Videos like this really demonstrate why home owners need an electrician. A lot of videos just show you how to do a job but your videos show the real life wider issues and what really goes into a job. I always say, do it right do it once. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jon
In different difficulty times it nice to see people helping each other. That good Will has put a smile on my face never mind James. Thanks 👍
Thanks Gary
It's great to be busy, the opposite is too scary! Nice touch with the bits and encouragement for James, got to give the new guys a leg up - he'll learn well from you how to be tidy and conscientious.
Fair play to you for buying james those screwdrivers nice touch.
Build up the tool kit
@@Cjrelectrical exactly tools aren't cheap though so every bit helps.
Looking great . Excellent work and thanks for the content stay safe and take care
Thanks
@@Cjrelectrical No problem 👍
I fitted knightsbridge flat plate brushed steel like what you've got here, within less than a year the lacquer used on the fittings was wearing off on every light switch and the sockets scratch really easily when plugging things in. Look really good when fitted but they don't hold up the test of time.
Cheers il let the client know to keep an eye out
Dont say that, I’ve just done a house rewire and put Knightsbridge in everywhere!
Hi, Its always worth leaving the protective film on metal fittings to stop them getting scratched.
Let the client take it off when they are ready to. That way you will be in the clear if any scratches
appear. Nice video as always guys.
Off cut of armoured cable strand, bend 90° and cut to size of light, stick it up and spinning around to check clear :)
Il get it a go cheers
Chris and James are gonna be the new Adam and Nick 🤣🤣 great video bud
Nick and Adam are definitely unique 👍
Fair play on that paint touch up! I didn’t think you’d pull that one back after seeing it at the beginning.
Luckily the chippy messed up the fixings 2 days later so the lot go replaced
@@Cjrelectrical you should have bought a lottery ticket that evening! Haha
Another quality video Chris, keep um coming mate!!👌🏻
Cheers Reece
Another great video as always, thanks for sharing 👍
Always great quality work from you Chris. Prime candidate to fit some of those sky hooks.
As standard for me i come 800mm of of the back wall to pass any wall cupboards
15:17 he was ready for the camera this time 😆😆😆
15:20 It's always nice when a Minion has a Boss that cares about them...
Cheers 👍
Love watching your videos Chris.... It may make me ' a sad git' because I face the same crap as you lol, but it makes me feel less isolated.. knowing that other people's life doesn't go as planned either
Also.. centre, not center. We're not yanks
1:23 James definitely looks sleepy 😆😆😆
He doesn’t drink coffee either
20:26 it's like "whack-a-mole" 😆😆😆
Very impressed with the scratch removal
Good to see you giving james the nessesary experiance i am sure he will do well in his carear
Yeah cheers
I do enjoy the ingenious ways you get your socks into the vids
Nice selection 👌🏻
😂 ur accent kills me. noyce, loyts, Aled
Tip: if you match one quinetic switch to more than one receiver... explain to the customer how they work... explain that if the 2 items get out of sync (it happens) all they have to do is turn off the breaker, wait 10 seconds, turn back on.... It saves callouts :)..
Speaking from 'omfg' experience
Will do
Pleased to hear and see that you are busy - in fact super busy!
Run ragged at the moment
Thanks Chris and James
Good video 👍tell james to use steps or hop up , I'm 6ft1 and always just reached up rather than a step up and now I'm 56 and neck muscles are uggered and can't do anything operation wise , tell him an old plastic milk crate is perfect 👍
6ft 1 is that all 🤣 only joking il pass on the message
Hey Chris I’m surprised you are allowed to install a batten type fitting in the loft still reachable from the landing because in Australia it has to be above 2400mm as without a lamp it can allow people to insert their fingers and have access to live parts. In Australia we have to make it “stupid proof”
1800mm
New ones are 'safety' as in when a lamp is not inserted then you still have to push the pins in to make them live and by that point you deserve a belt lol
lol surprising thing im lrning it is a hell of a lot of fun to watch my favorite sparks at 2X speed
Il give that a go
Nyc Job .keep it safe
Good idea using a long driver to check for joists. I have always drilled a few small holes but your method is better. I wouldn’t fit Luceco Downlights, their stuff doesn’t tend to last
Been fitting them for 4 years now with no call backs yet 🤷🏻♂️
@@Cjrelectrical yeah fitted loads my self, had one fail. But I did drop it of the too of my steps.
Have started moving to V50 , as have advantage of shallow and cct control. However the lucceco do look better and more flush fit to ceiling
Nice job and video
Fluorescent fittings. Lid never comes off when you want. Never holds on the screws going on
Like the fact that they haven't bothered to hoover up the dead wasps before you showed up...
Be interesting to see how the sockets look on that stone wall.
Not to bad tbh
One of my pet hates is cutting out lights after plaster, I religiously cut them out pre plaster, works for me anyways.
Yeah I did start to do this but the plasterers moan so much
Sod em, if they cleaned my boxes out I mite be a bit more sympathetic
Great channel, could you do something on what you would suggest to use for an outdoor LED flood light, the general consensus is they only last about a year? Keep up the good work.
You would be correct definitely go for quality over cheap within a year you will be replacing it
@@Cjrelectrical I have to disagree, I installed a cheep LED flood light from energiser 4 years ago, £14 from Wilco and it’s as bright now as it was when I installed it and still going strong , cheep isn’t always bad . I say if you do buy cheep then always buy recognised brands , not the unbranded stuff on market stalls or from those crap shopping channels .
