- Pokémon emerald elite redux is no stranger to new forms. From competitive mega evolutions, to redux forms. The latest addition to this rom hack are straight up brand new evolutions. All 3 coming from gen 2 and each needing a change up. One of them was lucky enough to get a redux form. But are any of them actually good?

@MegaFidough reference to Jimothy Cool, who makes content related to competitive pokemon. His intros have a little storyline about the "horse council." A council made of horse pokemon and pokemon that can learn high horse power. Which includes Magcargo.

Small note: Duelumber can also use Submission on Rock Head sets since its a recoil move, which is pretty busted 👍
Not only that but Submission was buffed to be a Head Smash equivalent at 150 BP but with lower accuracy

Really excited for Furret's new evolution, Faerret! Furret's already really good, so giving it an evolution is probably going to make it even better. Plus, it means it'll be able to hold Eviolite which will pair nicely with its Fur Coat ability, letting it tank better.

@@blazikenchad8876 eviolite noctowl is actually pretty good. It has great bulk, reliable recovery, and automatic tailwind setup.
Phantowl was my favourite of these new evolutions. Spectralize Boomburst is just so good.

I was so happy seeing Escarginite. Magcargo is already one of my favorite Pokémon so Escarginite easily caught my eye.

I’ve been running Eviolite redux Macargo on my team and have really enjoyed its performance. I was hype when I saw the redux form was a thing.

these are awesome, I will say one thing about trevenent though - does it really need an evo? It gets grassy surge + grassy glide in this, and I found it really strong especially with infinite harvest recovery.

How they all work in practice:
Going out to say it upfront: all of them aren’t that good
Escarganite seems appealing but in practice it stays the same because of one VERY important detail that ruins it: The special attack and speed didn’t really change, all that changed was its bulk. It still maintains the same problems of not being strong enough or fast enough even with simple+shell smash.
Redux Escarganite is just sad: The evolution stat buffs I would say would be better for simple shell smash than the defensive goal that redux escarg is trying to pull off. Tho even with the stat increases from evolving being swapped between the two… it wouldn’t really matter, regular would still have a speed issue, and redux will always suffer the issue of it’s TERRIBLE weakness riddled typing. Cradily could at least pull it off since it had an amazing ability selection in absorbant, regen and storm drain, giving it especially great importance on monotype, escarg doesn’t have that utility, so it just gets outdone even with impenetrable chloroblast.
On paper it actually seems like a good Mon with favorable traits: powerful with strong stabs in the form of rock head submission and head smash with good coverage and even prio in Mach punch if it wants….
It’d be a shame if we already had a Mon with ALL of those tools and was just better….

The only thing duelumber has over lycanrock dusk is the bulk, everything else is in Lycan’s favor:
It has the speed to use it’s dangerous moves
It has sd to become a true sweeping threat
It has coverage that duelumber would kill for, flare blitz being the biggest one
And even the power difference in lumber’s favor isn’t that much of an advantage in practice, since Tough claws makes lycan just as powerful as it.
What about raging boxer? Yeah…. Have fun with the massive power decrease from head smash and submission to jagged and drain punch, dpunch since you do not want cc’s now double defense drop on a Mon that slow. If this had bulk up, then the raging boxer concept would actually work and fix the problem of being outdone by lycanrock, since raging boxer would separate itself.
Phantowl is definitely the best of the bunch, tho that isn’t saying much considering the competition, and even then phantowl, while not being terrible anymore….
Is now just your bog-standard wall breaker that gets speed creeped into oblivion, and one with an ability crisis at that between tinted lens and spectralize
I mean noctowel got a 10 point stat buff to its Special Attack 💀
I am a big duelumber supporter when 2.0 first came out I ran an assault vest with raging boxer and it goes goes stupidly hard

from a nuzlocke perspective escarginite was the only one i got much use out of as a hard counter to flannery with it's simple shell smash set if it sets rocks up on her ninetails, you also have a very good chance to get it so it's easy to make a consistent strat around it

Maybe I messed something up but when I checked if Simple gave +4 defense with Iron Defense I only got +3. Haven't checked it again since then, just assumed it gave +3 for moves that would normally give +2.

Depends if it was a Ground type move.
If you judge Graveler to be weak offensively purely because it is not fully evolved, know that Graveler have the exact same Attack as Gliscor, Runegrigus and Silvally Ground.

Pory Z is offensive oriented while Pory 2 is defensive + support oriented. Both are good in their own right.
Use twisted dimension and life orb, it could sweep the enemies. It's zap cannon, a 120 BP move is accurate because sighting sytem
NGL, I would have played ER if only it wasn't too chaotic with multiple broken abilities on a single mon and if it wasn't filled with loads of fakemon, half of which are quite unappealing to me.
