    you explained it perfectly james. In this sim you can't rely on the slipstream or physics alone; you really gotta learn and know how to set up the car to really get the most out of it. Been running with the full IMSA preset on lately and my god this sim makes me love racing again
    Edit: you should try a 2.4 hour race with x10 time acceleration so you can see the day-night cycle

    Here's my recommendation for a very special Brazilian event: the 1,000 Miles of Brazil. It's a multi-class endurance event that happens every year on the last weekend of January since 1956 at Interlagos.
    It starts at midnight and takes 374 laps or 12 hours, whatever comes first. The grid is something like 60 cars and features prototypes, grand tourers and national tourers.
    If you want to reproduce the 2024 edition with bots, here's what you need:
    Track: Interlagos
    Date: January 28th, 2024
    Time: Midnight
    Time acceleration: 12x for a 1 hour race, 24x for a 30 minutes race
    Weather: real weather (it was dry for the majority of the race, but it rained during the last hour)
    For the grid, you'll have Brazilian prototypes (P1, P2, P3 and P4), GT3s, GT4s and National Tourers (Copa Classic FL or Hot Cars and Vintage Touring).

    Everyone gets so caught up on physics these days that they forget to actually play a game that’s fun, imo no ‘sim’ even comes remotely close to being comparable to real life feeling at this point, they all individually have big draw backs, Iracing tyres literally make it unplayable, ACC brakes behave nothing like real life, started AMS2 recently in VR and yeah it has its own set of differences but it’s been a hell of a lot of fun I really like the way the cars give you a feel of the suspension travel/weight transfer and the trail braking isn’t that bad. Moral of the story is play all of the sims they each offer something different.

      Well said, the realism debate is moot when everything is felt through an artificial FFB process. In my opinion all the sims have good & bad points but for me AMS2 & ACC stand out because they start no problem & always deliver good FPS & an enjoyable experience; the others (iRacing excepted as I've never played it) all have irritating little annoyances like cranky UI, painfully slow loading, etc. Each to their own though, we're lucky there are several good sims & we should enjoy them all :)

      Every sim has their own physics, and from my expirience in ams2, acc and lmu, you can still use 100 brake on gt3 cars, but they shows different behaviors, especially on the final part of the braking, when the car is near the maximum corner speed

      @notdreadyet33 5 дней назад +1

      @Snirby1629 ACC's braking is abysmal. The ABS in GT3 is simply there for Gentlemen racers. Threshold braking is an integral part of all road racing and something that is missing in ACC, apart from the few cars with no ABS.

    • @CedKabandana
      @CedKabandana 5 дней назад +1

      @@notdreadyet33 yea you're right. in acc you have to press 100% even with the lowest abs, while lmu and ams2 require more caution and skills, as they show a more 'reactive' consequence. i always felt acc as the heaviest and less lighter on the brakes, while ams2 is too sensitive and (in my opinion) lmu is the best as it's balanced.

    James, quick question: Do you feel the peak of the tires’ self-aligning torque clearly in the real McLaren GT3? I can sense it well in ACC, but in LMU, it’s much harder to perceive. The FFB feels very even at the peak point there, and I don’t get that distinct sensation. I’m curious if this peak is easily noticeable in the actual GT3 car?

    • @stefanhiller6445
      @stefanhiller6445 6 дней назад

      Depending on the boost curve and kinematics of the car. Also the aligning torque peak comes before the lateral force „peak“, not really a big peak, but maybe that’s why you mentioned the torque

    • @alexanderp176
      @alexanderp176 6 дней назад +1

      @@stefanhiller6445 Thank you. Yes, the lateral force peak occurs slightly after the torque peak. This is why I’m asking if the torque peak is easily perceivable in the GT3 car. In ACC, I can feel it clearly, and it serves as my guideline for how much I can steer. However, in LMU, it’s nearly impossible to sense the torque peak. I wanted to understand which of these two simulators is closer to reality in this specific aspect.

I've spent god knows how many hours JUST learning to set up the Porsche for different tracks, let alone all the other cars. Setup changes also feel way more impactful in ACC than in AMS2, because each car has so much of its own character and the aero modeling is so sensitive. You can take a car from an understeery, safe setup to so eager to rotate it's nearly undriveable in a few clicks of ARB or ride height at times
      Not saying AMS2 isn't good fun to drive, it is, but as someone who is very experienced and pretty damn fast in it (700 hours in AMS2, similar time trial times to esports drivers, have done 2:13s at Spa in GT3s, etc.), I can assure you that the setups are not nearly as impactful or as important to get the car behaving the way you want as they are in ACC.
