Just curious do u think eli is a HOFer?? I do not. His 2 sb runs were impressive but hes had so many bad years. People tune in to watch Aaron Rodgers play. They dont for ELI. What do giants fans think??
Integrity101 I disagree with you. I can argue with u with 2 QBs, John Elway, and Troy Aikman. Elway is great I don’t deny, but if u look at stats. His rating, yards, and everything. Eli is better than him on every stats. Aikman is purely overrated in my opinion. Yes he won 3SBs but with a super dominate cowboys team. He only has 160ish TDS, not even half of Eli. And his rating is lower than Eli also. Now those 2 QBs are in HOF, why can’t Eli be?
@@minif4046 Different eras different expectations. Comparing a QB drafted in the 80s stats with a QB drafted in 04 is foolish. Eli needs to be compared to Aaron Rodgers Philip Rivers, Ben roethlisberger. Its nowhere near the same game. QBs used to regularly make PRO BOWLs with more INTs than TDs. Today a QB like that isnt even in the league, let alone a PRO BOWLER
Integrity101 2 super bowl Runs with 2 MVP’s is top ten in yards and touchdowns and the super bowl run was against probably the greatest QB of all time and is 4th in game winning drives
I'm not a fan of either team but this was great. I think it would be awesome to do teams that aren't finals but had fantastic match-ups along with James rivalries like KC/Raiders, Redskins/Cowboys and Colts/Patriots
The 1990 Monday Night Football matchup that saw the 49ers win 7-3 ought to be on this list above the 1986 Giants comeback on Monday Night. Lowest scoring game in the history of the rivalry. No points in the second half for either team. A true slugfest.
The 1990 week 13 Monday Night Football game should have been on this list. Both teams were 10-0 and looking ahead to their showdown, but then both teams lost in week 12. This was the game where Jim Burt got Ronnie Lott angry for the game by telling him that Phil Simms said he was washed up. Lott sprained both his knees during the game -- one of them severely enough that he was out for the rest of the regular season. He sprained his other knee in the 4th quarter, had to be helped off the field, and then came back in time for their goal-line stand. The game also had the highest attendance of any game ever played at Candlestick park, because of the months of buildup.
Great game. I believe this 1990 week 13 loss was a great lesson for Parcells. He could have won the game if he kicked the field goals instead of going for it on 4th down in the 4th quarter. Giants could have won 9-7. He didn't make the same mistake in the NFC CG thank God.
You forgot one of the best games in NFL history!! 1990. Both teams 10-1. (They were both 10-0 and both lost to rivalries! SF lost to the Rams and the Giants lost to the eagles) San Fran won 7-3! Then the G-men got their revenge in the playoffs and won the super bowl!!(that 7-3 game was remembered by Simms going after Ronnie Lott!! That was a little crazy but showed the Giants were for real!!)
This rivalry is rarely covered. I love to see both my Niners and the Giants just punch each other out. I saw a stat a few years back that both teams held 15-15 records against each other. Right down the middle. Seems about right. Always excited to see these 2 play each other
I hate the Giants. Doesn't matter the season, whenever we play each other, I always want the 49ers to win. They've been the cause of more heartbreaking losses in franchise history compared to any other team. Even when compared to Dallas and Green Bay in my opinion. The 1986 49-3 beatdown, the 1990 NFC Championship, and the 2011 NFC Championship. I think the two teams have met each other in the playoffs more than any other two in the Super Bowl era. I already knew what the number one game on your list was when I clicked this video. As a 49ers fan, that 1990 NFC Championship game loss was the most demoralizing game in franchise history. The team was on the cusp of winning a 3 third straight Super Bowl, and I don't think any other team has come closer. If only Montana didn't get hit, or Craig didn't fumble. Steve Young would have started against the Bills, so that would have been something interesting. Anyways, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Gotta take the good with the bad. That's the life of a sports fan.
This game came down to coaching Bill Parcells did best coaching job ever with backup QB & SF had more talent but Bill Walsh would have got the team ready. Every matchup he dreaded LT & Giants always devising ways to keep the offense going & Joe upright. Too bad our owner drove out Bill he threatened to fire him a year before his last SB. Consolation prize SF stopped Dallas from getting 6 & a four-peat lol... imagine Skips ego & rest of cowboy fans lol. Actually, if that happens maybe Jimmy isn't fired & they win 7 have Bellichek run.
TheLoneDraftsman..........Erik Howard made a great play fighting through a double-team block to be in position to hit Craig while Jesse Sapolu tackled him to the ground. Lawrence Taylor fought through two blocks by Brent Jones and Tom Rathman in order to be in position to recover the fumble that Erik Howard forced. The hit on Montana was a case study on 'never giving up' demonstrated by the relentless pursuit by Leonard Marshall and Lawrence Taylor. The 49ers were defeated by a total team effort. Parcells was a genius when it came to pushing a player's button and getting him to play above his ability. Oh....and you forgot to mention the very first Giant home victory in franchise history......the 1985 17-3 NFC wild card playoff victory over the 49ers.
@@edwardbrito3332 .......I agree with you assessment. But please understand......Hostetler was a damn good QB. He was the 2nd QB drafted in the 1984 NFL Draft after Boomer Esiason and some analyst had him rated as the best QB in the draft that year. Now....I will say that Hosteler could not beat out Phil Simms from 1984-1990.......but he stepped in and did a damn good job beating three very good teams in the 1990 playoffs that year.
@@byrongammonbyrongammon9937 Your right Hosteler was hell backup & Parcels & NYG great. I'm just mad Bill Walsh retired early for 3-peat run. It was great coaching job maybe best ever.
@@byrongammonbyrongammon9937 What I remember about that 1990 game was the Giants seemed jinxed all game. In the first quarter Megget on an option play found a wide open Giant fullback, who dropped the ball. So, they had to settle for a FG. They were winning 6-3 right before the half, then on 3rd down got a questionable roughing the passer call which extended the drive to FG range and it was 6-6 halftime. Then, Bryant missed a chip shot FG in the 3rd quarter. Finally, on the epic play where Montana was knocked out, he had fumbled the ball and at least 2 Giants had it but couldn't hold on and SF recovered. So, every break seemed to go SF's way. Until the last break went the Giant's way, the Craig fumble. Still, give Hostelter credit on the final drive, they were way out of FG range, about the SF 40 yard line. He needed 2 big passes to get them in FG range.
The 2011 NFC Championship is probably the best out of all of them IMO. Yes you can say we got lucky because of Kyle Williams but watching Eli taking the brutal beating of his life and still leading them to victory has to be the gutsiest performance ever.
These two teams had some epic battles during those gsmes. If it wasn't for the Giants, the 49ers would've had more Superbowl titles in the 80's into the early 90's. The Giants eliminated them in the playoffs in '85, '86, and '90. Guess who the Giants' defensive coordinator was to slow down that West Coast offense? You guessed it, Bill Belichick! Interesting! 🤔

