    I really like that Redoer's effects tie in to Time Thief's theme.
    The first effect is literally stealing/retrieving an object from your opponent. As for each part of the second effect:
    - Banishing himself alludes to Redoer escaping the scene when being chased (say, by an S-Force);
    - Drawing a card alludes to Fast Forwarding time to your "next turn";
    - Finally, placing a card on top of the deck alludes to Rewinding time to before your opponent drew it.

      Yeah, but, it does have to compete with multiple generic synchros that give negates. It's why synchros have the reputation they have, because in a synchro deck you can set up a full field of negates so that your opponent can't even do anything.
      Plus, a bunch of other synchro cards that have those negate effects also have 'Once per turn you can banish/destroy one card on the field', which is probably better than 'when this card is summoned you can banish a card on the field'.
      Not saying it's bad, just that it has a lot of competition for just being a generic synchro without even considering the other generic extra deck monsters, like fusion and link. It also doesn't help that some of those synchros that it competes with are also level 10.

      Psychic made sense to add with all the shenanigans in the anime, its just that later in 5Ds due to drama, they had to be placed on a back burner.
      Cyberse is to promote the 6 era and dueling in cyber space and promote Link summoning. Though realistically, they're just psychic, spellcaster/warrior/dragons, thunder and machine type monsters fused together into one.
      Wyrm are just dragons. They didn't to make "too much dragons" for some reason, also duel terminal shenanigans. Also shown in how a lot of them are just "enhanced/alternate" dragons and how little support they get, and how overly convoluted and gimmicky many of their effects are.

    Half of this list being generic is one of the main reasons why powercreep in this game is getting out of hand. Any new card released will be IMMEDIATELY put to the test to either contest these cards or turbo them out.
    Some possible easy fixes are modifications to their materials, keeping their splashability to a degree but requiring decks that don't play the archetype to commit more (but Konami would never do these bcs Konami):
    1. Borreload Savage Dragon: 1 "Rokket" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monster(s).
    2. Accesscode Talker: 2+ Effect Monsters, including a Cyberse monster.

    This is the bad thing about today's boss monsters. They're generic to the point where meta decks can use them, decreasing deck diversity. Back then, monsters like Cyber End Dragon were ACTUAL boss monsters because they were often used within a deck of their own or related archetype, or related to their types in general. Top of that, they're more rewarding to use when boss monsters are used in their "home" decks (like Savage Dragon to Rokkets).

    I think it’s important to realise that drident is not the problem with zoos. For their time, drident providing on-demand removal(essentially) was an incredibly strong effect, and with consistency that zoos hold to this day. However, in todays meta-game(much more power-crept,) link monsters can provide the same things with generic archetype cards(freeing up tons of other slots for other techs/extra deck monsters). Drident is not banned in master duel for a reason, it’s not very good.
    However, that’s not to say that the *other* zoos should not stay banned. Cards like broadbull and ratpier are easily abusable in modern combo decks because they are not once per turn. Decks would be able to abuse these cards to spam a ton of bodies with 0 locks with only 1 card, with drident as a cherry on top or fail-safe, should you brick on the other 4 cards in your hand, trying to play past disruption. Pre-links, cards that could spam bodies were more common since less decks had a practical use for them. Todays meta game changes that entirely, which is also the reason spyrals instantly became one of the best archetypes ever printed.

      @xCorvus7x Год назад +1

      Having room is just a choice you make when deckbuilding, though.
      That every deck can do it doesn't mean that it is worth it in every case.
      I guess you could argue that Underworld Goddess is more of a boss monster than Time Thief Redoer but when do you ever end on Goddess?
      Either you use her as a Kaiju to clear the field for an OTK or you summon her during your opponent's turn with I:P, which makes her as much a utility card as Redoer (who can be considered the boss monster of his archetype).

    • @KaiserShield
      @KaiserShield Год назад

      @xCorvus7x If you're building a optimized and meta deck though choice isnt really a option though. And the underworld goddess usage rate in MD speaks for its usefulness by itself.
      Most decks that can summon it, have it. And even if she isn't consistently useful every game comes in handy enough, often enough that she warrants a spot in them.

    • @xCorvus7x

      Meta is only the top fraction of all decks.
      Five ED slots is pushing it but not _much_ more than running Zoodiacs for Drident or Zeus.
      Goddess's playrate on MD is skewed by the variety of the format as well as the format being best-of-one.
      Using a Quick-Effect Kaiju as interruption is good but if there was no need to prepare for the occasional Crooked Cook, Arrival Cyberse, or whatever else is best answered with a Kaiju, she'd certainly be played less.

      The accomodations you have to make for Drident, UDF, or Zeus can be done by every deck and are no different than other considerations during deck building, where you already have to decide which cards/engines to play and how you best use the limited Extra Deck space you have.
      It's reasonable to expect a generic deck to run several Level 4 or lower monsters as well as Tuners (if for no reason other than some of the best handtraps in the game being Tuners) and nowadays you can also expect it to be able to summon a couple of them during a single turn.
      That these ten monsters are the best generic ED monsters doesn't mean that they are always the best choice: depending on what exactly you are playing you might have better options available or need the space for other things.

    Unchained abomination for an honourable mention. 2+ monsters, including a link monster, being more generic in modern game states than Avramax while still accessing an Avramax style summon combo. Its three trigger effects can prevent most of the rest of this list from even being summoned by removing their materials from the board almost as quickly as they could be deployed. First-Third summoning of Abomination via an I:p masquerena strategy can afford it's owner complete control of the opponent's play state by picking apart their board on it's set up or by their own interactions with any number of cards or ending their turn. At this point in a duel it also has very few common weaknesses unlike some other members of this list, for example infinite impermanence would have to be played from hand to be a valid counter other than that dark ruler no more or effect veiler. Tokens can also be used as link material for this monster, so this mighty link-4 can be made using a single copy of scapegoat at an opportune moment, then turning two tokens into I:p masquerena something very few members of the list can achieve.

    • @AloneTheorist
      @AloneTheorist 11 месяцев назад +1

      Effects of Unchained Abomination: 1. If a card a card on the field is destroyed by card effect, except by unchained abomination: you can target one card on the field and destroy it. 2. If another monster is destroyed by battle; you can target one card on the field and destroy it. 3. During THE end phase; you can target one card on the field and destroy it. These three effects if used strategically and on both player's turns can cause Unchained Abomination's to have complete control of the flow of the duel despite the targeting requirements of it's effects. Meaning early enough summoning of this card can effectively let you control the interactions your opponent can make. Also any spell or trap removal can trigger the first effect making Abomination an add on or extender to cards such as Harpie's feather duster, mystical space typhoon and dust tornado among a long list of others.
