Does the dash screen seem too close to the driver? It’s RIGHT THERE!. Wouldn’t the steering wheel block parts of it since it’s not set back into the dash?
I like the Dark Horse (interior aside) but what I'm most curious about is a direct comparison of it and the Mach 1. The Dark Horse is basically the Mach 1 in the new gen, nothing special about it other than being slightly uptuned performance from new gen... and a gigantic cost increase. Everyone was all negative about Mach 1 being a 'parts bin special', but that's literally what the Dark Horse is as well.
Every car from every manufacturer is a parts bin special. Stupid argument. That’s how companies stay in business, if they made new specific parts for every single vehicle they’d be out of business in a heart beat.
I finally took delivery of mine yesterday, and while I was signing my life away, the guy that I was working with tells me that he's basically in the dog house now, and it's my fault. He said that after he saw mine in person, now he wants one so bad, but his wife said no 😂

I had a DH premium on order but a zl1 ended up popping up at the right time so I cancelled. It’s a shame I’ll never get the chance to own a 24’ for the foreseeable future but given the nature of this Gen I think I made the right call.
Definitely. ZL1> this any day of the week. The only thing keeping me from buying a 1SS 1LE or used ZL1 is the rear right blind spot. I didn't drive one but I did sit in a ZL1 and it's literally dangerous. I don't know if you can get used to it over time like owners say or if you can avoid it with using the mirrors but maybe driving it is a different story than just sitting there, like I did. The Camaro is a better car than the Mustang in every single way.
Not really the Mustang is faster around a track the Mach 1 is faster then the 1LE as Motor Trend stated already and the GT500 carbon pack will gap a ZL1. As a a daily the Mustang is so much better than the Camaro thats why it out sold the Camaro so badly. No one wanted a Camaro thats why it is gone after 24 and will be a 4 door SUV next.
It looks and sounds great and I’m sure it feels great too but idk if it justifies close 80k price tag on it tbh. For that price you can get a Shelby GT500 or 350R and you can get a Camaro ZL1 1le. Had this car stayed in the 60k price tag then yes it would totally make a lot of sense
Dealer markup is absurd on these, the total price I've seen at some Oregon Ford dealers eclipses the GT500 a few years back during the pandemic! Love this car, but hate the Ford dealerships. Great review by the way!
I really feel that we should keep analog gauges. They feel more premium and timeless that dash will be dated in a couple years. Not a huge fan of the new looks but thats subjective
*What is the projected price? *The ultimate question, what's the Nurburgring time? Is there a conversion available for a Supercharger, and or Turbos? Is there a conversion available for twin clutch?
Apparently this beast weighs 3995 lbs, with 500 at the crank allowing some drive train loss honest 390 wheel I'll stick with my worked foxbody ... 2850lbs 480 crank /370 wheel hp
Never pay msrp. Many people have being paying thousands over because they are stupid and have no self control. That’s why prices are the way they are. Rule of thumb is never pay msrp because you’re getting royally screwed with no lube for that price.
Now I'm curious why it is better. What did they change with the suspension? Can I just fix the issues with the older mustang for cheaper? It looks like that's what they did since the chassis looks the same.
The back end doesn’t match the soft looking front. Grill is too “gaping”. Digital dash is “over the top” and gimmicky with the animations of the drive modes…..unnecessary goofiness. The new power doesn’t offset the weight increase. Double intake is gonna make a power adder expensive and lower options available. Locked ECU…wtf.
A very impressive vehicle, that's for sure, but I am not going to lie...a really dislike the screens. While they are better than the ones in the lower trim Mustangs, they just look...out of place. At least Ford put a lot of time and effort into the powertrain and the chassis and suspension tuning. All of those things are taking the Mustang into full blown sports car territory.
This is a tough one because I think most people are rightfully concerned about the weight. They can obviously not feel the improvements of the Dark Horse as they watch videos. Motortrend says 3.7 for the 10r80 version but the tremec seems way too slow in the low 4s. I think the real problem is Ford needs to cater to two types of mustang buyers: 1)Someone who wants the best manual and excellent handling and steering feel (lacking in mustangs) and 2)A larger displacement mustang that is more focused on 0-60 and quarter mile times with likely the 10r80 or some dual clutch that doesn't cost 80K. Maybe the 5.2 without the supercharger in the GT500. Needs about 525 hp and 450 or above torque. That mustang doesn't need a 7200-7500 rpm redline, 6500-7000 would be more than enough. It's hard to please everyone but it's clear some mustang fans don't like the performance numbers they are seeing.
