- How to Fix the Windows 10 File Sharing Not Working Problem [Tutorial]
Sometimes, the file sharing stops working abruptly, or you aren’t able to view your files on other devices properly. That can get quite frustrating.
But, no need to worry as we will help you fix the issue. Here, you will find 7 solutions that will bring back the Windows 10 file sharing on the right track.
The File Sharing option on Windows 10 enables users to quickly share files inside the local network they create. However, many users have reported that some of the most recent Windows 10 builds have ruined this feature and users have been unable to use it properly.
Either the computers can’t see each other on the network or they can access another’s files because of permissions settings. Either way, the feature is broken and users are desperate for a working method.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba,Lenovo, and Samsung). Наука

LOL it wouldn't surprise me
@@stewiemac4017 I tried to get Microsoft tech support lvl 3 they couldn't fix it either.
This problem affects every win 10 pc
A quick temporary fix is restart function discovery provider host on every boot
@@awesomusmaximus3766 Sometimes if a machine has had 10 Home installed, even if it's been upgraded, it's simply a waste of time. Pathetic.
@@stewiemac4017 I have 11 pc's 2 with home 5 with win 10 pro 1the only one that sharing works on is the 1 10 year old laptop that uses wifi but the other laptop which is an acer predator sharing is broken too even on wifi.
There is also 1 pc win 7 and another ancient xp laptop and xp desktop sharing works flawlessly
@@stewiemac4017 They fixed my network issues
Their solution was add a script command on startup to stop and restart function discovery provider host .
Meh
File sharing working immediately. Thank you so much!
the fact that the enable file sharing feature in windows doesnt turn this on amazes me, i have been trying to fix this for years. I guess there really is no limit to microsoft's incompetence (and my own)
Still works 4 years later thank you sir.
Glad it helped!
BIG THANK YOU! I wasted half of evening wondering why my SQL agent isn't working and this was a reason
Glad it was helpful!
Cannot access anonymous file shares after updating to Windows 10 2004 .
I updated my desktop pc for Windows 10 2004 and now I cannot access anonymous file shares any more. Before the update, I enabled the option in the Local Group Policy at:
Computer configuration\administrative templates
etwork\Lanman Workstation
"Enable insecure guest logons"
Before the update everything worked fine but now I cannot access the share.
The same for me. I rolled back to previous version ( you have 10 days to do this) . now everything works fine again
Worked like a charm.. thank you!
Glad it helped!

Here we are three years later, and SMB 2.x and later shares *still* can't be seen by anything. You still have to mount them manually on every single remote client. Microsoft is just...just so bad now.
my problem is: I have wifi-connected laptop which can't find shared folder on windows10 desktop which is ethernet-connected to the same wifi router
this windows 10 desktop can find shared folder from wifi-connected laptop.
Thanks for info, even thought it does not solve my problem
I have 2 win 10 pcs. My wife's PC can see files from both hers and mine computers. My computer cannot see files from the other. Gets a permissions error. I have everything set properly on my wife's computer for sharing. I did your steps on my computer, but I still can't see hers. Do I need to try these steps on her computer as well, even though she can see everything on my computer?
I've got the same problem... its 2020, how is networking and file sharing still such a drama for PCs!?!