Fantastic video Chris as always 👍👍👍❤️
A blind man would be pleased to see it 😂👍
Which part 🤣
@@Cjrelectrical search on the cupboard,good job 😂
It wouldn’t stop a galloping horse
top boss
Cheers Andrew
Haha you called it on the Celotex 🙈
8:57 He will learn to use the steps as he gets older. That is one of the mistaked apprentices make when starting out, not getting in the best ergonomic spot for their shoulders.
I am an apprentice, and I allways try to get as high to the ceiling I can without bending my back very badly.
And I am quite tall my self. 192cm tall.
Why would you put a smokie in the kitchen? Hope its a heat alarm instead.
Right nice job ya done there 👍
Cheers Chris
Nice intro 💯
Nicely done. With the vaulted ceiling and the PIR insulation how do you fit the spots? Or is it battened off the PIR to give a bit of a void? Some building inspectors don’t like them in the celotex. Also is the cable just run along the rafters with the celotex tight against it or above the celotex in the air gap? Cheers.
Normally the builder leaves some cut outs but not on this occasion. This ceiling was luckily battened over and plasterboard on top so I had a nice clear run to wire in.
Fabulous kitchen
Looks even better now with the worktops fitted
@@Cjrelectricalbet they're granite.
Hi mate make video of internal wall wiring between 2 wooden studs
Old cottage not sand and cement, lime and sand 😀
Mate,5 secs in I thought you knob !!!!!
Nice one 🥱
Like the spd board, but the question i would like to ask at what point does it warrant a plastic fuse board to be changed to metal 🤔
Understairs only escape route with no other fire protection plus other issues
Good video, horrible late nights though. What's rainbow spaghetti? Cheers
Hi Rupert
Rainbow spaghetti is different coloured network cables
Imagine a unicorn's mane. But instead of hair or whatever a unicorn's mane is made from (candy?), it's network cables.
Could you wire the loft light to a light switch or is it better to do it on its own feed?
I am Indian ELECTRATION for very experience at home lighting fitting
What did you do to make space above the downlights in the 5k job? Did you cut out the celotex above.the holes?
Nests are just carbage gimmicks that dont actually provide any functionality over normal stuff. Also if the internet is down no power here.
Would like to see a nest instal
Il try get the nest one on film
bizarre to see switch lights in the toilet.
I generally mount them outside but took this one over from another spark
best way to mark positions on plasterboard it to use a crayon, paint won't cover it.
But plaster does
Why do british wall plates all look so boring and retro.. fat pots sticking out of the plate like a 1930's radio. I kinda like the look of the tiny switches, although I expect them to be rather fiddly compared to the bigger switch plates we use on the mainland, especially in the night.. but the dimmer pots always irritate my sense of design.
(brushed aluminium.. well.. looks nice, but I guess those will collect fingerprints and scratches in no time..)
Check out the varilight touch master dimmer switches.
Hey Chris, Have you ever had any callbacks due to those luceco’s failing ? How come you choose to fit the built in led type rather than standard fireproof GU10 downlight ? ( pro’s vs con’s )
I’ve only fitted GU10 downlights in my own home as I like that the lamp is easily replaceable.
No never had any call backs on the integrated yet.
The light output always seems far superior to the gu10 lamps I’ve tried
@@Cjrelectrical I think they cast a better/brighter and more even light due to the better diffuser
Hiii...I am Tushar Parmar from India
I understand why you can't shoot video at/in a Hospital (Patient confidentiality and the avoidance of Lawsuits), but will they allow you to take still photo's (without audio of course) as long as the pics only show a close up of what you installed and doesn't show Staff, Patients or Visitors?
Painters are the same for having music blasting out, Think it’s because they don’t have to think while they work
Ahh yes painters love the radio
Put headphones on!
Hi mate Cant you put a chrome plated fasicia plate around that 2 gang. to hide the scratch
Luckily the chippy messed up and all the fixings popped so it got replaced anyway
Nice kitchen job! Them ck screwdrivers are the worst!! Don’t be tight get him some decent ones 😅
Better than nothing Martin
I’ve had them for 5 years no trouble, stop your whining
@@pyrrhical3423 id say there standards have got worse in that time then. The terminal drivers twist far to easy. And the pozi’s break
Wow.. !!!!! How tall is James..?????
5 core cable is the grey and black live or neutral?
Was that shoddy camera work towards me :) from my last comment xD
More than likely 🤷🏻♂️
Truly Glamorous life of an Electrician
Liking you both rocking the penny washers! Remember if things get tight, drill the penny's before Knockout from galv box's :)
James should be given the Minion name of Stretch because he's so tall compared to Chris.
Il see what he thinks
I think about Debian "Stretch" when i see the word "stretch". See my URL and you'll get why.
try PLASTERSPOT
James will get his revenge one day 'cos he's bigger than you. His time will come! 😇
Will shall see 👍

I think they call it Romex in us. Same thing I think
How you gonna screw the faceplates back in that kitchen
Do you have any more apprenticeships going 😃
I am Indian ELECTRATION for very experience at home lighting fitting
Hi ,is there a reason you used a kinetic switch for under cupboard lights etc ?
Yes I only had room for 4 modules in the 2gang box do doubles up the island and cabinets on 1 Quinetic switch with 2 receivers
@@Cjrelectrical was wondering If it was added later as if you got a feed at switch would of fed from that as still got to feed the receivers?anyway it’s not a scrutinise ,keep up good work I enjoy your channel 👍
Did you're mate fall asleep in a greenhouse,
Or does he were fison grow bags for his shoes 😄😄

Here's a hint: Coffee cups have these remarkable little finger saving features called HANDLES...
It's that little half-heart shaped loop thingy protruding from the side of the cup...
Hold the cup by that and you won't burn your fingers...
DUH...
