I'm a happy user of 2 ESS Dual in my Kraton and Asuga, but due to internal space management, I installed these in the lenght sense. It seems they have an internal gyro to shape the sound, Would you know if the installation rotation makes a difference, and how dos it affects the sound?
Hi @AMain Hobbies I received my dual from you about a week ago, it works great on my brushed Element RC Enduro Sendero, but won't work at all on the intended vehicle which is a brushless Losi LMT. I've read other threads of people coming to the conclusion that these don't work with certain ESCs. Do you know if there any truth to that?

@@AMain_Hobbies 2S for the vehicle that worked, 3S for the vehicle that didn't work. Using the supplied connector which runs to the battery for power. In both cases I configured the speaker on the software for the appropriate battery type. For signal I'm using the supplied splitter which plugs into the receiver, then splits to the speaker, and the esc.

@@frozenfist3360 I know this is old but for those looking into this. The Spektrum Smart data protocol seems to mess with splicing the sound control into the ESC wire. If you have extra channels on your RC, put the ESS sound module into the extra channel and mix it with the throttle.
Hey . Are you able to read your device via RC Plus ? i have 2 - today both can nnot be read, use 2 S-link, 2 new cables- I getting Error code Type:266 - check data cable , but yesterday all was ok.

Brett, I’m looking for siren and lighting wiring assistance. I have lights, but no consolation into a single system. This ESS One sounds like I can have the siren in the third channel, right? So that would work... Do you have suggestions for how to get my lights together?
Hmm, great question. Not sure how you'd get the lights and sirens to work together because the lights requires one channel, and the siren on a second. You may have to flip two channels on. But I'll message a few people here and see if they have any idea. -Brett
The biggest help is a system to consolidate multiple light into one unit for control. I guess it would be similar to theRC Semi MFC 01, 02, or 03 from Tamayia. It is a single unit for lights and sound, I just need police... Thank you for answering and your help.

I just finished installing the duel plus on the TRX four and everything is working except how do you get the horn to work. You mentioned about a third channel but that doesn’t seem like I’ve got that with this truck is there another way of making that function

For this, you will need to splice the ess into the positive and negative wires coming off the ESC, there are only two (ignore the jumper wires that goes from one connector to the other connector). -Brett
I badly need an answer too. It's irritating when you do rock crawling and have to stop frequently to assess the rocks and your truck keeps turning off and on 😑
@@mckyra You can hook the system up on your computer and change the delay time for restarting the engine. Default is 5 seconds but you can easily change that to 10s or longer. Whatever you prefer. Good luck.
The dual has two speakers but is also larger. I believe the dual also includes some mounting brackets for common trail trucks of a few years ago. Not sure how applicable the mounts would be today, but the system will sound great. -Brett
No, I don't think it will be enough power. It is supposed to be directly wired to the battery wires on the ESC; I don't think the Rx can power it. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Thanks I definitely prefer the louder of the 2, I've tried most all others simulator kits out there & none of them have the volume needed to make it worth while. especially when running a Redcat Gen 8 w/all metal gears there loud as it is. the Traxxas Slash kit on the other hand is extremely loud its loudest Ive ever heard but it would be a pain to install on a gen 8 & its only one sound . I was researching ess simulator kits & it shows the ess one was the original speaker in larger form then they made the ess one plus 2017 in smaller form & directly following that was the ess duel speaker plus (confusing) I went with the Ess Duel Plus, itll be here Friday, fingers are crossed I like it.... @@subzerolives In theory it will work but you'll be discharging one battery faster than the other; how fast? Not sure. The real issue is the possibility of the LVC cutoff being delayed and not cutting off at the appropriate time, leaving you with one battery drained too far, and the other too soon. I suppose we don't really know how much it drains unless you try it and measure the voltage drain with a cell checker. But, I can't recommend anything that may be unsafe or cause you any personal or property damage; to be safe, we don't recommend you try this. -Brett

Maybe some velcro, double sided tape, zip-ties or create a mount using Lexan sheet; there may be plans for a 3D printed mount on Thingyverse. The ESS-Dual includes a TRX4 mount but it is intended for the Defender body where there is more room under the body for clearance. Hope this helps. -Brett

The ESS unit comes with a t-style connector adapter but that's the wrong connector for you. You might have to splice in the ESS wires to the ESC wires and solder them in there. Anyone get the blinking blue lights? I cant seem to get it to work on my TH. Works with steering. I have a Xmaxx, using the y connector esc to receiver channel 2. Still cant get it to work. Also using separate 2s lipo to power it. Any suggestions are welcome thanks!!!!
I have not tried. If I plug it into the TH ch. Directly it works fine just no throttle for the truck. If its plugged into ch 3 directly it works great off the steering control.
I just set it all up on my traxxass rustler 4x4 vxl and everything works fine. So what your are saying run it without the 2s lipo? I would have to power it through a 4s battery?

You would want to power the ESS from both packs to ensure they discharge together, but you can't since the ESS is only 6S LiPo max. I just got done reading a few forum threads where users where having the same issue with the X-Maxx, even when using 6S in the model. This user described blue lights and no throttle. I'm not sure what it is about the X-Maxx, or the ESC used, but it seems as though they do not pair well. I'll see if we can gather any more info. Let me know what you try or experiment with. -Brett

Not that I'm aware of but it may be possible. The instructions say it will work from 5-26 Volts of power.

Yeah, better sound some say. But the dual is the original design so it's bigger and bulkier. The One is quite good and it's much more compact.

Can I put this in my X-Maxx 8s. I have two 4s 8500mah 14.8v batteries. Is it possible? Should I set the volume to 1 or 2?
No. They can handle up to 6S but no more.

Yes, that voltage should work but unfortunately, one of these ESS units is about the same size as a SCX24.