I have been in a fan of SF since 98' all I have known is heartache few teams fielded worthy 17' Cle but with a little luck won a few games. Worst loss since 98': (Top 5) 1) Sea vs SF NFC Championship 13' (injury top G Iupati, no roughing kicker calls, 4th & 30 hail mary that worked, Sherman meme of all time)2) Bal vs SF Superbowl 12' (it was a blow out what made it ok they fought back what made it bad they didn't run the damn ball for the final plays in 5. No bootleg or Gore run. Like Sea loss with Lynch in SB but not as bad lol).3) NYG vs SF NFC Championship 11' (1st year in playoff in a decade so not much expected. Played NYG tough but Eli did what he did to NE twice in SB.)4) STL vs SF Final Game for the division 10' (Benched Alex Smith for some bum. Said QB completed 3 passes 2 ints & one lucky almost int slipped defender hands & accidentally caught & scored. Alex comes back in 3rd almost wins game). Gave the world beastquake cause Sea won division.5) 04' when won 2 games & barely beat AZ in OT to not go winless or 99' Rams end 24 something consecutive losses to SF by blowning them out in STL by like 40+. I'm happy cause GM Lynch + Coach Shannahan will bring back glory soon. Even Bill Walsh had bad seasons 2-14 & 6-10 with 8 game losing streak.
Also side note, the 1988 week 2 game is interesting, because the 49ers had lost 3 straight times to the Giants, including twice in the playoffs in New York. Bill Belichick had taken over as defensive coordinator in 1985, and that is when the problems really started against Bill Walsh's squad. In that game, Bill Walsh was playing musical chairs with Joe Montana, and Steve Young. Young was lackluster in the first half, and eventually replaced by Joe after halftime. If the 49ers don't win that game with that Rice miracle bomb they don't make the playoffs, and the Giants would win the NFC East with an 11-5 record. Instead they were on the outside looking in with a 10-6 record behind the LA Rams. Phil Simms famously accused the 49ers of "laying down like dogs" when they depended them beating the Rams to get into the playoffs in the final week of the season, but didn't.
Yeah I'm tight about that. It could have been the Giants that won that Super Bowl against Cincinnati and not the 49ers. 49ers would of most likely missed the playoffs if they didn't win that game!