I like the look of the 2015's to 2020's the best.. They made the newer Dark Horse look worse even if it is faster. It's doesn't look as nice as the slightly older models...
The rear end of the car looks weird. You know how on GTA games there's kind of replicas of cars that we all love, but they look a little wonky. That's what the rear end looks like on this.
David did a good job of promoting this car. Ford owes him 💰. This car is not worth 70-80k. Doesn't have enough power. I know horsepower isn't everything. But for 70K. 420Hp isn't enough.
IMO go A10. I've owned many manuals from Civics, Integra GSR, 88 GT, 99 Roush Stage 2, 03 Cobra, 02 Camaro SS, 19 1SS 1LE, but these newer 10 speeds aren't your old 4 speed automatics like in say my 03 Lightning that are so stubborn to want to downshift and play. My 18 F150 5L with a 10R80, and an AML tune is just so damn good, playful, and willing to shift. I would rather swap a 10R80 in my L than add a Whipple for street use. The 10R80 is that good. Everyone always wants to hype their halo car using a manual, and knock automatic transmissions until the car's getting its ass kicked in a Streetfire.... I mean YT video, and then it becomes, "well the Camaro or Challenger Fat Pack had an automatic. If the Mustang GT had a 10R80 it would of won." Then outside of said video, they'll go right back to hyping a manual over an automatic transmission. I like to drive a manual. I honestly get it, manuals are fun to drive, and they're cool. I could see getting a Dark Horse with a manual if you prioritize the driving experience over maximizing the cars performance, but I would never consider buying a S650 Mustang GT with a MT82 over a 10R80. Furd should be F'in ashamed if themselves for pricing a new GT as high as they have, and then giving it a crappy, weak, budget, Chinese made MT82 over a Tremec. I bought my 19 1SS 1LE for $39,750 brand new, and the TR6060 was excellent, and better in every way (from a transmission standpoint) to every MT82 equipped MGT I've driven. Not only will it handle way more abuse, and power, but it's refinement, and smoothness is a level above the MT82 as well. Coming from T56 cars, the TR6060 was a real pleasure to drive. I mean it rows gears almost as nice as a Honda performance car manual transmission which is impressive for a transmission as beefy, and strong as a T56 based unit.
Thats interesting. Most people doing share that same opinion. with a price tag much higher, its performance doesn't seem to keep up. Even with the previous generation.
You really need to do more research on this vehicle because you are clearly in the "dark" (pun intended) as far as the enhancements made to it. You're only judging its looks and not its overall performance. Vast majority would disagree with your ugly front end comment......really?? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - guess you're just not much of a beholder! LOL
@@TH3ROCKSTAR - Ever hear the expression, "Don't judge a book by its cover?" That is just what you are doing! Try reading up on the variety of mechanical, etc. changes made to this car rather than just making an appearance statement.
After driving the S650 it is hands down the best Mustang, it no longer bucks and it goes smoothly about everything it does. No more tramlining down the road just straight ahead. If your all about the numbers get S550, if you like a solid feels well put together Mustang get the S650 its just so much more car. Go drive one and wright off the bat you will be able to tell the difference this thing has no wind noise at all it and it is so much more refined compare to the S550 which is a rattle trap.
Ford screwed everyone with the 10r80 and mt82. My 10r80 in my truck had problems since day 1 and finally gave out at 59k miles. It was replaced after a month in the shop and one month later it blew the oil pan gasket. It left my transmission struggling to find a gear and broke down on me in a rough part of town, sprayed ATF all over my hot exhaust. The mt82 has multiple lawsuits going on just like the 10r80 because of internal failures. If chevy can put a tremec in its base camaro then whats fords excuse for giving us a junk 6 speed? The tremec is the obvious choice in a mustang but at the end of the day the darkhorse is an extremely overpriced glorified mustang gt.
