Hey Cameron thanks for making a video on our N52 Turbo kit! We hope it wasn’t to difficult to install as clearances are definitely tight when you add so much into a small area! In terms of your oil feed if you switch it go the other way around you will notice more slack in the line (90° toward the T and straight to the turbo). Excited to see how it ends up running and to see some track driving with it!
Thanks! I ended up just getting a 45⁰ for the oil feed. I think I lost a fitting because it was too low for the pressure sensor to fit the other way as it is on your demo car. May change it in the future.
@Moon-Garage hey man I got a question here for you. If you where to do this on a manual does the engine block to thermostat line just bolt on or is there special things you would need to do to get it on I plan on buying this for my e90 build but don't have that piece cause it's a manual thanks
@kingsworthygaming825 the kit will come with extra stuff /all the parts you need when you select a manual car. I believe an oem auto line will come in the kit if you select a manual car before checkout.
Just got into cars not too long ago I got a 528i I like my car would like to keep it but turbo it and stuff. This is pretty helpful and wish I found you sooner
Thank you so much for this. I have a 2008 328i and was thinking of doing the same since it’s no longer my daily. I was curious how the drivetrain would hold up and sounds like only 400 hp.
@@Greezzmonky first thing to go out in the drive train seems to be the torque converter. Starts to slip around or just above 300hp. Some guys are converting to a specific torque converter out of an X5 or some Z's have it too. Another option and probably easier is to do a manual trans. Preferably a 335i manual trans (GS6-53BZ). BUT all of those drivetrain issues on the auto cars come from hard launches and aggressive shifting trans tunes. So if you always roll into it you'll be fine.
Very well detailed write up/video. After watching this im leaning more and more to a rear mount set up. There is so much room where the factory muffler goes and the turbo really dosent help with a allready cramped engine bay

@aombarbor hell yeah. I feel like LS swapping changes the dynamic of any car a lot. Balance, handling and stuff. I'm not opposed to it, but sometimes it's like may as well buy a c5 corvette. Overall, turbo kit will be cheaper, considering you'll need an new ecu and a lot of fabrication.
I’m curious as to when the magnesium block will decide when it’s time to head out, but hey man, you’re freaking awesome, you’re doing what everyone is afraid to do, that n52 is a mystery and we must find out its limits.
I’ve made over 500 on the n52 on stock internals the weak point is the piston ring lands due to small ring gap and the higher compression these motors run. You need to lower compression and open the ring gap to make 600whp reliably on my setup we’re going for 18-20psi but I don’t see the magnesium block being an issue it’s pretty stout. I did swap to low compression pistons and opened the ring gap from 0.13 to 0.23 to give it room to expand with the extra boost . Ide recommend at least gapping the piston rings but sick setup I love to see more n52 stuff out there 👍
I got it on sale for just over 5k. On all m3 suspension and I'd say it beats the n54 in reliability so I'd be saving there too😂 also paying 328i family sedan insurance.
Get an n55 coolant tank off a e92 fits nice. What was genuinely going through your head while drilling into the oil filter housing in the car. It was so painful to watch. Would’ve taken an hour to remove and drilled/cleaned properly

I'll do a video on why a 328i sometime, but in short, reliability, certain characteristics that the n52 has over the n54 (like compression) and cost. Also, it's all for a purpose. N54 can make good big power, but to drivers that care about more than a straight line, big power is not always what you want, not saying that you can't do a fbo 335 and have a great track car.
