- I gave away my old SPES jacket because I ordered a new one: the Women's Light jacket in dark green! This is an initial review after one class of use, but it covers things very well.
Is this the jacket for you? It all depends on what you need. It's a 350N jacket so maybe not the answer for high intensity tournaments that might want 800N or higher. But as a modular jacket for a variety of roles it's very good. Watch the vid and I'll explain what I like and dislike about my new jacket. Spoiler: I really like it.
Excellent review! I love my SPES AP Light in BRIGHT GREEN! :D I actually took all of the foam inserts out entirely because we wear a plastic chest protector and gorget, and it's fantastic. Even sparring outside in the summer I don't get overheated. Replacing the foam inserts with leather is clever, though, nice work! I wore mine to a tournament and was fine, but consider the chest protector and gorget that I was wearing underneath.
Yay, glad you like the review! I will get or make a chest protector at some point so eventually the pockets can be emptied but for now the leather works with the foam. Except it is a bit sweaty. I can live with that if it saves me from bruises.

Is this the women's or the men's jacket? I have been using a mens cut jacket for 2 years now and am wanting a new jacket, so I'm wondering if I should get a women's cut this time.
Hi! It is a women’s cut. My old jacket was a medium so I went with a large and the extra bit of room is nice. Lots of mobility that way. So if in doubt for measurements, always go a bit larger, that’s what most of our members here are realising. Hopefully this helps!