The 89 Monday night regular season game I mean. Two great teams that year and at one point it was 24-24 the Giants came back but fell short. I can't find highlights of that game anywhere 🤔
Reyna Thompson was called for a neutral zone infraction on Cofer's missed 51 yarder. He then made a 46 yarder after that to put the Niners ahead, otherwise the Giants would have had all of the momentum and the ball going the other way.
That collapse in the division game was so classic giants not just because we collapsed it's how we find ways to lose, we blow a huge lead but then have a fairly easy fg for the win but we can't even snap the ball to give our kicker the chance, just too classic
It was bad luck the snapper was injured & they started a retired guy. Awesome championship but let's be real prize was whooped 02' TB. At least NYG won to advance to the SB.
Nope TB had an all-time defense they destroyed their competition look games scores. Phi won top seed & division got hammered, Oak best offense couldn't score till 3rd QT on Rice effort TD.

"An ending like no other in playoff history" because the referees made an egregious error that ended the game. We're not talking a controversial penalty call or non-call like pass interference, we are talking about the referee forgetting that the receiver downfield actually did report in as an eligible receiver, and then throwing the flag anyway, and negating the pass interference call which would have given the Giants the ball inside the five, and ending the game without even allowing the receiver to remind them that yes, he DID report in and WAS eligible. No game that results in the NFL apologizing for the officiating at the ending should be #2 on any list unless it is of blunders.

As a Giants fan, Monday night will be boring, 2 trash teams facing each other for a good draft pick, another disappointing year for us Giants fans
Malik Lander yea honestly. I don’t think it could have been more disappointing. We had the potential to be good last year and this year.
@@minif4046
Different eras different expectations.
Whenever these teams, Saints and Packers are division leaders, the NFC playoffs is so exciting to watch.
Jan. 3 1982 Giants at 49rs the first playoff game for Bill Walsh! 38-24 great start to the rivalry! Who knew it would be so Super....
You forgot one of the best games in NFL history!!
1990. Both teams 10-1.
(They were both 10-0 and both lost to rivalries! SF lost to the Rams and the Giants lost to the eagles)
San Fran won 7-3! Then the G-men got their revenge in the playoffs and won the super bowl!!(that 7-3 game was remembered by Simms going after Ronnie Lott!! That was a little crazy but showed the Giants were for real!!)
Their 4 playoff meetings in the 80s were intense plus hearing Pat Summerall and John Madden in the booth for CBS
This rivalry is rarely covered. I love to see both my Niners and the Giants just punch each other out. I saw a stat a few years back that both teams held 15-15 records against each other. Right down the middle. Seems about right. Always excited to see these 2 play each other
Giants and 49ers rivalry is better than cowboys and 49ers.
Its debatable.
Yep it is better
You again.
It more physical thats for sure
+Light Yagami No it's not, the 49ers usually lost to the Cowboys on a regular basis in the Postseason.
What about the game that started it all, the 1981 playoff game in candlestick field? A true classic.
LT is the greatest player of all time. No other player has single handedly changed the game more dramatically than LT.
Best non divisional rivalry other than Indy vs Pats. Just been Garbo the past few years
I hate the Giants.
Was only one week between 1990 NFC Championship and Super Bowl XXV
The Bills-Giants Super Bowl was one week later, not two. There was no bye that season.
The 2011 NFC Championship is probably the best out of all of them IMO. Yes you can say we got lucky because of Kyle Williams but watching Eli taking the brutal beating of his life and still leading them to victory has to be the gutsiest performance ever.
Kyle Williams football awareness that game was less than 0. That first one that touched his knee was inexcusable
And yes, applause for Eli for taking such a beating by the d-line/linebackers
Amen!!
I agree
Sorry but you guys got lucky
Now this was a rivalry!!
Dude I fucking love these videos.
MVP of 2002 wild card Terrell Owens
Hardest game to deal with as a 49er fan is when Montana got hurt in the NFC championship game.
I kind of wondered if their rise to dominance began when he was promoted to defensive coordinator.
9:05 - this is the moment I lost my sh¡t .. I couldn’t decide what direction to run celebrating but what I recall is stumbling to the floor, getting up and run run run screaming. #NYG #LT
These two teams had some bruising games. I am a Cowboys fan but enjoy watching these two go at it. Specially when Parcells’ Giants would crush them.
Anyone else excited for another edition of tank bowl?
Yes
So stupid
As for me being a 49ers fans the most heart broken lost ever i seen is that 2011 NFC championship
Same here man that game was unforgettable
Idk that 2013 nfccg was hard to watch, looked so rigged for the Seahawks smh
I have been in a fan of SF since 98' all I have known is heartache few teams fielded worthy 17' Cle but with a little luck won a few games.
Worst loss since 98': (Top 5)
1) Sea vs SF NFC Championship 13' (injury top G Iupati, no roughing kicker calls, 4th & 30 hail mary that worked, Sherman meme of all time)2) Bal vs SF Superbowl 12' (it was a blow out what made it ok they fought back what made it bad they didn't run the damn ball for the final plays in 5.
2011 doesn't hold a candle to the 1990 championship game
That's not true, the 49ers defeated the Giants in 1987... 41-10

