I find this pretty eerie considering I've been saving playing master duel for quite some time and just now when I pop into it I encounter one of the strongest engines I've ever seen, not even a week later you come out with a video on it
id argue Runick is more toxic, How can you draw the out to Runick when Runick banished it 2 turns ago because you dared to have a spell set. Tear is a crazier stronger deck i just dont find it as anger inducing
Tear is just strong, but not unbeatable, and it makes for some crazy fun duels, especially in the mirror match, the likes of which ygo hasn't seen in years. Runick is just a better mill strategy that also locks you out of your effects since it banishes instead of regularly milling to the GY
Nice explanation. It's an extraordinarily irritating engine in the BO1 format of Master Duel (hence why several of it's strongest cards have been semi-limited) but I presume it might be easier to deal with in the TCG, due to the side deck.
The side deck just means EVERY Runick variant gets to be Runick Stun. Though that's a small price to pay for being able side out your cards that are useless against it.
You lose at D1 then just kill your opponent in D2 and D3 with your side deck filled with Anti-Spell Cards. Though Spright Runick is hard to side counter since they either play Runick or Spright depending on their Hard drawn starting card which makes side decking can backfire if they just stun you with Interruptions with Spright.

I actually faced and somehow won against runicks in master duel using an noble knight/infernoble deck. All thanks to an equip spell that let me attack directly so I don't trigger hugin's effect to return to the extra deck 😅 and almost lost since on that last turn I drew my last card
As a master duel player I use a 20 card Runick engine with a 7 card Aleister engine, 1 terraforming, standard hand traps (Maxx C, Ash Blossom, Nibiru), 2 Forbidden Droplet and as a final nuisance, 2 Majesty's Fiend. For extra its 3 Hugin, 1 Munin, 1 Geri and the rest go to Invoked monsters. First turn Hugin to fetch fountain and tribute for Majesty is a massive stop to most decks, and even if they have some spell removal you still have slumbers or can chain any runick quick play to get out another Hugin as her protection effect doesn't "activate."
Maybe „You cannot enter your next Battle phase.“ might work. The thing about skipping the next Battle phase is that it only counts as skipped if you attempted to enter it but if you cannot enter it, your next Battle phase should be the one you have after that, so if you apply this restriction again, you cannot use the Battle phase after that. However, if this isn't how it works, „You cannot enter your next Battle phase, also skip the Battle phase after that.“ does cause you to give up additional Battle phases.
@@TheKitty699 Which of my opponent's End phases? The next one? Besides, this sounds as if Runick spells activated on turn three (or four) don't add further Battle phases to that counter. For that, this would have to be a lingering effect that keeps count throughout the whole duel.

I still cant comprehend how Konami allows a field spell that is a pot of greed on crack, with a cost less than Pot of Avarice, just because it belongs to the archetype that has no maindeck monster 😢 not even a hard archetype restriction ffs
Well, that the archetype has no main deck monsters is a serious issue. Monsters have useful effects, have bodies that can be used as material for all kinds of plays or even just for their stats, and generally stick around until they are removed from the field. Quickplay spells are used once and then gone, which more often than not puts you behind in card advantage. They also are spell cards, so if you had to set them to use them on your opponent's turn they could just be dustered. The only ways to make up for that other than draw power are to make your opponent draw less (which doesn't really exist on a permanent card) or prevent them from using their cards, i. e. floodgates. Floodgates can prevent your opponent from playing altogether and require resource investment to be outed, which can put you on more or less equal footing as far as card advantage is concerned. That, however, is boring and disliked by the player base. Runick Fountain is a genius solution to this problem. It makes up for the loss in card advantage and protects your playmakers from backrow hate (as you can now use them from the hand at all times). All the Runick Quickplay names can only be activated once per turn, so if you can play through one monster destruction, one spell/trap destruction, one targeted negate, and possibly one handrip, you're golden (note that drawing into all these is the _best_ case scenario for the Runick player). Besides, usually YGO is played in a best-of-three format, so you have the opportunity to side in all the backrow hate and anti-banish floodgates (Artifact Lancea, Chaos Hunter, Imeprial Iron Wall) that you could possibly need. In best-of-one, there's no way around maindecking some of these, if your deck cannot inherently banish Fountain, which kind of kills the deck right there (Runick cannot recover their spells, if they're banished, and without the Field spell its turns are numbered).
Correct me if i'm wrong but if you have Fountain on the field and 5 Runick QP's in the GY, if you activate 1 Runick QP can you activate Fountain's trigger effect and place only 1 Runick QP to the bottom of the deck and draw 3? Also, can you explain again Fountain's 'soft' once per turn effect if I have 2 in hand?
No, you only draw what you placed under your deck which is always a max. of 3. One of them can even be DD Crow'd, which leaves with 2 cards under the deck and 2 cards to draw. Regarding the soft once per turn: as per its card text, fountain isnt once per turn by its card name, but by card. so, if you have a second one in hand, you can "replace" your Fountain, which has already used its effect to draw cards, by the second fountain from your hand. Use some runick QP's and use Fountains effect again
Have a question I haven’t seen answered anywhere, if the first part of a runick spell fizzles (e.g. use freezing on sp little knight and she chains to banish herself and dodge it) does the banish cards off the top of opponents deck part still happen or no because the first half of effect didn’t happen. Thanks.
Can you do tearlements next? I haven't really been playing or buying cards for a year, and I know it was really strong before the ban list. I just never knew why.
don't know if anyone said this, but I would play a fps based off the runick cards (you can't argue that all the quick spell cards don't look like they are from a fps game)
So they banish your opponents cards and you get to go plus and negate or pop your opponent's stuff? How is that not considered broken? The cards don't even sound like they go minus or neutral😊
They don't go minus, they maintain card advantage most of time, the only way they gain card advantage are by drawing or if they somehow draw Runick Tip, it will auto +1 over time So if they draw floodgates they gonna brick during the duel
Putting aside fountain, I quite like runick, well designed cards, the quickplays putting a body on field or there versatility allowing you to have in archetype outs to some cards in the meta is nice, elephant in the room, plays well with flood gates, oh well people, suck it up.
I haven't lost to Runick and its variations yet. It's strong but not unbeatable (but this is mainly because I studied how the engine works, I can imagine it to be near unbeatable for a lot of MD players) but oh boy... it's very irritating to play against them...