I'd love to know what the excuse is. everyone uses tremic challenger, camero so why not ford? And ya i have to 10 speed in my f150 and alot of reviewers praise it but i dont love it. @@Mike696956 i live off some twisty turny roads and the 10 speed is lost, constantly slamming gears. Coasting down a hill and then climbing it feels like a neutral drop at times. I have a 2019 Shelby GT350 I brought from the previous owner in 2020 with 2400 miles I love my GT350 its one of my best cars I ever owned now I have a little over 13k miles and still love the sound and handling what’s shocking about the dark house is that’s it cost more than than what I paid for my GT350 In my opinion is a better car than the dark horse….even the GT Mustang is pretty pricey….I would encourage anybody who is considering a dark horse please look into getting a GT350 before dishing out money for dealer mark ups for car that’s not worth more than a GT350….it’s like when the new Corvette came out paying for a base C8 when you can get a C7 ZR 1 for the same price with manual transmission these car companies and dealers need to realize when they allow outrageous prices for there pockets they are actually losing their fan base
I was going to buy this but decided to buy five S197 5.0s instead. Now I get to match my car with my outfit every day.
I ran one with my speed3 yesterday. he took off before me but i came around by about 3/4 car lengths. I need to invest in a 360 cam or a dash cam. You don’t see anybody racing speed’s that have ben done up. Only runs i can find on youtube are bolt on tuned ones or slightly bigger turbo
It’s very nice, definitely a mustang someone could keep stock and have fun. It could be a really nice daily, especially in an auto.
What would you prefer for driver engagement and everyday riding, dark horse or m2 ?
The emblem reminds me of the transformer emblem put on a yellow camaro. I agree with your friend.
He said that after he saw mine in person, now he wants one so bad, but his wife said no 😂
Curious why buy a darkhorse at that price point? And. Being heavy vs the last generation
@@calvinmauney5669 I'm paralyzed, so I need an automatic, so a GT350 is out. It's also going to be my daily driver, so I wanted it to be naturally aspirated, so GT500 is out. I like the look of the new ones. I also like the tech, and they may be a little heavier, but they're also more powerful.
Congratulations
I saw a blue soft top at my dealership that mustang looks amazing in person🚫🧢🤝🤔
It looks and sounds great and I’m sure it feels great too but idk if it justifies close 80k price tag on it tbh. For that price you can get a Shelby GT500 or 350R and you can get a Camaro ZL1 1le. Had this car stayed in the 60k price tag then yes it would totally make a lot of sense
Way better!🔥🔥🔥
Insane monster!😈😈
Had my local dealer put me on a list for one. It’s a shame I had to back out after a $35k mark up.
At the price point I don't see how you could pick the Dark Horse over the GT350.
i just cant justify trading my 2022 Mach 1 HP for this, alI have is K&N filter and Corsa Helixx Double x pipe
It looks good but I like the look of the S650 GT with proformance pack and the night pony package better.
I agree. The dark horse looks like it has bags under it's eyes
@@deebrandt007 Exactly.
Dealer markup is absurd on these, the total price I've seen at some Oregon Ford dealers eclipses the GT500 a few years back during the pandemic! Love this car, but hate the Ford dealerships. Great review by the way!
The GTD Mustang is gonna be crazy tho🏆
I really feel that we should keep analog gauges. They feel more premium and timeless that dash will be dated in a couple years. Not a huge fan of the new looks but thats subjective
Saw one of these driving through Helen Ga over the weekend, that you?!
*What is the projected price?
*The ultimate question, what's the Nurburgring time?
Is there a conversion available for a Supercharger, and or Turbos?
Is there a conversion available for twin clutch?
This is the last of the last. That body shape is different for me. But cool. Fast. Beautiful. ❤❤
It’s disappointing that you didn’t review a handling package mach 1 to compare to…
What's wrong with some regular gauges? I know we already are driving computers but does it have to that in your face?
I don't like ford at all but BUT this mustang is really looking 👀 wow the bullit and this really pulling my strings 😮 500 HP N/A is phenomenal
I'm surprised u like the sound. It sounds like they made it quieter. I'll take your word for it tho. Great review 👌
Apparently this beast weighs 3995 lbs, with 500 at the crank allowing some drive train loss honest 390 wheel
I'll stick with my worked foxbody ... 2850lbs 480 crank /370 wheel hp
Build it out for handling and that's probably way more fun. Wide sticky tires, with coilovers and some other bits like sway bars, endlinks etc.
