Sure wish you lived in Charleston SC. Being I’ve now been growing my beard a little over six months now and have been seriously taking care of my beard with oil, balm, conditioner, vitamins, etc I still can’t seem to find a real good Beard Smith. When it comes time I just don’t want a barber who my be good at hair cutting but lacks the skill set of beard styling. Seeing your videos you truly know beards and what to do!!! Definitely enjoy watching your videos and learning from you. Thank you for taking the time to show us all what you know.

Hi George! This helps me tremendously, but I have a few questions.
    1. Is there any particular shampoo you use to clean the bristles?
    2. Would I apply the conditioner immediately after washing with shampoo and washing it out?
    3. Is there and particular conditioner you prefer?
    Thanks!

    This is from *Kent's* website:
"Regularly remove loose hair from the tufts by inserting a Kent hair brush cleaner (LPC2) or a comb at the side of the brush, and lift the old hair away. Take care not to scrape the cleaner back and forth over the top of the tufts as this can cause damage, especially to pure bristle. Wash occasionally using warm soapy water - never use ammonia or harsh detergents. Submerge just the tufts into the warm soapy water (not the brush back) and jiggle the brush to clean. Finally, rinse in cold water and flick off any surplus water, then gently wipe dry with a clean towel. Allow to dry naturally ensuring the bristles are face down and away from sunlight, radiators, *hairdryers* or any artificial heat."

Hi, been following your channel and I've learned so much already so thank you for sharing your knowledge. I wanted to ask personally what is a good alternative instead of a boar brush? (as it's forbidden for religious reasons). Also could you maybe make a video on brushes please, I've purchased a few Kent combs which are awesome, foldable, tash one and two different width one but haven't a clue about the brushes or big teeth ones, I've heard man made combs are the best. I also think we need to see maybe a video diary of yourself of your daily grooming, see the actual aloe Vera being applied, brushing and combing the beard once you've woken up and what you use before sleeping. See it worked in a routine so to speak. Thanks once again, keep up the good work. May God bless you and your family. Ameen.

My brother used to be one of the designers at Kent, and he says you must absolutely never dry these wooden brushes with a hairdryer. You will definitely crack the wood in time. Just let it air dry naturally in its own time.

Just cleaned my bristle brush for the first time a few days ago in the same way it was done in this video.
I still can not get rid of the "wet dog" smell. Used beard shampoo and the brush isn't the cheapest one either. Anyone experienced the same problem and is there a wsy to fix it?
If not then bristle brushes is only a lifetime if you want you your son and your grandson to smell like wet dog.

Here's a tip if you're interested in Kent brushes/combs. Don't buy from a US retailer. Go directly to the Kent website and DO NOT change the currency to USD or Euro. Leave it at GBP. Changing the currency to USD on their website will change a 21 pound (GBP) brush (which is $27 USD today) to $50 USD! I left it at GBP and ended up paying about $35 US (shipping included) on the Kent MC4

I am in the process of trying to grow a competition beard for 2017. My beard hairs are all cork screw shaped, which causes a lot of breakage trying to brush it, because they literally wrap around each other. So I try to only give it a through brushing after a shampoo while it is still wet. Occasionally I want to see what it looks like straightened out. There is an electric hot brush called Simply Straight. I set the temperature for 365 degrees. I think it goes all the way to 450. Anyway...it goes on dry hair and with just a few strokes I can add 3/4 of an inch to my beard as the cock screw hairs unravel and straighten out. This look last a few hours before my hair goes back to it's natural state. Maybe you could get one of these brushes in your area and do a video review of the product.

I know this is off topic, but did you know that boar bristle brushes are harvested in a very brutal and barbaric manner? Often, they use shears that are sharp and they cut the boar's faces and ears; and the animals can bleed to death and suffer long periods of time with infections and scabs. There is no regulations in China. Do you know of any board bristle brushes (or similar) that are harvested with a guarantee of cruelty free?

My brush is not dirty. I don't need to clean it. Probably, because , I keep that nasty crap out of my brush immediately. I cannot stand seeing a brush that has one hair in it. How can it be missed? Does your comb have hairs in it? No freaking way. Brushes are the same.

    • @JohnThompson-gs3gh

If I see a loose beard hair in my brush, I give it a propper, and respectful burial, at sea.

I try not to compare my beard with someone else's. It is because my beard is superior to most beards I see.(Yes,I feel bad for them, that struggle) Never take beard advice from a woman . They don't and cannot know what they talk about. Even though my beard is sweet, there are hordes of women that will want to do something about," how it makes them feel." I just remember how it makes me feel. Nothing like a good beard. No woman can know why. Some men are in the same category.
