room. I'm guessing I can add this command easily to the process?
Can u please unpack what is the link that makes computer on. All I know is that you can command PC while it is because when it is off wifi/BT doesn’t work. Please explain the tech is interesting.
does this method require pc being connected to the internet via lan cabel only? i wonder if there is method for turning on/off remotely without lan cabel and without dependency on the wi-fi network?
Hey i want to do this, but i don't have tasker. So what is another option i can use for this.
Is there another alternative app for tasker?
Couple of questions:
Will this only work if ur connected by an ethernet? I have an iphone can i still do this? Im planning to buy a google assistant is this sufficient for this command?
Nice tutorial, with this method do you need to log into windows? I saw other ways disabling any password but i don't like the idea
No you can set ur windows to autologon with the password u have setup anyway this method is for waking up ur pc and shutting it down thru Google assistant
Wonder if I can use this tutorial to open and close my curtains, I can't link my curtain app into Google home
Would there be a way to use automate instead of tasker for this?
Hi, does the methode still work ? I've heard that google have change the API and also that Windows no longer wake up on lan an pc if there is actually Shut Down ( Like not put in sleep)
Would it be possible to make this action part of a routine ?
do i need to own a google home or mini to do this or can i just use google from my phone ?
Hi, do I have to be in the same network(local)? Can I use the same method to power it on remotely with a different segment of network?
Powering on Remotely Not possible through this process but Powering off Can be done
how does turn off work? Does it hard shut off or like can you set it to just sleep, and what if the comp runs into a program thats still running when its shutting off?
Awesome video, just too many steps for me. I'll just push that button. 🤣
Hey, do you know how to remotely switch on a computer from another computer or smartphone that isn't connected to the same WiFi? Is this possible? Thanks, Adam
what method should the webhook for turning off the computer be set for?
cool bro
+JuanMTech I dont see AutoRemote.Message. u’=:=pc_off’ when i send the command from chrome. I realised i didnt have autoremote and after installing it into the correct folder I can't see the plugin in the list when adding it. What should i do??
If u have properly set up the AutoRemote plugin Go to Eventghost Click Configuration then add plugins Scroll down to section called Others Here you will see AutoRemote (you have to register ur device for which u will need device personal url that u will get by Installing AutoRemote app on ur device) As for pc_off not appearing on Eventghost Go to Join chrome extension settings on your chrome browser Click options go to advanced Scroll down to Port section ie redirect command to eventghost or Node red Enter 1818 in the port Now send Join tasker command pc_off it will show in the Left pane of Eventghost
hey sir, tried to follow your instruction, but the only thing did work out is the eventghost, i don't see the command that i sent to join extension on eventghost log to drag it. am i missing something? please advise
i figured it out to power off the pc via google assistant but i cannot turn it on, tried to enabled your suggestion on device manager. please help only the turn on pc command is not working

Hey Juan, that's a greate tutorial video! I'll recommend to all all my friends! I have a quick question, Wake on LAN its not working here, is there any particular trick? thank you so much! Great job!
In the video description there is a link to an article in my website with some troubleshooting steps towards the end of the article.
Just noticed your comment. I wrote this earlier, hope this helps! "When i allow my PC to stay shut off for an extended period of time, i noticed the wake up command wouldnt work. after some troubleshooting i discovered its because the Wake on LAN application needs to be open on my phone before the command can go through. The solution is simple. Go into Tasker and "clone" your pcpower task by long pressing the task and selecting "Clone". Then, start a "New Task" and select "Launch App". Choose the Wake on Lan app and save the task. This should run at the same time as your pcpower task and should open the application before fully running the pcpower task. If not, you could try adding a slight delay to the pcpower task."
Is it possible a tutorial in spanish? Thanks Juan!!