Besides, usually YGO is played in a best-of-three format, so you have the opportunity to side in all the backrow hate and anti-banish floodgates (Artifact Lancea, Chaos Hunter, Imeprial Iron Wall) that you could possibly need.
In best-of-one, there's no way around maindecking some of these, if your deck cannot inherently banish Fountain, which kind of kills the deck right there (Runick cannot recover their spells, if they're banished, and without the Field spell its turns are numbered).
can you also exlplain the spellbook deck? been playing it in masterduel and i have no idea what im doing tbh.
Shufflers exist to kneecap Runick.
Do a video about how Fusion used to be a failed mechanic but then became meta.
Didn't he cover that before (albeit perhaps on the side during the explanations in other videos)?
Thanks.
Is macro cosmos and anti - spell fragrance deck enough to shutdown this annoying deck?
What about the new fusion that was released last week? How good is that?
...To think, that MST can void Runick Fountain's resolution.
It’s All fun and games until invader of darkness shows up…
Can you do tearlements next? I haven't really been playing or buying cards for a year, and I know it was really strong before the ban list. I just never knew why.
Thats no engine.
Thats a whole deck.
half a deck
That's one of Runick downside that most overlook. It is an draw engine that requires half the deck space for mediocre cards.
I’m shocked you haven’t done Ishizu Tear yet
don't know if anyone said this, but I would play a fps based off the runick cards (you can't argue that all the quick spell cards don't look like they are from a fps game)
Please do unchained homie I need to fall asleep to a relevant deck
It does stack on yugioh nexus. I'm pretty sure they made a ruling so it always stacks.
Hmm interesting, I wouldn’t think so because it says NEXT battle phase meaning the immediate next one. 🤷♂️
Runic decks are difficult to play against. They always beat me by running out my deck
Just pop fountain on your turn and watch them cry as you otk
17 main deck soaces and 5 extra deck spaces sounds more like a deck then an engine tbh
Make a video about the Journey of tier 0 formats
I’m still waiting for an archtype to be themed after fast food starring Hungry Hamburger
I already use a gunkan deck ;)
Nouvellez
Boy do I have good news for you
Wait what news?
haven't hear? now there is an archetype for Hungry Hamburger, the Nouvelles, is food themed but isn't fast food tho, but fancy food funnily enough...
@@copperfield42 which features Hungry Burger as the ultimate dish, for some reason
Gonna finish my fast after this vid lol
So they banish your opponents cards and you get to go plus and negate or pop your opponent's stuff? How is that not considered broken? The cards don't even sound like they go minus or neutral😊
They don't go minus, they maintain card advantage most of time, the only way they gain card advantage are by drawing or if they somehow draw Runick Tip, it will auto +1 over time
So if they draw floodgates they gonna brick during the duel
I love to combo this deck with spright. Since both uses level 2 monsters to fully combo.
can we get tearlaments next mr. spiderlogs?
D-Hero Dark Angel says Hi.
DD Dynamite makes skipping your BP very worth it.
I think most people is concern on how to play against Runick 🤭
the Master duel nightmare deck
*Invader of Darkness entered the chat.
1:40 Is that an engine? I am pretty sure that's just playing the full deck
mr logs can you make tearlaments Engine Explained
You only hate it until you use it, is quite a toxic and stalling deck but goddamn does it works on instant surrenders
love decking people out with runick stun :p
Putting aside fountain, I quite like runick, well designed cards, the quickplays putting a body on field or there versatility allowing you to have in archetype outs to some cards in the meta is nice, elephant in the room, plays well with flood gates, oh well people, suck it up.
Keldo and Mudora naturally kill Runick
Too bad the best cards in the engine are almost $100 together, hope they get a reprint soon…
When are when gonna to get a Fallout archtype lol.
I faced 2 runick decks in a row shut them down with Pacifis going first both tines
Only 1 fountain is allowed now in masterduel
Lava golem and sphere mode
Woop woop
Hear me out, Runick exodia.
I’ve finally given In😭
nice
I haven't lost to Runick and its variations yet. It's strong but not unbeatable (but this is mainly because I studied how the engine works, I can imagine it to be near unbeatable for a lot of MD players)
but oh boy... it's very irritating to play against them...
You're so cool
Runick floatgates incoming 💀
Unpopular opinion, but i likem them
Runick: very fun engine often paired with degenerate strategies. I think that's the shortest explanation.
What does pot of greed doooooo
Bad deck idea! (?)
Runick Deckout Volcanic Burn!
