      I love both original and Priest version. They don't interfere with each other at all, both are amazing in their own right, and I like how Priest made the song their own by changing it a lot while not ruining it either. And Peter Green was the real Fleetwood Mac, even if later era is good pop rock, but completely different band.

      @garyludwick9256 7 лет назад

      Of course opinions are subjective. I respect this list for what it is. I personally would have to say the majority of cover songs are not "better" than the originals. Covers are done because they are loved by band members (a notable exception being Quiet Riot not caring for Slade, but it gave them great success at the time) The greatest way to pay tribute to your influences is to cover what they composed. Flea would not be the player he is today, but for Jim (James) Jamerson's magnificent bass lines for so so many Motown hits. Whiskey in the Jar was a folk song cover when Thin Lizzy recorded it. Many cover songs do not have the same cultural nor societal impact as the original versions, nor can they reach the same sales numbers as we continue to move through this age of shared information.
      I see many people disagreeing with this list, but these same people have opinions of what they like better also...they just have never put them forth on RUclips

  • @ryplay5430

    ‘Whiskey In The Jar’ is actually a very old Celtic song that was the Irish drinking anthem and The Dubliners covered it first, the Thin Lizzy did a cover of it, then Metallica did a cover of it, so basically Metallica did a cover of a cover