#2 1990 NFC Championship
#1 2011 NFC Championship
(I Have Only Been Alive to see #3 and #1)!!!
Talk about a blast to the past
Big blue wrecking crew gave the 49's alot of pain and grief back in the day! Loved every extrusiating moment. 49's were one hell of a team though, can't deny them that!
You could tell that belichick wanted montana injured to ensure that his golden boy brady's SB resume looked better than Montana's for the GOAT conversation
Put the pipe down dummy! Stupidest comment eva
I miss Candlestick I wish Levi was close to SF Instead
Yeah they should have rebuild the stadium, had a great exterior but really should have built a better interior
I'm a giant fan for life
Monday is going to be a snooze fest, but it's a good thing we have this.
P.S, the Niners were actually nasty in 2011, no cap. Mainly that defense.
I'm a Giants fan and the wifes a 49er fan....house divided...🤦♂️😫😂....oh and 2002 was a choke job, but the last play of the game was a blown call by the refs...🤷♂️
🧐so what happened
@@timelymirror7826 Giants defense ran out of gas, missed opportunities such as Shockey’s dropped pass. 49ers finding their rhythm and kept up the pressure
THIS WAS INTERESTING......................
I will never get over losing the 1990 NFC championship game.
I miss the days of truly hard hitting football. Sudden death overtime was so much simpler.
The Giants and 49ers have played against each in some of the greatest games ever!
Kyle Williams man. I'm sorry, but I will never get over that.
That year the Giants had snapping problems. They signed Trey Junkin to solve it and well the rest is history.
It was bad luck the snapper was injured & they started a retired guy. Awesome championship but let's be real prize was whooped 02' TB. At least NYG won to advance to the SB.
You never know what happens if we hold on to win that 02 playoff game. Could of knocked off Tampa.
Nope TB had an all-time defense they destroyed their competition look games scores. Phi won top seed & division got hammered, Oak best offense couldn't score till 3rd QT on Rice effort TD.
I can already guess four games: 1990 reg season, 1990 NFC Championship, 2002 Wild Card, and 2011 NFC Championship. Am I right?
You gotta do the STEELERS vs ravens.. Please
if it could be weighed out algorithmically, including stakes, talent (players and coaches and announcers), big plays, big hits, tension and drama, and 'pure football', I'd bet the games in this series (including the monday night games) taken all together were the overall best games between any two teams of the past 40 years in the nfl
It's ridiculous how they didn't show the game clock on TV before Fox did it.
The fact that this rivalry didnt even get an honorable mention on NFL Networks top ten is a joke. They had Bengals Browns and Jets Pats over this. WTF? Even Steelers Raiders when u think about it was only in the 70s. Giants Niners spans different eras 80s 90s 2000s 2010s.
Can u do Saints and Falcons next plz
2011 still hurts, Damn Ted Ginn didn’t play and let Kyle Williams ruin everything
Whaaat? The 1986 Divisional Playoff game Niners at Giants Stadium didnt make the CUT? Are you KIDDIN' me? The Giants SLAYED THE NINERS...49-3 and Nose Tackle Jim Burt NAILS Joe Montana who left the Stadium in an Ambulance......
SB25 was 1 week later, not 2
Two best uniforms as well
Yes they played some of the best games.
2013 nfccg was also hard to watch we had that game until the end .I say 2011 nfccg cuz of it was a home game and 1st of 3 nfccg
I didn't have the 86 reg season game on my list.
where is he getting this music it is fire
1990 regular season meeting belongs on this list, not the 86 regular season meeting.
Giants are the only team that Joe Montana has losing record against in the playoffs, of 2-3.
Anyone know the music that starts at 2:58
😶the 2002 wild card game was a bit intense at the end
Has anyone ever realized that the giants and the 49ers have the same away uniforms now
LET'S GO 49ERS!!

I will forever hate Kyle Williams for his debacle's in that NFC championship game.

That’s way the New York giants are way better💯💯🔥🔥🏈🏈
Carlos Figueroa shut the fuck up
Cecil Flounders u just mad lol
"An ending like no other in playoff history" because the referees made an egregious error that ended the game. We're not talking a controversial penalty call or non-call like pass interference, we are talking about the referee forgetting that the receiver downfield actually did report in as an eligible receiver, and then throwing the flag anyway, and negating the pass interference call which would have given the Giants the ball inside the five, and ending the game without even allowing the receiver to remind them that yes, he DID report in and WAS eligible. No game that results in the NFL apologizing for the officiating at the ending should be #2 on any list unless it is of blunders.
Did steve young start over montana at the beginning of 1988?
Why does it feel like every team in the NFC is the 49ers rival