500 crank isn’t 390 rear wheel horsepower. It’s probs more like 430-440.
Im not a mustang fan by no means but......i really like the way this one looks
Just bought a 23' Eruption Green GT and man I'm glad I didn't get a 24'
I will buy one when they are selling at msrp or lower. It will happen soon.
Already are.. at least, in my area
Never pay msrp. Many people have being paying thousands over because they are stupid and have no self control. That’s why prices are the way they are. Rule of thumb is never pay msrp because you’re getting royally screwed with no lube for that price.
Ok putting Triple 7 on the map!
I have a DH with HP and love it! Do you know any good shops for mods in SoCal?
Did you adjust the steering to track settings? I think it’s too firm and on my custom mode I use sport steering with track exhaust
Now I'm curious why it is better. What did they change with the suspension? Can I just fix the issues with the older mustang for cheaper? It looks like that's what they did since the chassis looks the same.
They made it better on a quality level its tighter and feels more solid. No rattles, no wind noise , no hopping and very smooth power.
As a car hauler, I’ve already delivered 4 of them to dealers. I’m a huge mustang fan. I don’t like the new mustangs. It does sound good though.
Love the backend, front end not so much. Nor the screen. I guess I'm a fan of normal gauges.
I can’t get past the Honda Accord front clip
The way it looks......it reminds me of a GT350, a Mach 1 and a Boss 302 all in one
I love the video! I'm not sure if I like how the Dark Horse looks…
Looks like a fun car.
Iv always wanted a mustang with a baphomet on the side of it. Thats so cool.
I think you may need to get your eyesight tested.
@@tommywood9401 dark horse man! 🤘🏻
@@alonzokincaid1362 Blind man!
I still have to go with a ‘23 Gt500 over a ‘24 Dark Horse!
I'm still not too hot on the trunk/decklid, but the s650 is definitely a mean looking car...
I see a dark horse in his future...my all time favorite version of the mustang the boss 302 and the 67 Eleanor
Blue, great review. I dig everything about this car and the interior too. I would spec the car exactly like this.
My dark hourse is scheduled for production in two weeks
David did a good job of promoting this car. Ford owes him 💰. This car is not worth 70-80k. Doesn't have enough power. I know horsepower isn't everything. But for 70K. 420Hp isn't enough.
It’s not 420 hp it’s literally 500hp
@@Rerollful It's 500 crank horsepower. It make about 420 to 430 to the wheels. You proably don't understand that!
I wonder if they took out the carbon filter inside the intake to make 500 horse on the Dark Horse from the 480
Thats interesting. Most people doing share that same opinion. with a price tag much higher, its performance doesn't seem to keep up. Even with the previous generation.
5:02you have to tell us how fast you were going when you slammed on the breaks cuzz that was fast
Is that wheel as huge in person as it looks on camera? It looks like what you once called it a Lego Hand wheel or something of that sort
All they did was make the front end really ugly...and changed the dashboard and a few other features and charged alot more money.
LOL
I agree, theres absolutely no difference other then screens and the unusual front end.
Its always searching for a gear and has to down shift 4 gears when i step on the gas i couldnt imagine it in a sportscar
@@Mike696956 i live off some twisty turny roads and the 10 speed is lost, constantly slamming gears. Coasting down a hill and then climbing it feels like a neutral drop at times. The only way the 10 speed operates good is if you're in the throttle all the time or run it in tow haul or sport. Kiss your gas mileage good bye.
@@07slowbalt ya I've had about the same experience with mine sport mode is definitely better other than the rev hang sometimes it gets stuck in a gear after flooring it and over revs for like 30 seconds before it shifts again
@@Mike696956 it actually makes me feel much better knowing others have the same issues ive experienced. Everybody says an aftermarket tune does wonders to the tranny but i know these things are stupid expensive to repair so i dont want to chance it and blow my warranty good bye.
I just hate how much it weighs.. and the all digital tach but I like everything else about it. I think I'm still going to buy a new Supra over this, though.
