    Imagine if Young beat the Cowboys in the '93 NFC championship game and Montana beat the bills in the '93 AFC championship. A Super Bowl match up between those two would have been a legendary. Those are the kind of things you see in movies lol

      Heh, even Troy Aikman said in a Sports Illustrated interview that he would've LOVED to see that matchup. Of course, Troy wasn't going to allow it to happen since it was his Cowboys playing the 49ers that day.

In fact, I always felt that going to Kansas City once a year was good for Elway. No other place in the league would get a quarterback battle hardened like Arrowhead back in the early 90's...between the noise, and that pass rush....it was an unreal environment...

      I think it’s more crazy the 49ers sat a 4 time Super Bowl champion for his backup and constantly was worried about making his backup unhappy. Injuries probably didn’t help but Montana should have been on the 49ers till the end and we should have seen what we could have done with Rice in the 90’s. Young should have been traded or remained the backup. At least that would have been the right thing to do. But who knows how it would have played out. One of the weirdest things in sports history that Montana lost his job in the weirdest way possible after being a perfect Super Bowl Qb for 4 Superbowls!!!

I dunno if we'll see a feature that has to do with the '94 MNF game against the Broncos but that was at once thrilling but kind of sad because by that point in the season Montana was totally beat to hell and it was painful to watch him just throw the ball.

    • @thesentinel5523
      @thesentinel5523 5 лет назад +24

      That was the game that really proved more than anything that the Clutchness of Joe Cool was not of this earth and he was everything people said he was without a Walsh, a Rice, etc.. He and Elway (the king of 4th Quarter comebacks) were going back and forth throughout the 4th quarter of that game and just when you thought it was over after Elway had rushed in a td, there was still 1:22 left in the game. Chiefs need a td to win it, nothing else comes close and he has half the time to do it in as compared to the drive he led in Superbowl 23! I still refer to that MNF game as one of the greatest football games ever played.

    • @SPTO
      @SPTO 5 лет назад +6

      I totally agree with you and as further proof that Joe didn't need Walsh or Rice just look at the '93 playoffs where he had two great performances. If the Bills had lost to him in the AFC Championship that year I wouldn't have minded. Sadly the way he got knocked around that game was the nail in the coffin in a lot of ways as from that point on he was more physically fragile than he was before.

    I never really cared much for Steve Young even though he was a great QB as well. The fact that he replaced Montana never sat well with me. I get why the 49er's went that direction, but to me it was always a slap in the face to Montana. He won them 4 Superbowls and was still capable of playing at a top level.

      NFL just keeps getting involved with too much drama. When they learn to avoid it they’ll become great again.
      NFL players kneeling
      Donald Trump calling players bitches
      Colin Kaepernick nonsense
      Nike commercial drama
      NFL fans burning Nike shoes
      Gay cheerleaders on Saints cheerleading team
      New QB roughing the passer rule
      Saints vs Rams no call
      Horrible flags all season
      Patriots going to another Super Bowl
      Celebs and rappers refusing to do halftime show (kneeling drama)
      And much more...
      When the NFL learns to mind their own business and handle situations correctly they’ll be a better organization. I’m ok with the kneeling but most of the other fans would beg to differ. Instead of supporting the kneeling ON the field just make them sit in the locker rooms during the National Anthem. Offer a deal to Kaepernick to play on an NFL team but only if he promises to sit in the locker room during the National Anthem. Don’t try and ban the Nike commercial. Don’t put male cheerleaders on ANY NFL team. Change the QB rule. Get better referees. Replay certain plays to see if it was a flag or not. And get better celebs to do a fucking half time show. The NFL handles situations poorly. Why can’t they be like the NBA and let their players have fun?

It was in San Diego against the Chargers, and he got the ball back with about 1:50 left in the game, my friend and I looked at each other with big eyes and just started grinning. Sure enough he led them down the field and won the game with Marcus Allen on a draw play for a touchdown. What a moment, I'll never forget that game, that drive, or that moment in time. I loved watching Joe play, he just looked like poetry in motion, the way he moved was so smooth, no one looked like him, and he didn't even have a huge arm either, he did it with his brain.

    I remember this. Wasn't very memorable. For me, the thing was: Montana, when he didn't do 3/5 step drop, lighting fast plays (or play-actions), used to roll out of the pockets (side line to side line) and throw athletic perfect passes without ever setting his feet and seemed to be unstoppable, up until that hit in 1990. But, by now, he looked like he was playing in slow motion and watching him play you couldn't help thinking: "I hope he doesn't get killed", because he was so vulnerable, from injuries, and didn't have that mobility that made him such an effective operator before. He was originally actually more mobile than Young ever was, and was also a runner, albeit not as good a runner as Young.
