The great Eileen Brennan, supported by Madeline Kahn and Cybill Shepherd. Although Brennan is now mainly remembered for her film work - notably opposite Goldie Hawn in PVT. BENJAMIN - she was a musical comedy pro, having originated the title role in Rick Besoyan's LITTLE MARY SUNSHINE and then starring on Broadway as the first Irene Molloy ("Ribbons Down My Back") in the original production of HELLO, DOLLY! :-)
Never understood why this movie was so disparaged. Perhaps it came out the wrong decade. By the mid 70's, old time Hollywood musicals were not much in vogue. Anyway, I especially loved Cybill Shepherd in that movie. What a beautiful, classy woman.

The two little girls behind the actresses in sailor dresses are Peter Bogdanovich's daughters.
The film is so maligned but I like it! If you're entertained isn't that the point of a movie?
