Great on a crawler. But now I couldn't even imagine owning a boat without one of these. Boats always sound so awesome on the water. A little 305 will sound like a beast.

It sounds like it has a slight header leak in the idle position.
The irony is, it sounds just like an old mud truck.
Most of them have header / manifold leaks in one form or another.
The sound brings another level to the illusion of scale 4x4 trucks.
I really wish the V8 sound effect would sound more like an actual V-8 than something you would hear in like a mobile game but still pretty good
You can download new sounds, you are not limited to just what it comes with.
Well, found my problem and this unit sounds awesome. bought 4 more for my other trucks and what a blast.
Agree with your conclusion and the comments: I bought one after seeing your video (which is great!) and this little speaker really surprised me! Excellent sound quality and volume, and no background distortion or noise.

It is an EXCELLENT system for the price paid. I also had to mount it in front of rear posts. Remember plug Y into receiver and then plug ESC throttle connection and the Sound system in the Y. As well dean/T connection between Lipo and sound system speakers. Louder than expected for the size. Tks for the video :-)

Cool. I had this system on my Redcat Gen 7, so when I got my Gen 8 it was one of the first updates I put on it. Weights, bling and performance stuff make the trucks work better, but a sound system adds miles of smiles!
i need this for my wraith SO bad! i have a few tamiya longhaulers and highlifts that i put sound into, but the MFC unit is more expensive then the truck kit itself, so this will be sweet with a much lower price ^_^
Sound units are great. One thing for everyone to consider if running a sound unit is that not everybody wants to hear the noise, so please be considerate of others. It's kind of like when I go to the woods to see and hear nature, and I'm forced to listen to Mississippi Queen turned up to 11 by some guy who has never heard of earbuds...
One thousand percent agree. Loud sound modules or outrigger motors have definitely ruined my enjoyment or experience at a few RC events. These are from cool but don’t blast them in nature.
I need to get another one of these for my Summit.
You can also use the JST off of your esc. If you are using lights just split it.
I’ll have to look closer but I don’t think I had the JST plugs to do that with what’s included.

I thought you want a crawler as light and low center of gravity as possible? Seems like this would be horrible for the crawler physics. It weighs half a lb and mounts high up. Sounds awesome though!!!!!
Definitely not something you add for performance, it’s purely for show off/scale factor.
I had an earlier version of the ESS-One in my Yeti Score Trophy Truck and I loved it! I'm thinking this would be awesome in one of the new Traxxas UDR's!!!

It would be nice if you can purposefully hold your throttle at half when calibrating it.. especially for crawlers.
I bet that would have it Rev higher at lower speeds, just like your geared right down, stupid low gearing...
Thats what I would try... because then you get some throttle variance as your moving really really slow.
The speaker cone inside is not water proof , you have to mount it high enough to prevent water from splashing into the cone through the vent

The Problem is the 8bit sound if it would be 16bit or 24bit it sounds much much better.

I’ve been looking at sound kits for my monster truck build,I was gonna take off the oba from my slash n try to use it,but I’m looking for a good sound system there’s so many out there now it’s hard to know which r good??? Something from Sense Innovations is likely better for a monster truck build. They make an ESS one plus also that is a bit cheaper. Bonus of the Traxxas system is waterproof, the ESS systems are not, but they look like they'd take some splashes OK.

Cool unit, however doesn't work on the Spektrum gear, tried it on the Losi SBR 2.0 and nothing.
Threw it on the Tamiya TA-07 Pro with Hobbywing gear and bam 😂😂

I have the new 2021 bronco… had to mount it in front because of clip housing on body. Not sure what I’ll do if I ever need the battery nook in front.
no luck here after installation, into Traxxas Slash 4x4, there are two blue led lights, dim that are blinking, no sound? light blink with out power plugged in, and just having it connected to the Receiver.

you do not need any special cable besides those ones you will get in the box together with ESS

Probably not as it's designed for 3s batteries at most, which are around 12V.

Can't you just solder the power leads to the battery wire from the speed control.

Ok just because Team Associated distributes it does not mean they produce or package it let alone label the box. AE is still one of the top 3 Rc racing companies
Their name is on it, therfore they "own" it.
@@jbw5485 wow good eye sight. Yes AE is on the box.... No they do not own ESS. Sense Innovations is the company that produces the ESS sound systems. Ground air and water pal the systems are from sense innovations. associated is a primary distributor therefore their name is on the box. So wrong AE doesn't own it. Besides AE is now owned by Horizon hobbies which are dumb asses
Was just wondering how was your starting the sound and shutting it off also I seen it had a little red plug would you be able to plug that into the receiver like where the fan would plug in for power or no

Outside of it sounding great, your comment on the end about how it hides or muffles the electronics squeal is a big big plus for me. We all love scale rigs but then hearing that electronics sound just breaks the immersion for me.
Im wondering why so many ppl stick to the traxxas esc. Ive installed the hobbywing 1080 g2 and there is no squeal any longer. Also had no problem to install the advanced light kit. Imo, traxxas esc makes no sense at all

Can it be powered by the JST connector that comes out from the ESC?
