I am always amazed by the standard of English when with German officers or high ranking member of staff are interviewed. I can tell that they are very highly educated.

Several of the conspirators involved in the plot to kill Hitler on 20th July 1944 had been Rhodes Scholars and had studied at Oxford. Speer was an architect but had really wanted to teach mathematics at university whilst Goebbels held a PhD in German Literature.

The Nazis, who were bad people, (and this lawyer) accused Hess of acting without Hitler’s approval, but Hitler made sure his wife received a pension. Hess at his trial pronounced himself still an ardent supporter of Hitler, although he knew it wouldn’t help him at all. I don’t think this adds up.

I agree. To say Hess didn't know hitler wanted to invade Russia is curious. Of course he knew. It was hitlers obsession.

This man did his duty to defend an accused war criminal. We are fortunate to witness his recall of those events in history.

I had heard from one of the American attorneys who gave a testimony through Shoah Foundation that Hess would have probably gotten off had he stuck to his amnesia defense, that he could only remember short term things, but Hess proclaimed in court one day that he was of sound mind.

Hess was never going to be released. He was murdered In Spandau prison by an American. Please give David Irving a listen too, Very well researched work by the most outstanding researcher regarding the 2nd WW.

@@andrewwake8607 Thanks for the information, I heard there was suspicion he was indeed killed at Spandau Prison, I was surprised with Hess living to 93, that someone didn't kill him much sooner. I really wish Josef Mengele before he allegedly drowned from having a stroke in South America would have stood trial. My understanding was the Latin American countries were sort of a sanctuary for Mengele. He even practiced as a physician at one point in South America.

@@markbowman6655 Argentina, Patagonia & Chile seemed to be a surefire hideaway for escaping SS & Gestapo Members these places having Large Germanic populations, My personal opinion of Hess Is that he was only Guilty of attempting to secure peace between Britain & Germany. Hess was under lock & key as you are aware with the British long before particular crimes were perpetrated. Again via RUclips David Irvine & any talk he gives regarding his research Into Hess & Hitler are truly fascinating. The fact that many Governments around the world Pursue & Prosecute Mr Irvine because of his books & lectures points to certain aspects of foreign & Domestic Governments not been comfortable with him not towing the party line. Hope you have a entertaining night's viewing.

@@andrewwake8607 Hi Andrew, yea I almost had sympathy for Hess, because from only a basic knowledge of WWII and the Nazis, to me it seemed surely facing death by Hitler if he returned to Germany, that Hess really meant well, and thought he could negotiate peace.

@@markbowman6655 If you have a listen to the Gentleman I named earlier you will more than likely come to the same conclusion as me, There Is a good chance Hitler was going along with Hess because he too would have preferred not to go too War with the British. I cannot do the Great historian justice In this comments section again suggest you have a listen.
